Murdoc was pretty cool in this concert! I mean his playing was awsome, he jumped out of hell, turned his head full 360, and best of all, hes fully clothed!!

I love watching the band members during the rap verses. Noodle and Murdoc are getting into it; Noodle's jumping up and down and headbanging, and Murdoc's.....well, being Murdoc. Even Russell's nodding his head to the beat. But 2d? He's just standing there, like he's bored out of his mind
Its too bad they dont do visuals like this anymore. I mean its such a staple thing and seeing real people perform just doesnt feed the fantasy if you know what i mean
the tech wasnt there for the time but it totally is now. they could absolutely pull it off but i get why they havent. gorillaz isnt nearly as popular or high budget as they used to be and creating a full shows worth of unique animation would be extremely expensive and time consuming. not to mention that every show would be basically the same. they could maybe do motion capture and theyve been experimenting with digital puppetry but i think that stuffs pretty far off too
The reason they don’t do this anymore is cause Albarn got complaints that these shows didn’t feel “live”, that they felt like it was just like watching a pre-recorded music video. Also, this was during a time where Albarn was testing to see if his music would be successful without people associating his songs with his face

Noodle in this represents chaotic good energy. Her headbanging represents the fact that the animators were definitely on some sort of drug, maybe even drunk.

gearsofwar44 actually no, because Del cant assist to all concerts they invite some other rappers to do Del's part, but obvioulsy with their own version, they also do this with feel good inc, they had invited rappers like snoop dogg do the rapping
MR. PETAHVR12 actually he is right, Phi life was gonna do the original but couldn't (reason escapes me now, think he was on tour at time) but ended up on the version on G-Sides with just the rap instead
I do like the fact they have different rappers putting their own flavour to the track when Del cant be there, but I cant stress how disappointing this was back when this originally aired on TV. I dont mind it now, but at the time everyone was like "what the fuck is this?!" They needed to get Del to do this first live version. Especially at the Brits. It took like 14 years or something for them to finally get Del in a live show for this.
