I knew an owner of a mechanic shop that asked me one day after getting an oil change what I was going to do afterward. His statement was "going to get a drink after this?" He was teasing, sort of, maybe, I do not know; it was 8 in the morning, my brain was still catching up with me despite being awake for 4 hours. She was the main character. I saw interviews of people who made the show saying it. Idk about the books though. Did I say that I hated her ? Because, I don't. she was super charming and sweet and I liked all the childhood friends : Blair, Chuck, Serena and Nate because of the complicity and the family feeling they gave off. I do think Chuck and Blair had more layers than her and Nate though which is why they are the show for me. @Sophia Fayrweather

I liked Serena up until season three. Up until then, her character was presenting someone who was trying to grow and not fall back into her old bad habits of dating terrible people, betraying friends and breaking away from her spoiled attitude, but then her character just got thrown around in the same plotlines with new and random love interests that we’d never hear from again like halfway before the season endings, and if she wasn’t given random love interests then they’d have her settle down either Dan or Nate, only to stir that shit up out of nowhere! TL;DR: Serena’s character got repetitive and boring because she was given repeated plotlines and love interests (new and old) every season, and gave up on her character development once season three came around.

No Love I don't know to me the whole cast looked pretty damn perfect particularly Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. They're just flawlessly beautiful. Sure Serena's hair was messy but it looked really good like that.

The directors said they wanted to make serenas hair look like that: messy, undone and like she doesnt care about it to much. and i think it really fits to her charakter

but... all characters, no matter their gender always have at least the "no make up" make up... in all shows. Some do it better, some worse (there was quite a long time Dean in Supernatural had unnaturally pink lips).

That's because in the 2000s the messy 'bed-head' look was fashionable and there's a difference between deliberately messy and actually messy. Also Serena is definitely wearing foundation, it's just that it's very matte and by the looks of it she wears bronzer too rather than any dramatic contouring, as is popular in recent years. She also wears lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow and heavy mascara, so she's not as natural as you're suggesting. I don't think it's a matter of what shows allowed, but an aspect of an era of fashion. I must admit that as a British viewer it's always suprising to me how model-like Americans look in your average drama these days compared to British dramas though. But I still think it depends on what you're watching really..

Cinnamon I'm going through a similar experience now. I'm not from a small town but no one incredibly rich and famous, but now I go to a top high school in NYC and it's just so weird. I have 4 kids in my class who are heirs to billion dollar companies and three kids in my class have really famous parents. I'm friends with kids like this, and it's just so awkward because they have known each other since they were five and go to all these cool events and do all these cool trips and stuff and I'm here like yea I'm studying for our test on Tuesday

Right? Like my family had enough to take vacations, but not like they fucking took vacations. I never ordered $500 champagne at lunch just because. It seemed like in my case, a lot of the students wanted to go there to get *away* from their crazy, overbearing, rich (and sometimes famous) parents, but I went in *spite* of leaving my family (I was really lucky to have totally awesome parents). One of my friends moms would literally say "Stanford Harvard Princeton Yale," then turn off the light and go to bed. Every night. Not "I love you, good night" but "Stanford Harvard Princeton Yale." It's just crazy to hear about, and so heartbreaking. Now that I think about it, I totally did have a Dan experience because I was accidentally invited to a birthday party freshman year. Her dad is a famous TV chef and was super cool, he actually remembered by name two years later when he visited campus! It was sort of a mellow pool party. But there were a lot of REALLY insane parties I wasn't invited to. My school was HUGE on academics, everyone takes that shit really seriously, and there's this air of... 'I'm brilliant and get all A's but I don't have to work all that hard.' Which sucked because I wasn't brilliant and didn't get all A's and I did work pretty hard. And compared to everyone else... I just felt really poor. One time, at a dorm meeting, I looked around the room and counted: 22/30 of the girls in my class had Ugg boots on! I felt like I HAD to get Ugg boots. But they wore their boots to the barns (it was an equestrian school), and I treasured mine because they cost so much. Sorry for rambling!! I have a million crazy stories. My friend almost dropped a waffle on Tom Hanks' one time, I don't remember what he said, but she laughed so hard she actually did drop the waffle (but not on him).

Ashley Chong it's very hectic and stressful, being surrounded by all these people born into money and having teachers give you As on an essay and tell you after class that it sucked. The parents are the worst out if everyone though. They but their children literally whatever they could dream of having, even places in like selected roles for the top students. Competing with that is not possible. Then the weekend comes around and all that pressure about the four tests on Monday are forgotten so they can go on weekend vacations Torrance or Switzerland, or maybe staying home and doing whatever you want with hundreds of thousands of dollars. Think about your stereotypical teen drama movie high school party and add giant house with 5 times as many guest all in clothes that cost more than a house that they just casually throw on the ground and get wrinkled. Take the gossip girl parties and scale then down a little bit like only have about 60% of it, still very insane. Other than that my life is pretty boring
