The people at the beach weren’t shocked... those were sound effects. Slow the video down when he gets to the beach none of their body language looks surprised or shocked. They just dubbed over with sounds to make it more interesting.

Dog breads intended for hunting waterfowl like it most. Their jobs would include fetching the fallen bird from the water it fell into(wetlands, lakes, rivers, etc.), for probably most of the day without fault. Most common dog breads you'll see with that trait are Labradors, and Golden Retrievers.
