Agree 100%. I purchased MAX at the first day of sale at GoPro. I played with the camera for couple of days, found many disappointing things, starting with the lack of RAW format and bracketing, and sent it back without any regrets.
Wow.. long time I find the comparison between gopro max and insta360 but I don’t. Now I have concrete decisions which 360 is better for invisible stick.. I will go for buying 360 now..
THIS is what comparison video reviews should be! Absolutely stunning work, thorough and covers pros and cons for both. Undecided but woah, after watching this at least I know what I’m in for and feel very well informed! Thanks!!
Thanks for confirming that I was right to give the Max a swerve and stick with my One X. I have been tempted to pre-order the Qoocam 8k though, which hopefully should be a worthwhile upgrade on the One X. I hope Insta360 address the ruggedness and waterproof/splashproof limitations of the One X when it's successor comes out. A remote control I can actually buy, rather than being permanently out of stock, would be a real improvement too.
This could be the best comparison video between these two heavyweights that I've seen to date! This has clinched my decision to go with the One X. The only final conundrum is do I wait for the next gen or jump on this one. How long do you think it might be before the new one comes out?
Nice video.! To me, audio quality will always be as important as the video quality. I want to like the Insta360 One X but just can’t get over it’s rather unimpressive audio. I guess if you are going for ease of use, take the OneX hands down. I really love the overall quality of GoPro Max but honestly going to keep using the Fusion until the next affordable 8K 360 comes out (perhaps that may be Kandoa’s new camera just released that has a mic input jack, looking forward to your videos on that!).
Awesome review! Just what I was looking for but .... now that you showed the next generations of 360 cameras coming out I may have to wait and see what the 8K is all about. Can't wait for you to get one to review.
So, having both cameras I'll say not being able to adjust the horizon on insta360 is a critical flaw. Yes you can import it and use premier with (GOPROS) plugins, but the gopro app is actually significantly better IMO. If you have to go into premier anyway all the other things you mention which are app features make them more equal. The batteries die very very fast, it's not waterproof, and the threading for the mounting area is paper thin (I broke mine by bumping it). I do love the 360 but I'm on the fence on what's really better Voice control is also killer.. I dunno... I'm having a hard time deciding
I have insta 360 one x for few months and I just bot the max few days ago. Max have a better imagine quality but the app it's a disaster, I am disapointed. This review it is very acurate, stay away from max, better to buy insta360 or wait to see what is comming next.
Very helpful video. Thank you so much!! Wanna ask you about editing on android for one x. Has it less features than ios app? i'm thinking of buying the one x but i'm not a pro, so i'm gonna edit only on my phone. (android user)
Can you do a new comparison with Gopro Max (since the new firmare update on 360 one x is release now)? Have insta360 one x and just did a firmware update on it. Not shure i know how to edit those new stuff so could you also do an tutoral on the new firmware update?
Im sticking with OneX. They are releasing a big software update on mid November, improving video and sound quality, plus more extras on the Editing App. As a ONE X user, i find more comfortable and easier to use it rather than the MAX, even editing your videos and photos will look very professional being an amateur user.
got the MAX for several reasons rugged waterproof gopro plus replacement program service time and availability will use it for holidays 99% of the time at beaches snorkeling etc maybe some vloging insta needs to work on hardware aide gopro needs to work on features side both are excellent cameras but it depends on what uou use them for i still have my first 360 cam Xiaomi Mi Sphere which was good for photos and videos but these 2 are in a different league
Is it possible for GoPro to increase the Max FPS via an update to improve slow motion? And is that likely? Because that’s a big decider for me between that and the insta 360 one x.
My insta is great but will chop my face or other things in half depending on lighting and angles and such, so the max will really mess things up of it's worse.
@@Best360 it is surprising they don't have at least 60fps. I do think the max is better than the gopro 8. Been reviewing the 8 and gopro dropped the ball on this release. I like the color profile on the max more but like my insta editing software tons as well as some of its other options. Insta is pushing limits and making cool stuff. I'm looking forward to the next release.
Great review, really helpful! I have a question about the file sizes with gopro Max. I intent to edit my gopro Max footage in the app on my IPhone 11 Pro. If I then save the edited clips to my Iphone library I can export them to my (crappy) laptop, where I edit al my other footage from a hero 7 black (in premiere pro in windows). Are the .mov file sizes of already edited and exported files also very large? Or should that be no problem?
I have a lot to say on this, but a good wrap up in the end. Hehe, yeah six months down the line to get the full use of a 360 camera, it's like that with them all :) It really comes down to your workflow preference and the type of content your wishing to make.
thanks for the review i had a question : is 0:41 gopro image colors what you saw in real life ? a tree bark that is yellow, really ? from what i see gopro image has no chromatic aberration vs a lot in insta360 one x.
The colour of the leaves was yellow. Which doesn't come across in the ONE X footage. It does look a bit too warm maybe. Something you can fix in post pretty easily :)
an excellent video. I bought the insta360 thanks to your videos, but now I'm going to wait for Insta360 to launch its new 360 camera because I'm sure it won't allow Gopro to continue stealing customers. Now, I have two questions. If the bit rate per second that Gopro records on each video is much lower than Insta360 (that's a fact that seems real), how is it possible for Gopro videos to look more defined and detailed? And the last question, When a video is rendered with the Insta360 application the result is a video with less resolution and less detail than when it is rendered from desktop software, then, the final quality of the video rendered with the application is better in Gopro or Insta360? One more thing, is it true that Gopro does not have desktop editing and rendering software? One more thing, is it true that Gopro does not have desktop editing and rendering software?
So GoPro records in h265 which is a more efficient compression algorithm and retains more quality. ONE X records in h264 which is a more lossy compression algorithm. So GoPro is basically using newer tech to retain more quality in less space. There is GoPro software to export 360 video on Windows, but only Mac has a Studio to reframe the 360 video. I think Insta360 and GoPro make pretty similar quality videos on mobile. It's hard to tell the difference on smaller screens
It's automatic through ONE X software but there are some things you can do to help reduce the stitch line effect. Like try keep the subject in front of the lens and not on the side of the camera. If the ONE X is on a selfie stick then make sure your selfie stick is fully extended so it has more room for a better stitch line.
I've personally not had a bad experience with Insta360. Gopro still hasn't refunded my money for the MAX since I returned it more than a month ago. But their customer service was fine on live chat.
Another brilliant comparison bud! I’m glad I’ve bought the Insta360. Still getting used to all the features though. Btw if you are sending the GoPro Max back, I’ll give you my address to send it to :-p
lol the one x stitching doesnt win, sure the pixels line up better, but the difference in exposure just ruins the entire picture where as the max's one is managable
@@Best360 Yeah ... i've decided as a Mom that if i would buy a 360 camera for my family travels and events NOW, it would be the max as it is more easy to use without the phone, waterproof, rugged, good sound, good battery life and i will leave the workflow aside till gopro fixes it and come up with a strong desktop sofware. And if NOT now ... i will wait for the qoocam 8k or the next generation of insta360 cameras. But, definetly i will not buy the insta360 one x as i already have a baby and i can't handle 2 babies right now 😉😁
@@Best360 Thank you. A term I have not heard. My concern is the sides and the top of the case showing a black line due to the thickness and frame of the case.
a really good review, as i told you before, i think the worst feature of the insta360 one x is the photo, because the distortion of the image is to big
@@Best360 i don't know if i understood quite well, i did some trials about this. the best result i get is to put the camera at the same height like you
@@Best360 you are right, I gave a shit, just bought it - we'll see - the length of the insta stick looks more versatile ... going to use my "old" sony stick of the x3000 (normal action cam with OIS)
Dang it shonil I think GoPro Max oh wait I think Insta360, I’m so confuse LOL. Yeah insta got that red but it doesn’t bother me Dot but I like the the GoPro max rigidity okay I want the GO Pro Max ha ha I both love them
