Aside from the incestuous nature of Dan and Serena liking each other, the reason I hate them together is because Serena literally FORCES her mother to give up on Dan's father so she can be with Dan. It was a nasty manipulative scene (season 1) and it made me hate the Derena ship. Also, Dan NEVER valued Serena as a person. He also spoke to her like he was better than her. Him being Gossip Girl meant he STALKED her for years.
The fact he’ll never know that Dorota’s ringtone for Eleanor is “Slave 4 U” or that Dan and Serena dated eachother while their parents were also dating AND they share a sibling who hooked up with Dan’s bestie Vanessa, who also dated Dan, and then proceeded to hook up/date Nate. Who hooked up with Serena while dating her best friend Blair only to officially date her after Serena and Dan broke up for the millionth time.
The fact that he thought of the name SABRINA as soon as he saw Serena just indicates that Dan's book really had the most appropriate names for all characters.
I love how Dylan felt that siblings dating another set of siblings is sticky when serena and Dan married each other knowing they shared an actual sibling
Actually the best thing about this show was a unique indie soundtrack. They showed a LOT OF really great bands at that time when nobody has ever heard about them. Of course, they used some popular music at that time, but mostly it was a dAMn good indie!
I started watching GG after it was over and with the knowledge that Dan was the GG. So everytime GG posted sth detrimental and Dan acted so coy, I was baffled. If you watch it with the knowledge of who he is and how he reacts to each circumstance Dan is a sociopath. It’s scary how good of a charade he put up while hurting everyone he CLAIMS to love.

everyone dislikes chuck until season 2. his character development is crazy! the only reason i kept watching was because of him and blair. the ending was so bad even the actors disagreed.

The girl that played Jenny, Taylor Momsen, quit the show I believe in season 3 so she could focus on her musical career in her rock band The Pretty Reckless. She is a great musician and song writer and it's one of the sweetest people ever. She was also Cindy Lou Who
I love her band but I must say, I would have loved to see her character evolve and become a designer without the upper east siders pressure on her when she was away
I'm exactly the same way. Chuck and Blair was the only ship I cared about in the end. I was rooting for them so hard. And in the end Chuck became one of my favorite characters.
In hysterics over the commentary about Eric and Jenny + the idea that Serena left town because she can't let her mother know that she's a lesbian. It's funny enough in itself when you already know what happens in the show, but the fact that watching only these two episodes provides zero insight into the kind of relationship Eric and Jenny have or the development Eric gets makes it even funnier.
Actually Dan was exposed already as a GG in s1e1, that one scene when you hear GG's voiceover for the first time ever and it moves on to the footage of Dan typing on the laptop and then shutting it down 😱

Im really glad that the Nate actor got a redemption by playing the Deep in the Boys. He seems like he's so boring in this but in the Boys he's insane and funny and really interesting
the fact he didnt have to sit through seasons 1-6 makes me kinda sad, so much bullshit happens. its my favourite show, its so stupid and poorly written, but its addicting. also upset he'll never have to sit through rebel jenny, i would love to see that reaction😂

Funnily enough, Gossip Girl introduced me to more music than any other TV show. I don't remember how often they used super well know songs like you pointed out, but their soundtrack was actually so good, and very heavy on the indie/unknown stuff.
I watched gossip girl every night from 9pm to 5 am in 2020 quarantine as a 11 year old with my older sister and we finished it in less than a month. I SWEAR my 11 year old mouth literally dropped to the floor when Dan was revealed as gossip girl

the fact that Serena DID have "Sabrina" as her name in Dan's first book as went by that same name when Serena wanted to have a fresh start and met his temporary boyfriend Steven and there was a family whose last name was "Sharp" who there was Juliet and Ben Sharp, which Ben dated Serena at one point lmao
Ben was Donovan not Sharp. That's why no one was able to tied Juliet yo Ben. It's not until Blair, Dan & Damien visits Juliet's mom & Juliet confessed to Serena that the two are tied together.

It would’ve been so much better if Dylan watched first and last episode of each season. This way he would get more insight about the new characters but still miss the seasons in between as well.

@@TP111111 in season 2 when Blair was dating that guy from England, and he was actually sleeping with Catherine the duchess who was also sleeping with Nate. If both relationships were successful, Nate would be her stepdad. And in season 6 when Nate was dating that girl in high school and Serena was dating her dad Stephen, if both relationships were successful, Serena would've been Nate's mother in law.
Hey! Literally more than half of the people who watched gossip girl hate Dan and love Chuck and Nate. I literally never understood why anyone would not like Dan. He was my favourite and literally only one who was a bit normal and original self. When you made positive remarks about Dan I was like OMG! Finally someone who likes Dan and not Chuck and Nate.
He is just so exhausting in the beginning. He puts Serena on a pedestal and whenever she does *anything* he doesn't like he's like "Serena, I didn't think you were like that 😔" He is so much like Ross from Friends in that regard. Has an idea about the type of woman he wants and becomes upset when the women with him diverge from that by being real and having issues. He pretends to be a good guy but is really demanding. Chuck is just an ass from the get go and gets softer when he's around Blair. Still not great but at least you know what you're getting.

I got 8 minutes through this video months ago, stopped watching because I didn't want to be spoiled, watched Gossip Girl in its entirety over the course of a couple months, forgot about the video, and am now finishing the video after it was recommended to me
You better watch the whole series, it’s worth it. Even though last season was a mess, and Dan’s father not ending up with Serena’s mother is not what should have happened. And Dan as Gossip Girl is so obvious when you find out and yet so mysterious, and the right person to be at that place!
i hated that plot lol, it just got too crazy after the 4th season for me, the mom thing was already a rollercoaster (in a bad way) but i still don't understand why they brought his father back
Loved this! The funniest part is that as someone who watched both the OC and Gossip Girl during their original run, GG at his worst was still miles better than the OC, the soundtrack included!

Dude this is crazy! I am obsessed with Gossip Girl right now and I only watched it because of this video! I knew about G.G.back in the day. The problem is it came on around the time of Pretty Little Liars and I just couldn't watch both. I kind of forgot about G.G. However since watching this video I have not been able to get Gossip Girl out of my head. I just watched season 1 it is SO AWESOME! I know it's a fan favorite and I totally agree! It's strengths are the same things that FRIENDS had. A hit show that doesn't know it's gonna be a hit yet! The drama is great, the acting, the costumes and the filming!! I am so psyched this came back into my life! Thank you Dylan!! Do more First and Last Please I need more RECS!!!! =)
Dan was the only character who didn't develop personally troughout the series, he still held a grudge agaisnt his friends because he didn't "fit in" when they were in high school
Him hating on the devil Chuck Bass was the most satisfying thing to watch. He pretty much summed up my feelings while I was watching GG. Same Dylan same even I wanted to punch chuck so bad
He missed Blair becoming a princess of France or whatever it was, Jenny becoming a fashion designer, the whole Georgina thing... oh what he doesn’t know.
Dylan would enjoy watching this show so so much even if he watched the Finale. I saw the finale with my sister when she was watching it but I had to watch the whole show later on my own. Everything about this show is just amazing.
