@@Andrea-lq8so : That's truly amazing. Good for her. She must be very strong. She is a great age and can still sing with gusto. Congratulations to her. xxx❤🍾🥂⚘ Don't laugh but the Welsh anthem was sung with such pride, it brought tears to my eyes. That said, I don't suppose I am the only one. xxx❤
A Welsh missionary John Robert in the 19th century translated this song in my language Khasi and till today we the Khasi people sing it as our patriotic song.
Ri khasi ri khasi nga ieid ia pha Ka ri u barim u bajah Ki tymmen mynhyndai la ngam iohi shuh Jingkynmaw ia ki kan ym duh Ri Ri Nga ieid thoin thoin ia ka Ri Ngin kiew sha khlieh shaphrang kin mih Umpholiew jingstad ngin ia dih. This is our language from Khasi hills, Meghalaya, India.
Traditionally, it was the rugby crowd that sang the anthem with more fervour. However, nowadays, with the choir & everything, one barely hears the crowd sing the anthem in the Principality Stadium. But these guys... and with the PA backing track turned down..completely accapello....wow - just...wow. From a rugby man, hats off ladies & gentlemen, hats off.
As a kid I used to live three streets away from the stadium, it was great to hear, you didn't need to go to the match for the score you just counted the cheers as it bounced around the city!
What stadium do you actually listen to then ? Everytime I've been there which is often the crowd sings their hearts out , gives me goosebumps every time ! 🏴🏈🏴
@@welshnproud59 I love the Principality but I caught some games at the Arms Park and it was legendary. I still have to remind myself that it's not the Arms Park.
Welsh Toro Way way way back in the 70s, my friend and I used to get the train from Penarth to Cardiff on match days. We were too poor to go to the game, so we’d hang around Cardiff as the streets filled up with leeks & daffys & beer-filled boys from the valleys, & then listen to the singing outside the Arms Park 😁 Oh the memories 🏴
I'm English born with an Irish mother and Welsh grandmother and I live in Ireland. I am always happy if either side win but, by a country mile the Welsh National Anthem cannot be surpassed, if only by the French for passion. The two greatest anthems in the world, in my view.
@@lirmediatv753 actually I daresay most anthems have a very emotional feel to them. I'm a Kiwi so for me it would definitely be our Anthem and the Welsh probably after hearing this. However, USA's Land Of Hope And Glory is another amazing one. As is South Africa's .
Cheers to Wales from an American born Nigerian ❤️ when your fans were singing the national anthem at the euro i wanted to learn it so I did . Now i want to learn the language ❤️❤️
I’m American and the fact that a nation with 325 million less people is able to create a better atmosphere than us is honestly fantastic. Good on all of you🏴🏴
This makes me cry every time. Easily the best national anthem. Love ya Wales. What a beautiful country. You are incredibly special. From one of your English neighbours ❤️ 🏴👊🏻
@@saiidabdulbaqi5015 southern most part of England which used to be a country but is now classed as a county, the people (Cornish) are recognised as a Celtic minority group, the same as Welsh, Irish and Scottish, we are slowly bringing back our language and slowly it’s being taught in schools! We have been really oppressed by the English and our history has been destroyed for the most part en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornish_language
@@Ollie121299OnPC good to know 👍 thanks a lot. Do they live near Land's End? Because I've been there, like many places in England and Wales. Hope to visit Scotland and Ireland too
Im from the NW of England and I love Wales and all the Welsh people Ive met over the past 40+ years of visiting for holidays and trips out. You can keep Benidorm and Tenerife, I visited every bit of Wales and have never had a bad time, not once. Gods Country. Cannot be beaten
@@welshtoro3256 She'll take the anthem to heaven with her Jimmy.Ps was she good at singing it? I take it you have Scottish in your DNA?. Same here .....
My gran was from London and moved to Wales when she was 17 teen she passed away 2 years ago she was 93 and still had a strong English accent every though she served in the s wales army she loved Wales but loved England as much
My grandmother was from the Rhondda valley and lived in Wembley over 50 years and was as Welsh as the day she left the valleys. I live here in Ireland and I was born in the UK with an English father but the hairs stand on my. head watching and listening to this. The pride I feel at having Welsh blood, when listening to this is palpable.
Unlucky lads, I'm not even Welsh but as a Scot I was covered in goosebumps listening to that. Would love to see us all at a World Cup or euros one day. From a selfish point of view, at least we won't be the only home nation not going this time. Cymru am byth, Alba gu brath
Josh Hamilton I'm assuming you're English. How can you call Wales a fail football nation when it took them 1 tournament to do what England haven't done since 96'. Fair enough on Scotland, we're shite. But Wales are good
Saes? Rwy'n SAES? Mae'r wlad fy nhadau yw Cymru, mae fy ngwlad o bêl-droed yw Cymru, rwy'n falch o'm gwlad, rwy'n falch o Gymru. Nid wyf yn casáu Lloegr, ond nid wyf yn Saes. Rydych yn sarhau i mi! We will never forget 2016, it was a dream, no one thought such a tiny nation could do that, no one in Wales thought that we would have any success in any sport except Rugby on an international level... all I can say is amazing, hands down to the boys and to Chris Coleman for giving us those good times. It's too bad it didn't work out this time, but we as football fans have been here SO many times. There will be good times to come again though, this squad is something special and the youngsters coming up have some serious talent. Buuuut... for now.... Scotland and Wales have done a fail. Might as well sit and drown our sorrows together and sing so loudly we can't hear those jealous English dickheads taunting us.
Josh Hamilton ah my bad, thought you were English. Yeah euro 2016 was brilliant for you lot, most of us up here were rooting for yas. To be fair on Wales this time around though, they did have a very tough group, Austria, ROI and Serbia are all good teams. There is a benefit of not qualifying though, we get to see the English get knocked out and their entire country going into meltdown. I am jealous they are there though lol, I'd love to see my country at one.
I think the hosts of every world cup would prefer Wales or Scotland too... English fans are so untidy. With all the beer bottles, burnt out car wrecks and dead bodies littering the pavements after they've passed through.
What a wonderful anthem, the language, the people, the culture, the land, a reflection of an ancient peoples identity. In a thousand years we Scots couldn't get near writing such a noble anthem. ❤️🏴🏴
One thing on my bucket list is to watch a rugby match at the Millennium stadium and listen to this amazing anthem sung by equally beautiful welsh voices and I'm a kiwi.
I am American with a Welsh boyfriend. I always thought the National Anthem for the United States was just perfect. But when I met my boyfriend he introduced me to the Welsh rugby crowd singing the Welsh National Anthem during a home game. The Welsh anthem is really just something special--especially when it is sung by a crowd of very passionate Welsh people. The melody brings tears to my eyes. Then when I actually read the lyrics--just wow! The Welsh is just something very special--something about those Celts.
@Ben Cutler Yes, he can speak the day-to-day or practical usage of the language. He most definitely can sing the anthem in Welsh. Born and bred in Barry, Wales. His family resides in Barry and Cardiff. He, on the other hand, retired in Costa del Sol.
Ours (the U.S.) is a war ballad, theirs is a battle cry. Each are anthems, for sure, but we have a man making observations ' and Wales has the Wrlsh banding together. That's just the feeling I get, well, and the words.
@@genghis_connie the Welsh national anthem was written in response to the New Zealand All Blacks Haka in 1905. Which shows you just how seriously they take their rugby.
Im English. Huge respect to you welsh guys (and girls). I've never heard such emotion from any other fans singing their national anthems. If that doesn't make you feel ten feet tall, nothing will. One of the great moments in sport.
Give thanks to Thomas Jones from wales who came to our state Meghalaya -India 🙏 from him we get to learn and write alphabets. 👏👏The Anthem was the same tune with our State Meghalaya National Anthem and this reminds me about Thomas Jones lots of love from Meghalaya👍❤
As an irishman. Amazing anthem brilliantly sung. Imagine being a welsh player listening to that before a match. If that doesn't get you going nothing will.
Okay I’m listening to this for the first time and I have no clue why this made me cry but, it did. I’m from the US and I would love to hear this in real life in Wales or in a World Cup!
As a South African, the Welsh Anthem remains one of the most beautiful anthems in the world. 🏴 this was mind-blowing beautiful, and even 5-years later, still goosebumps beautiful. Love you Wales 🩷🏴🩷
When I hear the Welsh anthem I often get teary eyed. I am Norwegian and I love our anthem, but this anthem hits different. I dont know why I do this, but I just think its wonderful hearing someone be so proud Of their country. Good luck in the Euros this summer!
I was brought up in Wales for part of my childhood. We were taught to sing the national anthem in Welsh, but I was too young for it to stick. I oldest sister is proud of the fact that she can still remember it!
Michelle Hamling I just heard this for the 1st time !!!!! I'm in Melbourne Australia & have seen & heard the Men's Welsh Choir here, that was beautiful but !!!! this made me cry as I remember my Mother's Father sing as a little girl. He was a Welsh Coal Miner who immigrated to Sydney in the 1920's. This clip is just beyond any Choir !!!!!
Well that also means you have got Welsh blood in your veins, CYMRU AM BYTH, Greetings from Cardiff Wales 🏴🏴🏴💯👌🏻,Edit: also means you still support Australia 🇦🇺in the cricket 🏏, Because your Welsh 🤣🤣💯👌🏻🏴🏴🏴✌🏻
Thank you Lee, the best anthem and flag. I mean no disrespect to England, my home for many years, but the English anthem is a problem. I really wish my English brothers and sisters could sing for something higher than the monarch. The tune is a bit of a dirge too. The Welsh anthem is about all of us and our land. Many talk of Jerusalem as an alternative English anthem and I think that would be great. Something the people could sing for about themselves. WT
@@welshtoro3256 Jerusalem would be wrong as it sings about the so called visit of Jesus to what is now England. Problem is, they wouldn't arrive for another 400 years. If he existed and did indeed visit, he would have interacted with those now known as the Welsh.
@@aaronh4276 I can't comment on this one bro as I'm half Welsh half Irish living in the Rhondda valleys south Wales, so I'm going to sit on the fence and say I love all us Celts! Greetings from Wales bro!
No, the most emotional and powerful rendition was at the last Euros in 2016 in France, before Wales’ first match in any finals for three generations. It brought a lump to everyone’s throats and a tear to everyone’s eye. It was just amazing ! 🏴
Call me biased but this will always be the best anthem in the world, proud to be welsh, the last part of our anthem is my favourite part just pure passion 🏴🏴
I wish we in Sweden would sing with this much power cause our anthem is beautiful too.. I mean not as beatiful as this anthem, this is actually the best i've ever heard.
Thank you rasmustapir. Can you imagine being a physical neighbour of England for 1500 years and not have a bit of an attitude. It's been a struggle. I know of no other country that has such a powerful but peaceful nationalism. Singing is part of that. God Bless. WT
I am Welsh, two of my brother married Swedish girls and moved to your country decades ago. I have two beautiful Swedish nephews, had to fight the local girls off when they came to visit for a month. I lost one of my brothers ten years ago. He was my baby brother, and he now sleeps on a hillside overlooking the beautiful lake of his adopted home KIL. When I think of that gorgeous lake and the green woods surrounding it, it brings me peace to know that is his view for eternity. Your country is a truly magnificent place and your people and the people of KIL are a credit to you. Thank you for your kindness when I came to say goodbye to him.
Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is by far the greatest national anthem in the world! Such a shame we won't hear it at the World Cup considering the fact that Wales absolutely rocked at the Euros. Nevertheless you should be proud of your country Welshmen!! Lots of love from the Netherlands!!! 👊👊👊
Ahmed de Laaf Hi, met some Dutch fans in Paris after we had just beaten Northern Ireland. Holland hadn't even qualified and you were there to enjoy the Euros. They were over the moon that we were through, and danced with me on the champs elyses.!! What a night
From a proud Scottish person.... What a credit both players and fans.. This is becoming my favourite national anthem... I wish our Scottish players had passion like that. I'll always support Wales who they are playing (apart from Scotland) .. Credit to our Celtic brothers
I agree But kiwi ol mate I,m an Aussie and you blokes should be proud of your Hakka ( hope I spelt that right but yes even though I,m Aussie my dad was born.in Wales and I,m sitting here with tears of pride ROLLING down my cheeks. To think that my heritage is tied to that AMAZING ANTHEM and steadfast people.
Dioch, as a Welshman, have to say I was in Murreyfield a few years ago when Scotland beat us but oh to hear Flower of Scotland belted out at the end was absolutely wonderful 🏴❤️
I sang it once in the Arms Park in Welsh. A dream come true. I'm English but supported Wales in the rugby from watching the Great 70s team as a kid. Beautiful song.
When this was sung in the 68th minute of the 2015 Belgium game, the opposition players actually stopped because they didn't know what was happening, and it turned the tide of the match. I'm one of the Red Wall singing my pride.
I've sung in the Oregon Welsh Choir, and we sang this every time we performed. Perhaps the most stirring national anthem in the world, especially when sung at a sporting event in Wales.
Wales I swear I'll learn this for when Cymru plays the Yanks in Qatar next week, and I'm Welsh American! Truly an enthralling chilling hymn to belt out.
My wife is Grangetown, Fitzalan H.S. I'm from Adamsdown originally then Rumney/Trowbridge, remember being on the Grange end in the late 70's and early 80's, happy days, Good Luck boyo !
As an English man and proud, I as a parent used to hum this to my children when I was cuddling them off to sleep. Such a beautiful anthem and sung beautifully by passionate people. I love delivering in Wales as it's people and countryside are fantastic.
