I'm glad I aint the only one who is a bit uneasy watching this, my heart rate goes up looking around and seeing the endless ocean surrounding the diver. Thallasaphobia is probably one of the most rational fears to exist, despite it's beauty the environment is utterly inhospitable to us and yet it covers 71% of our planet.

Everyone in the comments like “this is terrifying!” but I’ve never been more exhilerated by a concept in my life. My biggest dream is to jump into the ocean and unexpectedly find whales swimming beneath me. I love the idea of the vast depths yawning out beneath me, willing at any given moment to swallow me up and simply choosing not to. If I could live in the ocean, with my entire life surrounded by endless blue and the unknowable darkness beneath me, I think that’d be my ideal state of being.

Strangely, I'm terrified of the vastness and depth (not to mention the amount of scary creatures) of the ocean. Yet, I find the idea of swimming alongside baleen whales, orcas or dolphins quite comforting and awe inspiring.

I don’t find swimming with Orcas comforting at all lol, I know they don’t have killed any human in the wild, but still: they are the most powerful predators on the planet, and I don’t wanna be the first recorded dead. And Whales? As long as I’m far enough, imagine by their size they don’t see you and its tail just knocks you out or something by accident!

I’m the same. I can’t even swim right off the beach, let alone in the deep ocean. I also struggle with it when I’m on ferries! To me it’s very similar to the thought of being cast adrift and alone in space. The vastness is absolutely terrifying.

This was awesome! I recommend anyone who loved this watches the go pro film about getting that perfect shot with the blue whale! Can't remember what it was called but it totally changed my feelings on things and this whale is the most awesome thing, I hope they are still their when I manage to save up the money to travel and do dives, save the planet people xx

As a diver. I was once diving with whale sharks in the Maldives. They were the biggest thing I’ve ever see! I was scared, without a doubt. Mostly because of her fins. Whales fines could weigh over 2 tons, one smack from them and your either dead or extremely injured. It’s the equivalent of you as a fly and a human as the whale a shark. It waves it arms and it’ll kill the fly. It gives me the fight. But I was shocked to see 6 whale sharks all together. It was extraordinary. But also frightening. I couldn’t imagine being in your place and seeing the largest creature known to man swim by so innocently yet so menacingly. It has no intention to kill you or hurt you. But it can. A lot. It doesn’t realise how amazing and rare it is.

In Florida we have spring full of manatees and I went swimming with them and even the most cuddly and sweet creatures are terrifying in the water especially when they make you look small so this is just crazy

Can we also have a moment to appreciate the sounds of the animal? Typically when you try to find blue whale sounds online, you just get stock humpback whale songs. However, this feels very unique from that of a humpback, almost like a big lion.

Anyone wondering why this guys keeps pressing his noes well thats because pressure increases with decrease in height. In order to withstand the pressure he presses his noes which in scuba diving is known as equalizing. Its the same feeling in a plane. ")
