Just a little compilation of the things, captured on my Gopro, that me and Soph got up to on our ski season working in a chalet: Ranging from skiiing, snowboarding, Huskey sledding, skidooing, festivals and a lot of work!
We started in Kaprun, Austria, we quit, and ended up at an amazing chalet in Alpe D'huez, France

Thinking of doing a season next year... I've skied before when I was a kid and loved it, but I'd be interested in trying boarding too... sounds like a dumb question but is there a ski/board divide at all in terms of people? I've heard a lot of "nooo skiing is so much better" and "skiing is so lame boarding is cooler" and I'm not sure.. so I just wanna do what I'll enjoy more!! Will I actually have fun out there if I haven't been skiing in 14 years?? Will I be way less advanced than my work buddies and be snailing down the blues on my own while they're all whizzing down the blacks together?

+megan bowden Hey Megan, I know tonnes of people that went on a season with no experience at all. My girlfriend being one of them. If you were thinking of doing a season i'd definitely recommend getting some decent instruction in the beginning weeks to get you up to a standard where you enjoy yourself. Then after that with all the experience you'll get riding everyday, you'll be sweet by the end :)

ok thank you :) what company did you work for ? :)

+megan bowden We work for two companies on our season. First was an independently owned chalet, the working conditions were awful as the owners had no idea how to run a chalet, so we quit our job there and moved to France with a company called Equity/Rocketski, a school travel group, they have loads of hotels in France so there are loads of jobs!

How much work experience had you done before getting a job as a chalet host?
@Oliverconnelly

We hadn't had any work experience working in the hospitality industry and arrived as complete novices. Some places do a week of training without guests to get you up to scratch in cooking and cleaning standards

how hard is it to get a job over the season ?

Elyss Productions I started off my season in Austria, and worked for a private chalet with British owners. They were absolute slave drivers and we weren't given time to snowboard at all and we didn't receive pay regularly! So we quit that job moved to France with a company that hire for hotels and chalets called rocketski, and it was amazing there, we were our own bosses there so could run things how we wanted which is so much easier than having someone watch over you!
