I was so relieved when i heard her say she was reconsidering marrying him. Girl, run! I don't care how anxious or whatever else a person is - that is no way to treat a loved one. The verbal abuse will eventually turn physical.

So crazy how she keeps saying everyone only checks in on chris and then her mother needs to be told to let her have a break after she coddles him. Cannot believe the moms said they didn't want her breaking up with him. IDC how stressed you are, taking it out on your chronically ill fiance after she QUIT HER JOB to work at the restaurant YOU wanted is disgusting and i hope she finds someone who treats her better

I was watching this with my 13 year old son. He said if any guy spoke to his sister that way, he’d make him disappear. Even a kid knows this is terrible, toxic behavior. I can’t believe his mom (and hers) stood helplessly by as he verbally abused her.

Meanwhile Tess has had 13 surgeries, is at risk of more problems due to tress, and has to wear a colostomy bag while everyone around her babies the abusive Chris. (They even baby him right after he makes Tess cry! WTF) I really want to smack the mothers. That made me so furious. Disgraceful failures, the lot of them. I hope Tess is doing better now, and is away from Chris and his mother. Ginny has a mountain of mistakes to make up for concerning her daughter. She disgusted me the most, allowing all of this to happen to her child knowing the risk posed to her life via the stress, while enabling the man that uses Tess as a verbal and emotional punching bag. Just vile.

This is a very bad example of how to handle an abusive relationship. No, you cannot fix him -- especially not with one televised counseling session. The problem is not the restaurant. The problem is how, whenever he's scared, he takes his control back by funneling his insecurities directly into his partner. Fundamentally, that means he values his comfort and security at the direct expense of hers. Why should she endure that? That's not love. That's a parasite.

As a disabled person with Ehlers Danlos herself who was in an abusive relationship…. I’m very disturbed for Tess. I see a lot of (maybe) obvious red flags in this guy. I’m quite worried about this woman even offscreen. This doesn’t appear to be a “Sammy & Amy” dynamic where both parties are equally toxic. If he’s willing to behave this way with the cameras on….. imagine once they turn off! (Yes I know they said it was done stealthily….) He seems to be intentionally ignoring her conditions even steamrolling them with his own anxieties that give him digestive issues whilst she’s sitting here without a large chunk of her digestive tract. 🚩 he uses his poor mental health as an excuse in my opinion just like his mum does. I hope everything goes for the best even with the place closing & they don’t get too isolated.

Chris saying fuck you to his fiancee and then saying he doesn't know what he'd do without her made me so mad She sounds like she's scared and about to cry every time she talks to him

I love Gordon. Seeing him sympathize with that girl, tell her he appreciates what she does, hug her when she’s crying....I bet he saw his own daughters in her a bit. ❤️

Chris was a straight up monster. He doesnt need to be in the business. His dry heaving was disgusting. I would get up and leave after hearing that and the way he talks to people. Doesnt deserve the business with his attitude. You could see he was going to slip right back to his old ways.

It was hard to watch Tess being abused like that. Her partner should be doing everything he can to help them. Tell her to rest at home. It must have been the first time in a very long time that shes felt kindness towards HER when Gordon told her he was concerned for her

It's horrifying because he somehow isn't aware of how abusive he's being. He says they're at 'each other's throats', but she tells him the simplest, base-line things like "make sure it's special for Gordon' and he gets on her, his own fiancé, telling her to shut up and 'let him do his thing'?? and for six years. I wouldn't even had made it through the first half year with that toxic, insufferable, ignorant dumpster fire of a man. Being anxious is no excuse to treat the women in his life like that. Especially because of what she's gone through with all of her surgeries. I haven't finished the episode yet, and I honestly don't want to see them back together. I hope Tess splits him and finds someone who knows how to treat her like a person. This poor, sweet girl. She wants to find a balance, and he can't see it. He is the focal point of stress and toxicity in the restaurant. Justice for Tess. I can't even imagine what the pain must feel like.

Now that they’ve sold the restaurant, I wonder if Chris is miserable, angry and abusive about being unemployed?

I saw this exact thing happen with my sister and her ex. He did have anxiety and depression - our mom even paid for his therapy at first, but then she saw through his BS. He would use it to manipulate my sister (and our family) and it escalated to him threatening my sister with harming or killing himself if she left him. Ofc his mom coddled him and denied everything. I hope I never see him again - for his sake. These things can escalate SO quickly, and I hope Tess eventually gets out. His mom says that he has turned into a different person because of the restaurant. No. It revealed who he truly is.

The fact that you don't even see them kiss just shows how deeply the relationship is strained but both holding on for dear life

Tess if you are reading this: it’s not the restaurant, it’s WHO HE IS! I lived this (down to the chronic digestive illness) and wish someone had told me to leave BEFORE I got married. I’m now going through divorce and I’ll soon be free. Men like this are not worth your stress, health, and life. And they never get “better.” I’m also a doctor of relationship science, so trust me when I say it’s not your fault and it can happen to anyone. Men like this are a special kind of manipulative. Look up covert narcissism. His mother has always allowed him to be like this and he’ll never be better.

Wow! Such a different episode! Gordon shows that he is not only a great chef but an amazing human being! Even his tone of voice is changed from the usual strong tongue... I am actually happy I found this episode...

You can blame the stress of the restaurant all you want, but that kind of behavior doesn’t just manifest over night. That’s abusive behavior that would have shown eventually during their marriage. He is toxic and doesn’t deserve any relationship that alone with a sweetheart like Tess.

Chris is so abusive oh my god. This episode is so triggering. He’s verbally and emotionally abusive.

If you’re so worried about her leaving you, maybe don’t be a dick. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to not be a dick. You’re stressed so is she. You don’t need to be taking it out on her. You’re a grown man who can find his own ways of dealing with his stress 🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s not hard. Also, I have an anxiety disorder (meds and therapy lol 😅) and this is not what that is. Being anxious doesn’t make you a dick. It can make you irritable but you’re still responsible for your actions. You can and do have control over what you’re doing.

OMG! THIS was a heartbreaking episode!!! Gordon is really out here saving lives and bringing families together!!! And yes, tears was shed from this viewer...

I’ve always respected Gordon but golly, this episode just made me look at him with even more respect than before. What a wonderful man.

There is absolutely NO WAY I would ever treat the love of my life like that. Things like this should be serving as tests to see if we work well together as a team under high-pressure situations. The way he speaks to her, I cannot fathom telling my boyfriend to “shut up”, “get away from me” berating him, calling him names, and ignoring him when he’s on the verge of crying because of what I’ve said. But the fact that the guy is willing to do this to his “fiancé” comfortably is insane to me.

He’s an abuser. I feel so bad for her because she seems to think it’s just about the restaurant but the insults are personal and excessive. He uses the stress from the restaurant to get away with treating her badly. She even says that he never apologizes after work for how he treats her. I really hope she left him because if it is the stress then he’ll act like that in other stressful situations like idk in a marriage or while raising kids. I think it’s interesting one of their moms talked about Tess and Chris “clashing” but he’s just insulting her while she cries and occasionally stands up for herself. This isn’t a mutually toxic relationship. He’s an abuser and she’s the victim.

I’ve lived here my entire life and I went there one time, never again. The neighboring restaurant is my town’s FAVORITE it’s amazing ❤ and it takes all the attention from love bites, it’s probably the only thing that has kept them running. Love Bites closed a month after the episode was shown. It was actually already sold, the sell finalized right before the episode aired. The new owner changed everything Ramsey did in the redo and the place is now called, The Town Cafe. On their Facebook post Chris and Tess said they were closing after six years to repair their health and relationship. Let's hope for their renewed passion for each other!

Anxiety isn't ever an excuse to talk to someone like they are lower than a dog. I have chronic anxiety and never speak to anyone I love in this manner. What a shameful excuse from a narcissist.

Did Tess and the mothers even get paid for working for the guy? Not even married and the mothers are caught up in the son's business like it's an obligation. The guy is irresponsible.

I used to live in Saugerties. Lived there for a large chunk of my life. Used to walk around town all the time, so it's kinda neat seeing the flyby camera at the start and stuff. All the rivers and waterfalls really bring back good memories, of me and some friends exploring the woods, walking across rocks in the river, and fishing. Kinda surprised Gordon didn't completely rip into the food. Said at least SOME stuff was "okay", which is more than can be said for most places on this show.

Chris needed to put his head down and cook. Instead he had to be sarcastic and comment on everything. He demoralized his staff and customers. As a guest, I would have left with the negativity flying around. I was a chef when I retired. I would not put up with his nonsense. If he needs medical care, it is up to him to get it.

His mother should of stepped in from the very moment and told him to not speak to his fiancé like that, her mother should have put him in his place as well. Bs trio

Ngl, I will really miss the "Dramatic Violen Sound Effect" the old Kitchen Nightmares had. Yeah it was annoying but it also had charm to it in a werid way plus it was funny to hear at places where it didn't belong lol. Still, I love the modern approach Gordan took with this revival of KN.

They should call the restaurant love-bombs, not bites.

Narcissists and abusive partners don't show their abusive and narcissistic side until later on in the relationship where it's "too late" for a break up
