Y'know, filming with a crappy 5 fps, 360p grainy a** phone in a dark room with that color tone really sells the idea of a "fine night". Just you, in your studio, with a phone, a drum kit and the mood to vibe. It was a night, and it was a fine one.
this is insane and i think i am positively terrified of you. loli in early 20s, goreshit, sewerslvt, machine girl covers? my man you are out of your mind and i am blown away, amazing work
@@karlfagerstrom these are my fave breakcore tracks, maybe you'll like them: pisca - sotsugyou desu ne LOONA - Hi High (Sewerslvt Remix) Emray - Kya~ncer - 02 Bed Head
will never forget how pretty your setup looks. W drumming. also the captions + the bg footage of dkc + your drumming make for such a wonderful combo. beautifully chaotic. ♥♥
If vibe lighting is available, you gotta use it. Even if it's the middle of the day and it's coffee time. And even though it makes cameras all work even worse (due to the dark). I still need my vibes. (also, *thank* you)
This cover sounded amazing, and the captions do add a lot to the video :D! Anyways, you already have 8k subscribers! They were only 4k last time i checked, you're getting bigger, swamp monster :'p.
@@karlfagerstrom it absolutely is part of the charm ! Would be fun to collab on some kind of production if you’re up for it, I make weird and broken electronic punk music
I am *always* very down. Weird and broken electronic punk music is literally my *absolute* jam. It's *exactly* what I try to do on my own stuff (look up Flesh Produce on Spotify, I produce all of that and my friend Myla sings over it). But yeah, feel free to send me shit over email or IG that I could play over when I have time. I also have a folder of drum stems from these drum covers that I can share right now if you wanna chop and sample.
@@karlfagerstrom damn, flesh produce goes so hard, that’s insane We’ve been taking a bit of a break lately due to taking ages to build a new studio after moving but I could send you some demos Also some drum samples would be awesome, I rarely use them, I’d love to try it out ! Similarly if you want some weird sounds or some shitty vocals on a track that could be really fun, I’ll dm you on IG !
It's *very* playable - if you listen carefully I'm adding a ton of stuff you don't need to do and even *my* version is mostly easy. I could make a basic tutorial vid but I bet you could figure it out if you listen closely!
This barrage of shows I've been playing and the fact I'm just destroying the drum set every time has *absolutely* helped my stamina. I thoroughly recommend beating up the drums as hard and as often as you can. And *thank* you.
Thank you....I've been experimenting with the Glyn Johns 3-mic technique for more stereo spread than my existing one mic setup (which I then try to add fake spread on with plug-ins)...I'll try to bust that out soon, too
@@karlfagerstrom hah thank you for letting me use your drum cover in the video and also for mentioning it, please keep doing these drum covers, they're amazing.
this is great!! i just found your channel not too long ago from your cover of girl hell 1999, so cool to see someone doing drum covers of some of my favorite artists! also, 2:16 i think it's funny to mention that this artist actually sampled a song from DKC in one of their songs, specifically "watch it flow". maybe if you're looking for another repetitive beat to drum to, then that'd be a good pick? :3
Thank you 🙏 I don't have *that* many subs or views, etc., but I *am* really proud of my 99.8% like-to-dislike ratio. And I've gotten over a million views total - which isn't enough for me to brag about by any means, but it's enough that that ratio actually *means* something. My terrible gear and audio/video quality are probably a turn-off for most people, but the ones who stick around enjoy what I do, and I'm cool with that. That said, tell your friends to watch and also give me money, because almost all of these vids are copyright-claimed lolllllll (although, luckily my two highest-viewed videos aren't, thank jeebus 🙏 aka thank you Sewerslvt for helping me go semi-viral with copyright-free music)
this is my favorite goreshit song dude, its so chill compared to some of his other stuff. i'd love to see you do some songs from the goretrance 9 album.
@@karlfagerstrom ahahaha i get it! i wish a bunch of artists could get on board and keep our music off that bitch until better terms are negotiated, but ill be sure to keep that bandcamp updated in the meantime....
Also I threw our first collab on my new album! it fit so well w/ the new material, I wanted to present it there and hopefully give it some more attention for people who became aware of me after submerge. I will have to take it off the 1st album one day lol
Gracias por preocuparte... Voy a tratar de mantenerme así. Tal vez un Patreon me ayudaría a poder pagar el tiempo que se necesita para hacer videos. Debería mirar en eso.
Thanks dude. Although I've been getting some recognition in the real world, at least. Might make a community post about it later, but check out this article: www.thestranger.com/music/2023/07/24/79091433/rebecca-black-muna-flesh-produce-and-people-crowd-surfing-in-pool-floats?fbclid=PAAaa5MXjB8vSVkZcDhnzjiT5YlK6TYO8COrjB5rnk_zDO0mjSlY-YME4uQlQ ...that said, I don't really care about clout. As long as I can pay my rent doing what I love, I'm happy.
YOU. ARE. ABSOLUTELY. AMAZING!!! holy fucking shit... I wish there was a drummer like you where I live, so we could jam together. absolutely perfect. by the love of god keep it up.
One of my favorites; also for the Sewerslvt Goodbye cover. Also would like to request Midnight Club by Telemist, I think that would just about break my brain
Thank you so much, dude. You're the only person who donated, so I'll *def* look into Midnight Club (granted I shouldn't expect much from a community post).
These captions are killing me, once again great drum cover, not my fav song in the world but you just made it 10x better with this drum cover, like with every song you do :3
Thank you so much, that means a ton (not just appreciating the drumming but my silly captions etc...I like to at least show *some* personality, even if I never actually speak)
@@karlfagerstrom no problem, they definitely capture people's attention for longer and give people a second thing to look at, definitely made me laugh. Keep on going i look forward to every new cover you post :3
Thank you 🙏 I'm now realizing I should be actually mentioning / promoting the fact that I have lots of openings for zoom lessons, and that I wanna teach my subscribers for a very discounted rate. And I can't announce that without making another cover vid and putting it on the captions, so I guess I better make another popular cover vid stat hahaha
@@karlfagerstrom Haha! That would be great promotion, maybe try and go for a phonk song or break-core song in the hundreds of thousands of views? A good one could be onionfriends2004 by bye2. It's pretty long and pretty break-corey so it'll be a great workout and could drive more people into your channel. As for the zoom lessons I'd love to join but I don't have any money lol, but good luck on it, I hope you succeed because you really have the talent and the skill to.
Thank you for the kind words! And no worries, I'm obviously broke asl myself hahaha...but I know I have some fans who aren't, and I'm squandering this platform. I think I also wanna make a Patreon but for one-off song requests, not sure. But I'll definitely check out onionfriends2004, any new phonk that piques my interest, and of course any other ideas you've got!
WICKED video, you have showed me countless times that playing breakcore and jungle beats on drums is very possible, i just have to put the effort into learning them haha.
This one is *especially* doable, if you leave out all the noodles and fills I added. If you want any help though, you can hit me up at Karl.fagerstrom@gmail.com
@@karlfagerstromi can kinda hear what you’re doing it’s just i’ll have to do it at like half tempo lmao. I’ll be sure to drop by if i got questions. do you any notation for the groove at all?
I used notation to learn different grooves way back in the day, but over time, the more you know how to play, the easier it is to hear what is going on (even if it's electronically produced, etc.). So now, mostly just hearing/feeling it, but using notation to learn new grooves certainly doesn't hurt.
@@karlfagerstrom ah yea, I defo feel more comfortable learning by ear as I gain more experience, would be really cool to learn any groove just by ear, I probably just gotta practice hearing grooves and then playing them more because I feel like a lobotomite having to rely on sheet music sometimes lmao.
Thank you! Also, I'm trying to keep it up - I think I need a Patreon or something, because I'd love to make this an actual side hustle instead of a fun hobby I have no time for.
I know :/ I wanna get better at uploading. I teach lessons and play tons of shows (which is dope), but also spend a lot of time doing dumb odd jobs (and which is not dope), and I wish I could turn that time into RU-vid-ing. I really do love it and wish I didn't leave people waiting so long for stuff considering it's amazing they even show up to this DIY-ass channel.
amazing cover of an amazing song. really dont understand how you pull some of this stuff and stay on time. btw i think the camera really adds to the vibe
Thank you so much. It's pretty important with this stuff to get into a flow state. And record plenty of takes haha...oh and thanks about the camera; my aesthetic is definitely "this guy can't afford proper equipment but somehow it's a *vibe*"
i definitely get the flow state thing when drumming, just wondering if you make up these fills on the fly or if you have some go to fills you just vary through
There's multiple comments on this video alone asking about ULTRAKILL, and I got requested it a few times in the past, too. So I'm gonna spam this to all of them - when I first got a Cyber Grind request, it went in my Soundcloud likes and I *love* it. It became a "someday I'll cover it" song, cuz the double pedal on the metal-y parts was a bit too much for me. But lately I've been getting much better at that (even with pretty flawed left foot technique) just by simply pushing myself, so I think it might be a "I need to cover it *asap* when I get another break from shows" song.
I *love* hxc - I have some OG shit already if you wanna check old vids (like a Converge song, for instance - which is here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bAyk24mOQNc.html)
I'll never be done. I may take forever, but I especially love finding songs that I love that are *just* a bit too hard (not this one, it was pretty easy tbh). They're always a super fun challenge.
I'd *love* that! Although it's gotta be #karlfagerstrom (no hard feelings, my name is pretty much impossible to spell, I'm well aware hahaha). Much love!
Thank you so much! I'm glad people are willing to tolerate my terrible video quality and almost as bad audio quality, so I can't half-ass it on the actual drumming lol
