Gopro 9 is missing a very important feature: Live Preview on the Gopro app is not supported while recording video. That feature was available in the previous versions. Most of the time I use my phone to preview what I am recording. By missing the said feature, I can no longer frame/record perfect shots when my Gopro is 20ft in the air on a monopod/selfie stick. Very disappointing.
Yeah that is true. Pay 450€ for 5k,120fps,hypersmoth, horizont....etc but you only can use 1080p 30fps and hypermosth off. So way pay 450€ if i cant use the feature wich i see on ADS? GoPro is nice company and offer a good product but this things must change. GoPro plz improve that failure and errors when record aswel. Meybe make part of the chasis on aluminium frame with small fins to disipate more heat from the chip.
Lies lol what users want 5k!? give us 4k 120 and better image quality & lowlights performance. Most people could careless whether this camera has 5k,6k or 8k lol. Would rather see a bigger sensor size or higher fps in 4k .
I have the Action and was thinking about buying an H9, but after seeing some reviews, footage, and the front screen in action, I'm going to hold off. Lowlight performs took a drastic hit, the front screen looks pretty bad with the lag and quality, and the saturation is just a bit much. I really like the colors on my Osmo. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about the osmo except I'm not a huge fan of how the battery is mounted.
I'm sorry but the quality of your recorded videos is not on par with amazing cinematographic quality of videos I just saw in Hero9 youtube ad a few minutes ago
Yeah, something's up 'cause this was uploaded at 4K but I only get the 1080p option and I have plenty of bandwidth for 4K. In our other channel, we have some of the 4K footage you can check out.
Does it have video out? Will streaming it to a phone still lag. Will it still heat up to 120° (30° higher then recommended use) after 10 minutes with all the new features on?
*Stay away from GoPro Hero9 as it is not compatible with 3.5mm Mic Adapter. So we can not use our own microphone but we have to use gopro's media mod. GoPro does not want us to use our own microphone. they disabled the support to use adapter with the latest firmware 1.21. Be careful guys.*
I dont understand the need of 5k at the moment. Most people can't even watch the videos at 5k. They shouldve just perfected the 4k to have more fps like 120fps or even to 240fps
Youre asking too much from a tiny little $450 camera.. the amount of bit rate and heat generate even other big camera manufacturer are still struggling..
sorry but this is no monster, actually is downgrade from hero 8 in terms of low light ... and this price almost 500eur for action cam? 400 is max what should be priced
Just bought a Hero 9 Black as an upgrade to my older model and was very disappointed. Unlike Hero 7 you'll need an add-on Media Pod to get HDMI output (original C-port was blocked for video output). Also preview during recording on phone apps is not supported. Seems like Gopro is taking all its customers as suckers. Time to switch!
Some people just bought the H7/H8 and bummed by the H9 debut, but after watching some unedited footage (like this one you speak of) the difference between the cameras is not drastic. 🧐 The front screen looks laggy (2000's webcam laggy), unedited footage looks on par with other action cameras, and the added pixels just make the camera useless in lowlight. I understand this is an action camera, but if you wanna capture SOME type of footage in lowlight, you're just completely out of luck now. I like the horizon level feature, and programming shots for a specific time of day, but aside from that, doesn't seem like a worthwhile jump and a lot of reviews seem pretty biased. 🤔 Perhaps since they got the camera free from gopro to review 🤷♂️
Its already end of 2020, gopro 9, still not as good as DJI osmo action. And we both know that they will never fix the laggy touch screen. Hyperlapes is really cool tho.
I was going to trade up to the 8 from my 7 and glad now that I didn't. After all this time owning the 7, I still haven't been able to remove the lens. I hope that the 9 is an easy task. Mahalo!
re. the 7 lens cover, the first time you try to twist it, it helps if you first take a plastic spudger or some other wedged tool and gently go around the outside of the cover and pry it up a bit. Once it separates some it's easier to twist off and that pretty much loosens it enough so it comes off easier the next time.
Thanks so I have Hero 6 and Hero 8, I am waiting for Hero 10 at 500 bucks so I can complain about heating, freezing and other problems with GOPRO that we all have accepted.
Bigger??? I honestly would like to see them come out with a base spec camera that they can make as small as possible. Maybe like a super slim version. It would be great to have a camera that records 2k maximum at 240fps. Give me that with Hypersmooth3 and no live streaming. That would be cool to see how small and affordable that camera is. It would be a great 2nd point of view option.
My main reason for sticking with my ancient Sony 3000xdr is that even though it's still their most current model at over 4 years old now, it actually does things I need that GoPro in 2020 doesn't, or at least didn't. Firstly it shoots passably in low light which I found go pro horrible at, secondly the sony mic is actually pretty decent and it's got external mic jack, go pros had terrible audio and no mic jack, and third and most importantly - it consistently worked - didn't freeze, over heat or just get bored of filming my admittedly rubbish life and decide to stop on its own. If the Hero 9 can do all of these things that my 4 year old Sony can - then I'm gonna buy one, because it's waterproof, I prefer the square form factor and the touch screen and view finder and like the added stabilisation and hypertension/hyperextension/hyper whatever thing - I want that. If it can't I'm stuck in 2016 forever with Sony cos they're clearly too lazy to make a new one
so did they fix low light ? record ? cos that was the biggist let down of the cam ,,,, i had the 7 and u could not film in doors always had to be outside with sun light
Exactly.... and a 40% battery life improvement isn't nearly enough.... still barely an hour of film time. Can't change batteries in the ocean/river/snow/etc.
I just hope it works well with a constant power supply. I went through three Hero 8’s because they would only record for a few seconds to a few minutes before it just shut down. My $20 Amazon special has never done this but the video/sound quality is pretty bad.
I am actually waiting for the 10th one expecting like something big for being 10 th generation. This one looks solid, hope next version is even better.
The problem already gopro drain battery 🔋 crazy once you set it up 4k wonder how it does with extra display i guess they should focus on battery consumption before adding more drain to battery
You can use an external one, there is an adapter to allow for 3.5mm jack use, or get the media mod that has the 3.5 already on it, this is true for both the Hero 8 and 9. The nice thing about the Media Mod is the 2 cold shoes is the ability to go wireless mic with it. Yes, it does come with a shotgun mic and should be an improvement over the built in one on the camera itself without the mod. I just ordered yesterday the H9 and got the deal with a subscription for GoPro so if I need to, I can get the camera replaced, or pick up the Max at discount when the time comes, and get new accessories for half price.
the only feature this has that makes sense is the front screen, hypersmooth 3.0 & the return of the replaceable lens...other than that, not that impressive :)
because only less than 10% of users have screens more than 1080 according to recent survey and they want the video up asap and the time to process 4k might not be worth it
