Mount Baker Ski Area reported a world record 1,140 inches (95 feet) / 2,896 cm (29 meters) of snowfall for the 1998-99 season.(elevation: 10,775 feet / 3,285 meters). We headed to Washington for some of the most intense lines of the 10/11 season. It turned out to be a amazing march bluebird day for our out of bounds backcountry expedition. Can't wait to make it back to this unbelievable Mountain in 11/12!

I'll never understand the concept of riding with camera on the pole, when the camera comes with helmet attachments. The last think I want to watch is the guy filming himself and missing out on all the view in front of him.

UPDATE Mt. Baker now has the deepest snow base in North America with a current storm total of over 103 inches in the past 11 days. What an incredible week we've had, and it looks like there is more to come!

A lot of you guys clearly don't understand how difficult it is to keep this steady of a camera and still shred. Then you want a trailing hand? You can clearly see he moves it a lot. I like both angles. Be grateful or go capture your own sheeeeeit!

Don't ride above each other when you're in the backcountry. @2:00. You guys are clearly shredders but you should learn to shred more safely. I've ridden all those lines multiple times and seen them all slide. You noobs are setting a bad example for people out there who don't know what they're doing when it comes to avalanche safety/awareness. Just cuz your mom bought you a beacon and a gopro and you can follow a boot pack doesn't mean you should be riding out of bounds.

@LittleDrummerBoy131 Alright forget the percentages baker is amazing sure I have been to Tahoe and all the resorts in that area Ive been on the west coast and it does not compare to the Utah or Colorado and I would hate to ski at Mt. Baker you guys have 36 trails! so powder is powder but when there is tons of people on that small of a resort...I love going to Canyons which has 19 lifts and 190 trails to ski pow cause there is always fresh stashes!

@shadowblade145 I have GoPro HD Hero... I used it only for 5 days when I was in Itally during my snowboarding trip this year and it rurns out that my iPhone 3GS made better job then this camera. Pretty much all my videos looks like this /watch?v=RhZnwVGpVY8 The only video took with some snow definition is /watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1 which was recorded at late afternoon. Everything before 4pm without long shadows is shit.

Hello there, have you come across "photo SFX art" (do a Google search for it)? On their website you will find a good free video demonstrating how to make impressive pictures. This helped Matt to take pictures which leave you with a jaw-dropping-effect while you look at them. Hopefully it will help you as well...

For all those wondering why the camera seems still. If you swing the pole left or right, up and down the camera is still pointing to you the entire time. Therefore your body stays in the middle of frame regardless of how you achor or pivot the pole. So it just gives off the illusion everything is really still.

Baker averages a lot of snow ill give you that, but when storms off the West Coast hit you guys the powder is 28% density, they say it on the news when the storms hit the High Rockies (Utah and Colorado) and its over 8000 ft the average base station for Utah Resorts it dumps 2 feet of 2% density powder. so its proven Utah and Colorado have better snow.

I was there 98, 99, 2000, 2001 seasons and the board is under the snow.... so much powder there you're surfing the mountain.... if you fall you're in chest deep snow! Everyone who likes to snowboard needs to go to the Cascades at least once in their life!

Still imho disliking a snowboarding video because of its music is like disliking a hot girl because her shoes are red... specially now that (at least in Germany) most songs are copyright protected and the videos get blocked. I can watch only 3 of the 12 videos i uploaded... >:(

@jiminy82 When the snow conditions are good, Scotland can be great. But good snow conditions are rare, this winter there is barley any snowfall, but 2 years ago we had near permanent snow over the winter all over scotland and we had avalanches and some of the best snow conditions in europe, but that was a very rare winter. @WoodiesBaton its just a ski pole with the handle bar mount attached to the end, but they have one on amazon. its a folding pole, and has another(SMALL) piece you have to get to mount the camera to the stick....(not suggested for extreme stunts) i would recommend just getting a ski pole and the mount, its cheaper and MORE RELIABLE

how to get your material steady? well, hold your head as still as possible and dont use the strap mounts. use the sticking plates so there is much less movement. - the pole used is a "cullmann" pole. or just google it, there are millions around the internet. Other than that, HAVE FUN!!! :D

I do a lot of stick-cam interviews, and even just standing around it takes some care to keep the faces framed. Is there some technology working here, some ultralight steadycam rig that keeps this boarder perfectly framed regardless of the motion of his body?

@youtubbiesNY it just seems like that! because the camera is fixed to the stick.. so it seems like everything would move and just the stick would be static.. the "effect" is called snorricam i think..look it up on wikipedia for a better explanation!

I am sorry but it is not a big deal, if you are skilled enough to ride down such slope with hands down, holding a stick is not so hard, I did that many times at my skill level... now u can yell at me..

Its just practice man. If you get good you can do 3s,5s,7s and keep yourself in frame the entire time. Multi-taskin in a sense. Check this guy out Mammoth mountain pov - untitlejk

Great vid dude, the lighting helps so much. You can film all day and if you have crappy lighting its worthless. Try some different positions to make it more interesting. Dec edit too.

nope just a go pro on a stick, tbh when boarding if you have set the camera up correctly then it will pretty much always get you in view as it is super wide

That is a illusion because your focussing on the stick and that is attached to the camera so it looks like he is holding it still.

It is still relative to what is moving. Since the snowboarder is moving at the same speed as the camera, it looks like it's still.
