Gord Downie, The Tragically Hip front man, has died. The poetic singer-songwriter was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an incurable and rare form of cancer, in May of 2016. Teri Hart looks back at the career of the Canadian musical icon.
That's so true when he said "You're gonna miss me, wait and you'll see, fully and completely" Now I'm stuck with the feverous dream. I could never reply to ... How's the concert??? About any band this way..... only the Hip.... the concert was intense. Cuz that was the level of emotions this man would put into it. A lot singers belong only in a recording studio.... this man belonged on stage. Front and center and gave each and everyone of us his attention and of course with his will and determination skill and it's frustration he had Grace Too. In every city and town ... street. Every Time Hortons drive thru.... all radio stations are playing your favorite Hip song on this day and your hearing it and picturing him at this moment We are Gord Downie today on this very day. Miss you buddy. Love you friend.
For a poet, a songwriter and the lead singer from my all time favorite band, I'm left speechless. There are no words that I can think of that do Gord justice. RIP Gord and thank-you.
Gord Downie, poet, singer, Father, beloved Canadian. Thank you for the music, and thank you for standing up for First Nations issues. you will be missed....
Gord, you were amazing with endless love, passion and such touching and meaningful lyrics....You and your music will forever live on in our hearts R.I.P 😭
I heard it in the drive thru at Tim Hortons in Winnipeg about the saddest news in our lives. Lil tears. Went back home. Going to work late today. Playing Hip songs on every radio station. 92 is now on it's 5th song in a row. It's like an earth quake ripped thru the country
It's really cool how a Canadian icon pleaded to our Prime Minister to take indigenous troubles seriously, and then years later there's not really much to show for it. We can do better.
Man it sucks that all these spectacular singers are passing away, Tom Petty, Gord Downie, etc. They're gone too soon. R.I.P Gord Downie you were a legend and still are.
Justin was the one I. meant you keep strong I am sure he's in ur heart and soul he will be remember and by the news now chc keep wisdom in ur heart and all. 🙏
He was also bestowed an eagle feather by the Assembly of First Nations and an aboriginal name, Wicapi Omani. In Lakota it means "man who walks among the stars".
Listen to "New Orleans is Sinking" by "The Tragically Hip"......then you will get a taste....Enjoy. Btw, we are happy they never hit big in the states, although they have a huge following.....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ttY766CIOik.html
Thank you for posting that. I didn't mean to be snarky, but am so used to Canadians (if they are good) coming to the U.S. to make their art, a la Drake, Gosling, Bieber, Ackroyd, Sutherland, etc.... He seems like a good person and died way too young.
@@donbrown1284 He is literally everything you want a role model to be. Kind, intelligent man, full of emotions, not afraid to show them, and Canadian to the core.
you are in everyone's heart for family chc and trump or people of music you want the best just like a dream for each . tears of love tears of sad we will be waitting here and song Bryan Adams would sing baby ur all I want were in heaven u are free to fly to laugh and u shine right now for all chc and everyone watching he this man is in peace of our 💖🙏 so many words to say but we will always hear the music and feel his soul around all. amen keep strong trump keep strong chc keep strong to all who new him amen
Perhaps a good dose of CBD oil could have helped diminish the tumor or at least alleviated much of the symptoms at any rate a great man and musician is gone, but will forever live in our hearts. The impact you left in such a short period of time is profound!!
Tragically Hip. To im Tragically Hurt. Sorry... not to sound like cheese. Still can't believe it. I don't speak or write good about death. Death bothers me because I'm alive to see it surrounding all of us every day and Gord's death bothered me very deeply. But you all speak well of him so I've been reading beautiful things about Gord and it's nice to see
Wow what a horrible weeke for Canada..first John dunsworth ( jim lahey) and now gord downie and they say it usually comes in threes. I heard Micheal J Fox is losing his battle with Parkinson's, I really hope he isn't next because that would devastate me :(
Never heard of him....may be cuz he was Canadian like city news said in their report they were Tragically who???? in America lol...but after listening to him thank God didn't heard of him
