It is exceptionally rare that filmmakers pay any attention to the loss of biodiversity. Here Sigourney Weaver, playing Dian Fossey, saves a gorilla and confronts an animal trader. Gorillas in the Mist focuses on the extinction of a species (mountain gorillas).

This was the most powerful film in her storied career. Her heroism and conviction were oscar worthy.

This film always has me in tears, and the fact it's based on a true story makes it even worse. I don't think I'd be held of responsible for my actions if I saw someone do this to innocent animals

Diane Fossey was becoming a thorn in the shoes of a lot of hidden powers in Rwanda. And someone obviously wanted her out of the way.

@@acpicks I don’t know if I can convince you, but I want you to know, that I have worked for several zoos and aquariums in my life, and I know for a fact that zoo keepers (at least in the Western World) love and care for their animals so very much. We zoo keepers do everything in our power to keep our animals happy, and we try very hard to promote conservation so that one day, there won’t be a need for zoos to protect these animals.

@@colbyjones7816 I can easily believe that zoo keepers love non-human animals. However, it is awful that humans lock up other animals for their viewing pleasure instead of protecting their natural habitats.

She rescued him and took care of him as a baby and became attached, but she had no choice later but to send him to the zoo. I don't remember why, I haven't seen this movie in forever, but I remember him screaming and reaching for her as he was nailed in a cage later and taken away. It's really really sad.
