Hilariously it was only Blairites laughing so far because they knew better than anyone how terrified and tragically insecure Brown was of being overtaken in reputation once again by his fabled rival Mr. Blair
I'm not a Tory supporter, but William Hague is absolutely hilarious. What a legend. It's like he's delivering a monologue from a Shakespearean play. XD XD
Renegade Shep loves his M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon Yes it is. An even better one from the OP given that William Hague is extremely pretentious and not a lyrical genius or even anywhere close.
@@donbarzinitut He didn't make an assumption. His point was a simile based on personal thoughts. And that's fine, because actors tend to have different styles.
Renegade Shep loves his M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon All similes are based on personal thoughts ‘genius’ and this is an assertion because one thing true to one person may be not so to another. The fact that we’re having an argument over it proves that premise. But it wasn’t a simile anyway because it wasn’t of a different type category or kind as the the person he compared Hague to was within the confines of English writers the general subject of literature and vernacular.
I'm an American and have watched this clips dozens+ of times because of the sheer entertainment value I get out of it. Not to mention its a chance for me to see a real skilled, savvy political leader not like the clowns we have in this country.
@@RGiacobbe Ah, I meant it more specifically to the Blair/Brown pact but I am watching the full speech and I am beginning to understand it is about the Lisbon Treaty of 2009 (Right? Brown was late to sign it.). I barely understand the E.U.
Hi Paul, It's not "on the newfuss" but "on manoeuvres", which ordinarily refers to military activities in preparation for battle. In this context, it mocks Blair's recent actions and words as being soley for the purpose of securing the position of EU president. Hope that helps. :)
This is absolute classic stuff...love it! I wouldn't change the comedy of scenes like this and PMQs for anything...it's the most interesting part of British politics. How can all you stick in the muds have a go at the house for laughing and making light? We get to see that they are human beings and although there are serious problems to be dealt with, it does not always have to be doom and gloom! Bravo! Encore! William Hague is a legend!
He is still to this day one of the last true Tory Eurosceptics as Thatcher in her day- Halt expansion, excercise the great influence of the UK within its precipes to move the conversation and balance of power to a stable and apt economic union instead of a political one by winning over smaller states to your side. They most all understand the de facto nature of which huge markets control one's economy by force instead of agreement without first having influence in it. However in a world hurdling towards "America First above all others, China First, Japan First, etc." policies of protectionism where free trade agreements newly formed are tailor-made by the bigger party for itself including America, its also been understood among them giving up all that influence and advantage on the world stage BY FUCKING LEAVING THE DARNED THING... IS MAJORLY FUCKING RETARDED! YOURE SIGNING YOURSELVES OVER FROM A COUNCIL YOU HOLD THE 2ND BIGGEST POWER IN STRAIGHT TO THE GLOBALIST ELITES OF WHICH YOU CAN NOT HOPE TO ASCERTAIN! COME ON!
@@thehotwombat The speech literally makes the point that Brown is woefully ignorant the opinion of Europe unlike browns labour not only reveres Blair as a statesmen, but would be more than excited to nominated him for the EU presidency without caring about Browns insecurities about his own legacy
Thanks for your comment. This video was posted some time ago, back when RU-vid was young. I've updated the tags and description to hopefully make searching easier.
anyone know where the video of Hague on Madleson - referring to him as an Arch bishop or something similar? ... that video has disappeared from RU-vid! ..... so damn funny
William Hague came too early. He would have made a far better Prime Minister than Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak and I am a Labour member. He was Eurosceptic yes but in the early days of May post Brexit vote he advised pragmatism not daft dog whistle politics: a very shrewd guy.
There is currently a legal challenge in action at the moment in the Hight court, to test the legality of the refusal to hold a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, as it is identical to The failed EU constitution, I hope it succeeds! You are right on the money on this issue, Jenny.
the only main stream party that has stood on a "withdraw" policy is Labour in 1983, the election in one Gordon Brown was first elected to the House of Commons. it has never and will never be Conservative party policy to withdraw from the EU. We took the Country in, in, 1973.
@smoochym I think a small amount of inefficiency is a fair price to pay for a decent standard of universal healthcare. Turning healthcare into a free market would almost certainly lower the level of healthcare available to those with less money, pricing some people out of it completely (as in the US). Countries such as Sweden and Norway have very high levels of tax and very strong economies, encorporating both state ownership of certain sectors and private enterprise within the free market.
William is without a doubt the most competent orator in Parliament since he was elected - his place in history will be viewed for both his errudity & his wit even The Milliepied was unable to avoid joining in without having to reach for the little bag of soil around his neck or avoiding the sunlight! I know of no other video where his metronomic persona failed save perhaps amongst his neophites which thankfully I have been spared - This brings meaning to the bloodless coupe Prudence can expect!
Hague is a brilliant man. He is funny but has the political knowledge and ability to back it up. A wonderful speaker, he truly is a treasure of the Conservative party.
Sadly, they will find a way to reverse Ireland's decision, or perhaps use it as an excuse to exclude Ireland's membership of the EU. The only way is for Britain to leave the EU altogether. Iceland and Norway aren't EU members, but they have the same trading rights as us, but aren't paying £35,000 an hour to be a member!
I would be more than happy if we had a permanent president of Europe. Our society would be neither more nor less democratic than it is now. But William Hague is amazing!
I wish RU-vid still had the video of Hague's speech for the Dissolution of Parliament. I think it was even better than this one as far as his oratory skills go.
Hospitals are not places to have "good times." All I expect is competent doctors, and I've had a couple of bad ones, and my aunt, at the same hospital in Chertsey, where they wrecked her leg. Luckily I had the inelligence to take myself to a better hospital. The NHS is going to eventually hit the buffers thanks to Labour's PFI. These PFI companies are a virtual black hole to state funding, eg. the will often charge the NHS £200 or more just to change a fluorescent tube.
No UK even has a unfair rebate that Thatcher demanded. If the UK leaves the EU not much will happen - for the EU at least. The EU (EC) was founded without it and it will manage if it leaves again. But, with leaving the EU the UK will also leave the Free Trade and Tariffs area. Good luck to renegotiate one.
Bully for Hague, his candor and eloquence give one hope for the Tories return to power - especially if Mister Brown is the best Labour can manage. Of course I am rather biased, I've been a fan of his since his Foreign Land speech back in 2001.
Iam a Scottish nationalist and even i am a huge fan of William Hague, his oratory skills are unmatched in modern politics.A true political heavyweight,he would put to shame the shower of numpties that we have elected here in Scotland.
