Osmo has best skin tones. GoPro is orange, oneR is magenta. Osmo has best base colors, no freezes, one click presets, larger screen, best user interface. It lacks some features, but it is half price or more than the others. At the end usability helps creating better content. I have hero 8 and 7 and osmo action. I find the osmo the more fun to use, less glitches also with importing files in final cut. I wish it had an option for smaller file size at 60fps.

The OA is way too less saturated in normal mode, I´d use a flat profile for flat colors with the GoPro and get the ebst color results... The OotB colors matter very much imo and they are just ready to upload with the hero and maybe with the one r but I would upload the flat footage from the osmo

I'm surprised to see after 2 yrs that the DJI Osmo Action can still be compared with the Hero 9 and One R 1-inch. 1yr old Osmo Action was really ahead of its time. Cant wait for the Osmo Action 2!

Love the side by side comparison! I think I'm returning my GoPro 9 for the One R (since I still have the GoPro 8 and it's not much different)! I heard the audio on the ONE has had some firmware updates, you think the updates helped the audio sound ?

I prefer the original color on the ONE R 1inch which is true to life and has better dynamic range. For Low light shots it's playing in another league. I mostly do travel videos and vlogs so the external audio recording is a winner for me.

I recently bought my first action camera. I decided between the GoPro Hero 9 and the DJI Osmo Action. The GoPro costs here in Europe 480 euros (560 dollars) which is in my opinion way overpriced. The DJI price is less than half of that. Considering the prices, I think the DJI is much more reasonable because from what I see the quality of the GoPro is only slightly better but absolutely not worth the price difference, at least for a consumer without a professional need for it.

Great camera, but it has not been a great seller. Their Pocket has been a much better seller, so it got a second version, but it is much less certain with the Action. I would love to see an Action 2, but low sales might mean no newer version. Although pessimistic, I am hoping for an Action 2 in early 2021.

Great video mate. I have had the OSMO action for about a year now and I find it a really good camera. The only downside really is the mic which I find a bit soft compared to the GOPRO and that was possibly a reason I was looking to upgrade. I'm not so sure if I need to now. lol. The 9 does have some awesome new features though...I may just need to wait until the price comes down. Thx for your great review.

I don’t expect much difference in image quality from these cameras, not enough to matter anyway. What matters a lot to me though is the user experience. I have both the DJI Osmo Action and Insta360 One R, and one is far more pleasant to use than the other. I’d like to see a review that talks about the usability aspect, like how long they take to start and stop recording, how easy or difficult the record buttons are to press, how responsive are the touch displays, etc. In those areas I just mentioned, I feel the DJI wins by a mile vs the Insta360, but I’m curious how the GoPro would compare.

For the audio recording, ONE R recently had a hardware update, which let the camera capture voice a lot clearer!

I installed that update. As I mentioned this was with no vocal enhancements added, just left it default. IMO it should be much louder/clearer vocals even in default mode.

@@AuthenTech How is the Insta 360 sound so bad? With mine I have issue with it coming in to loud. I don't understand that sound at all. I have recorded video at 8 yards away. With people talking normal and had no issue with sound like this. Even at 10 yards facing sideways to the camera. It was still better then his. NO WAY not my experience. I really don't understand that at all from my use. What could be different from what I did and you. I turned it on did the normal things to set up and that's it. Only set the auto power off and the screen timer. Bad luck on your camera or good luck on mine. Don't know about voice focus never mess with that so did you turn that off? I don't remember ever messing with that anywhere in the 360 studio .

The GoPro is the clear winner imo for most categories, it blows the others away in audio, colors look awesome for direct upload and there is the flat picture option aswell so no issues , the stabilisation works just the best and photos look great... So I would for sure get the GoPro if you don´t have a action camera yet

In my time of owning both the GoPro Hero 8 Black and DJI Osmo Action, it seems the GoPro loves to freeze at random times even while charging and the battery life cannot compete against the Osmo Action. The GoPro's stabilization is quite a bit better even on wobbly surfaces but when mounted on a solid surface the Osmo Action can be just as smooth. While the GoPro Hero 9 is improved, it''s not that much better than my Hero 8 and I've heard that it still has reliability issues.

Unfortunately, GoPro is the king of freeze and the GoPro 9 freezes too, not worth the $450 due to its freezing issues

Actually, hero 9 is much better than the Hero 8. When you activate horizon lock, Hypersmooth 3.0 is pointless. Horizon Lock is beyond gimbal smooth and blow hypersmooth 3.0 away. However, it does crop 10% out of the frame. How do you get that back? You use the new lens mod. The lens mod gets it back to superview and more. No freezing issues on the Hero 9B and never had a freeze issue with my Hero 8B. Hero 9B battery life is so much better than my Hero 8B. Right now, Hero 9B is the best for stabilization.

Good comparison, but it almost always lacks a video test in low light, under "standard" artificial lighting. Where most of these small cameras have a hard time getting a usable image. If you could include it in your next tests that would be great. Thank you.

I bought the gopro 9 after extensive back and forth, but because it's indoor shots were bad, froze randomly and using the touchscreen was a nightmare, I returned it. It had such nice exterior shots when the settings were tuned correctly... I'm going to try out the insta360 twin edition (same price I paid for the gopro) and try out the 360 module.

I've been watching comparison videos for action cameras for about a weak now, and my takeaway is that it's probably best to wait until October, since I don't have an immediate need, and see what GoPro comes out with next. Hopefully, they move to a new processor, and that fixes all the bugs. What I'm seeing is that all-around, the gopro fits me best, but I definitely can't deal with those bugs. The 3rd or 4th time it froze up on me, we would see how indestructible it really is.

gopro sadly is best , but it freezes and has lots of problems. so i have given it back after 1 week and got another one. then another bug. so i have given back the second one and bought a pixel 6 ^^

I have the GoPro 9 and still getting to know it. But it seems to me GoPro wanted to get it shipped out in time for the holiday shopping season. There are a few obvious programming and software gaps that could easily be fixed. Either GoPro didn’t have time to get to them or they want to incorporate the fixes into their next model.

Ok so I have a question and some may laugh because these are obvious action cameras but I have the Gopro 9 and I’ve always been a Gopro fan but I’m liking the picture and video of the insta360. I literally use my camera on a tripod and I film us playing Table soccer (Foosball). What camera out of the Gopro 9 and the insta360 would you guys recommend? Thx for comparison. They are very close to call. Just get one and enjoy your life. If really want good colour and dynamic range get yourself a Nikon D850, Sony a7 mark III, canon 1DIII. For Tiny action cameras all are doing really great.

I ordered the GoPro Hero 9 having previously had the Hero silver 7 i will say there was some software issues at times so i am hoping it has improved with the new edition but when I filmed with the 7 the video was impressive. I also have the DJI Osmo Pocket and it is one of my favorite cameras and I feel like the software is a lot better than GoPro, however the Osmo Action is not updated so maybe if they get a new version of that I would have gotten that one. Never had a One R but the results are pretty nice... the slow motion section didn’t compare to GoPro though imo though there is not always a lot of use for slow motion for many people.

Great comparison bro, ONE R the best by far! I think there is some issue in your slowmotion export, ONE R 120fps definitely looks much smoother than that. ONE R footage doesn't necessarily need to be exported with Studio, you can simply drag it to Premiere or Final Cut and have the exact same workflow as gopro or action

The "stuttering" you're seeing is 120fps slowed down 12.5% to match the 240fps from the others

So, which one should I get? Seems the One R and also Osmo Action outperforms the Hero 9 (which has some hardware/software issues as far as i know). My doughter owned the Hero 7 Black but I had to return it due to some hardware issues (sometimes, even fully charged, was not able to turn on, and other flaws and glitches). So i promised her she will get the new Hero 9 when it's released. But, now I've read that even the expensive Hero 9 has many hardware issues, screen not responding etc. In my opinion, its not worth the money. I thought GoPro is leader but the other manfuactures seem to do a pretty well job in desining their ActionCams.

Was going to buy the go pro , but after watching lots of RU-vid videos , decided against it, people complaining of freezes, and switching itself off, seems common issues across the board, so I bought, DJI cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
