You say there's not a big difference when it comes to fps but what people need to know is that the 120 fps of the Black edition are necessary if they want to do slowmotion (which is to me the main interest of the gopro) if you don't want to do slowmotion shots then you could go with the Silver. Otherwise great explanations ;)

Best gopro value right now is the hero 4 silver. At least that thing has a screen built in. No one can really edit or upload 4k video yet on RU-vid even though RU-vid supports it. I still shoot most of my videos in HD or 1080p and upload those on RU-vid.

Since the black produces more heat at 4k/30 it carries a larger internal heatsink. As a result of the larger heatsink the LCD screen had to be dropped. If shooting at 4k/30/PT I would strongly recommend NOT running the camera with a bacpac attached, and NOT using the closed back door of the housing, so that heat can easily escape from the rear of the camera!

Ok, I just spent one week looking at comparisons and reviews for GoPro 4 Black and Silver witch is better, 4K 30fps and 1080p 120fps vs. built-in touchscreen. I've decided to go for Silver version and so far I am very happy with it. Changing settings was never easier. I think everybody know when you're pressing front and shutter bottom to change your settings and one more press to much, and you have to start again.!! so annoying, well no more with Silver version, Framing your image and playback images extremely helpful. I think that is Way enough 1080p 60fps , 4K 15fps, 2.7K 30, 25, 24fps, 1440 48, 30, 25, 24 fps

i like silver more because it has the lcd screen and i use the buttons to use it. i only use the most safe (waterproof) back door on the case. im happy i got the silver its hard to use the small screen in light

Thanks for the video. At 10:00 you talk about FPS and say 120fps is not noticeable by the human eye. The 120 fps of the black is not meant to produce better quality or to have a 120fps playback, it's meant to allow 4x slow motion (at 1080p), whereas the silver only allows 2x.

Also you mentioned that you weren't able to see a difference in the video made by those two guys, there's a good chance that your monitor wasn't showing 120 fps anyway so you wouldn't see the difference at normal speed. Great video though I'll sub :)

Great review, thanks for the review! I'm aimed to buy the Silver now. 4K is just too much data to edit, and seriously... 4K youtube videos seem a bit overkill. 720-1080 is generally what we view anyways.

Great video!!! I have been debating on which one to get as well so this video helped me out a lot! For me the Silver sounds like the best bet. I understand the Black will be better if you do a lot of slow motion stuff...but I don't have a 4k monitor and only have a Macbook Pro 13 Retina that probably won't handle that load...

The human eye can see 120 fps it's probably that the video you're watching it on is in 24/30fps. also higher fps allows for slow motion. AND you need higher hz on your monitor... I work with cameras a lot and you can definitely tell the difference between frame rates.

15fps is a useless framerate. 24 or 30p should be minimum. 120fps isn't for smoothness per se (it can be if you've got a 120hz monitor), it's meant to be played back at 25% for slow mo shots.

Im going to get a go pro for Christmas and I've been going back-and-forth with the session hero 4 silver or the hero 5 black I've been keeping my eyes on the hero for silver for snowboarding and hockey and also for playing with my friends for RU-vid Or the hero 4 black but I've been kinda leaning away from the hero 4 black cause no touch screen. Let me know your thoughts but maybe I'm wrong on the black

my thghts abt 4k is not jus the resolution, but it also gives alot of room for editing.. we can stabilize and crop the videos to 1080p with enough details.. just my thght.. :)

I think the Silver is better (if you do not mind not shooting in the space/memory hungry 4K format), because of its LCD (which makes it ok for everyday use, not just for action), the battery is slightly better and... it's $100 cheaper... the silver has way more options and it has very good quality. On the other hand the hero black doesn't have very meny options but it records 4k.now you may be wondering wich one you should get and to be honest I think the silver because who would need 4k like just think about it like you can't upload 4k every day but wen it comes to 720p 1080p and 2.7k it's not that bad at all! and you know what? the silver is way more practical and better in the end.

I'm real confused about 4K with the LCD touch screen - is it possible to/will it damage the camera to film at 4K while using the LCD touchscreen accessory? Or will it overheat and be an absolute nightmare? Many thanks anyone

I don't believe it will harm the camera if you bought the additional LCD screen. I mean why would GoPro make it if it would destroy the camera? It would probably just take more of the battery life away from the camera because it's trying to film in 4k/30fps and run the LCD screen at the same time. It would also make the camera itself about 2x the width as usual because of the addition whereas the Silver is all in one.

hey bro i am here again i have a problem with my gopro hero 4 silver. to day i use my camara go pro 4 silver and went i see the first video. I notice that tha sound was like 10 to 30 seconds after of the recording the sound was shit like the audio was 10 to 25 seconds advance the video i dont know if you understand me . can you can help me to solve this problem of my camara go pro 4 please ?
