And the Fall is the most underrated album (without a doubt). Its actually a pretty good album, even tho some songs are weird, some of them are amazing

It's the most underrated for sure.

I didn't notice at first, and I'm still wondering why. When it hit me, I was amazed. Then after listening again and again, I've started to feel like it's actually not only at the beginning, but the whale is here during the whole song, accompanying the musicians, like whales who peacefully approach boats, filled with curiosity, for a deep, strong and ephemeral moment. But this one is not really peaceful, certainly not curious. She is quiet, but she shows some aggressivity. She knows to contain her anger. She's here simply to tell us, humans , "See. See what you did.", and shares our defaitism. She's way above us. Also, it's fascinating how music can be sometimes so overwhelming. And no, I don't even do drugs.

It's basically, a sarcastic statement about it being fine that we've fucked the planet by wasting resorces and polluting.

ik this was from so long ago, but this song had such a heartbreaking message that anyone would be angry and intense singing it, its not like this was empire ants or smth

to be fair, this is a pretty obscure song. So most of them weren't familiar with the lyrics. They didn't do too bad considering.

Even if you don't know the lyrics this song still bangs pretty hard, the audience should be going as hard as the song does

Roland Mick they were scheduled last minute and most attendees probably weren’t massive Gorillaz fans. But yea it always breaks my heart to see this performance.

Kinda upsets me that everyone knows Clint East Wood and Feel Good Inc, but you can tell these people reaaally aren't big fans of Gorillaz,, or at least Plastic Beach (considering most people probably stopped paying attention after Demon Days?)

Christopher Rapczynski Just watch at about 3:15, you can literally see Damon getting upset over the fact that people in the crowd don't want to sing. Also, judging by the size of the crowd it looks like a music festival, it seemed like they were opening for some other band or artist. All I was trying to say in the original post was, IF I had been there, I would've been screaming my head off. No disrespect to the people there, just me putting in my two cents.

Zero Calibur It's funny you say that, they were filling in for u2, so yeah, the fact they could sing along at all is good, but if you see he adds in an extra verse and actually goes "ubadbahuba" to try to stop the band from continuing to the next part so he could add in the part where he sings with the audience. Had they been properly prepared and knew he was gonna sing with the crowd, I'm sure they would have gotten some special recording equipment and made their audio a lot more coherent.

i mean... gorillaz replaced U2 last minute... the audience aren’t gorillaz fans and likely had never heard of a lot of plastic beach’s songs. think they did quite well considering

It a festival with loads of bands playing… The most enjoyable music is played by African guys on the jazz stage at one in afternoon, no one knows the lyrics or even the name of the group..why should people have to sing along with the west London elite as they virtue signal with their big tellys? People should be shouting ‘fuck your’.

de verdad que si, veo muchos conciertos de diferentes generos de musica y en general el publico frio, sin cantar ni nada luego van a paises hispanohablantes y la gente entregada, cantando, bailando, saltando y se nota en los grupos que esto les gusta, pero oye...que parece que nos tienen alergia o algo...

La verdad sí, a veces que veo los conciertos de Gorillaz y veo a la gente como esa así apagada hasta me provoca rabia, una canción tan hermosa y de hacer verdadera conciencia como Pirate Jet debería ser coreada con muchas voces al unisono, no nomás el pinche Clint Eastwood que al parecer es la única canción que se saben al derecho y al revés, Plastic Beach es una obra de arte que tiene canciones sumamente deleitables, si yo hubiera estado ahí sí la cantaba a todo pulmón, sin duda Pirate Jet es una canción demasiado infravalorada, una verdadera lastima...

Well, there is a Pirate Jets on Plastic Beach, but this live performance is very different, because it's twice as long with new sections. So, it's a pretty different version that would be nice to have a studio-recorded version of. That's just my wishful thinking, though.

There is a (well made) fan-made album called "Sea Sides" which, which acts as Plastic Beach's G/D- side album. It has a Alternative extended version of Pirate Jet.

taveon timmons is right, but that's exactly why it's NOT a metaphor. It's a song about us, people, wasting earth's resources and polluting the planet, and hurting the animals. And it's very staight-forward about it.
