Every time they show that the restaurant has a basement that they store food in you just know it’s gonna be bad. People always forget stuff that’s stored in the basement, and food is not something you want to forget about being stored. Heck, no one ever cleans as much as they should down there either.

Part of the reason I do not wanna work at a food establishment 😭 1. The deep cleaning is too much work / effort like I hate cleaning my own kitchen and 2. If they don’t deep clean or do something wrong I will never eat out again 😭

Name of this restaurant is Diwan. It is in Port Washington long Island new york. I worked there for 4 days. I couldn't stand their disgusting kitchen and basement. I immediately quit the job.

Yesss, that's his honesty...he's a "straight Guy", he isn't "brutal" - or is to be honest "brutal" for you or anybody else? Straight Guy is what we say in Germany and it means, that a Person (doesn't matter if Man or Woman!) can stand his Faults and Mistakes and clean them up and learn to do it much better.

Having worked in kitchens, I would put a lot of that on the kitchen staff but also on the management because I've been in places where they didn't want to pay staff for their time to sort through the crowded freezers & get rid of old or unlabeled food. Sometimes it takes a number of people all coming together to run a restaurant this badly.

@@crazylife726nah even so I would def clean up or something. For sure Gordon does a surprise visit and the cameras are placed in there for a while before proper film day, so they are kind of forgotten by staff.

nah, that's just how elderly indian men carry phones. Back in the day, Indian government servants had large breast pockets in their uniform and carried their phones there. Phones came a little late here, and about 20 years ago it was very common practice. Until people realised it can cause heart disease and stopped. But Indians who left for the US before that, well they kept up the habit, among many others.

@iPhong Hands have nothing to do with sanitization. Gloves are worse. It's the terrible storage conditions like heat, and exposure to direct sunlight that is why street food is low on inspection reports

Its a tropical country and food goes bad too soon. Fresh produce is abundant here. Get ur facts checked. All Indians here almost on the verge of puking.

Not going to defend anyone here but if you watch other episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, you'll find every single restaurant has this sort of problem! I remember things being even more worse and disgusting in American-owned and Greek-owned restaurants and you'll find videos of that too, not making it up! It's like a global problem of a failed restaurant and it does not represent how a certain community lives, it's more about the mindset that one individual has. Unless you have a specific feeling about Indians and you need more points to hate them. Let's just see from a mature perspective as grown adults and have love for each other, that's all I'm saying. Bless! :)
