The diffuser came from a diffuser for a Canon Speedlite flash. Just a basic SLR flash diffuser to be honest. I cut a suitable piece out, job done. You can pick them up very cheap on Ebay.
The complete modification adds around 90g (3.5oz), though the majority of the weight is the battery pack, the light weight 28g (1oz) and it pretty much un-noticeable.
Night light wouldn't provie enough light, plus it's directly behind me so there's a big shadow directly ahead of me, the main viewing area. The light and battery pack attaches using 3M Dual Lock pads, like Velcro but better, should last longer too. It takes about 10 seconds to attach, the same to remove.
Great idea Rob - how does the light attach to the GoPro/headband ? Also, does your navlight provide enough light for the GoPro 2 to work without the mod ?
