I have the Gretsch USA Custom Rosewood Gloss Lacquer in the Progressive Jazz size; 20/12/14. I love it, and it was a drum kit I waited my entire drumming life to purchase. (I am 61 and could never justify the investment while I had two young daughters at home). They have moved on to their homes now. I love this kit, it is always what I was hoping for. It matches the USA Rosewood snare drum my future wife bought for me about 30 years ago. 🇺🇸🥁

My favorite finish. Seems like Yamaha had a similar stain on their high-end line in the 80's. Beautiful, just beautiful!!

One of the nicest drum finishes around. If I ever go for a high end kit, this may be the color!! And I’m surprised how amazing it sounds at a low tuning for smaller drums, just listening alone I would have imagined at least a 22 inch kick!!

Great playing by Steve Jr! Those drums are simply gorgeous! (The red rosewood Gretsch USA kit I got in 1984 was the most beautiful drumset I've ever owned.)

OMG, that is such a gorgeous kit. Sounds great in low and high tuning so it is definitely a versatile kit. Oh and the ride I really like as well, nice stick definition.

hey, love the video! quick question regarding your comment on the finish, you said you have to take really good care for the drums because of the nitro-cellulose lacquer, but why is that? and what type of care, what do you have to do? Is it just that it gets damaged more easily? Asking this mainly out of pure curiosity, because I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a Gretsch Custom kit, lol

For one, with a high-gloss finish like this, you'd just want to be careful not to scuff or scratch it as it'll be more noticeable (especially with such a deep color like this one!) Also, you'd have to be careful to keep it in a fairly stable temperature and humidity otherwise the wood will expand/contract (which puts stress on the lacquer and leads to cracking).
