Take yor point about strap button on soprano, and concert uke, i don't use a strap but of the dozen or so uke players at our club everyone uses a strap , its a puzzle! .i bought a longneck noah 2017 love it.
Noah seem to be some of the best ukuleles out there in the price range, at least in the UK. I love my longneck soprano from them - it’s incredibly comfortable to play. Very good stuff and thanks for the review. I’m oddly thrilled to hear you pronounce the bridge wood as well (I’m not even going to attempt to type it). Very tempting.
I really like the looks of this soprano. I like the friction pegs on it as well. I actually like strap buttons but I think it is just a habit more than a necessity. I like the sound as well . This is a nice little ukulele. Thanks for another interesting review….DOC
I absolutely love it! Looks great and (to my ears at least) sounds really mature for a soprano, with lots of depth. Price was a big surprise too. What's not to like? Thanks Baz, really enjoyed this one. Stay safe mate! 👍
It is a very nice videoo. I just bought an ukulele because of you hahah. I just wondered could you tell me which songs are you playing in sound samples part. I just know "Something" but I do not know the others . Again thank you so muchh. Love from Bosniaa
Regarding the strap button, I asked about it and was told that yes, all of this model do have a button fitted as standard. The problem is apparently that so many people want one that fitting them as an option would take up too much time for such a small company, which is understandable. A pity, but understandable.
It’s lovely, isn’t it? I play with a strap so I don’t have to worry about it. I think that’s another personal choice. It is very pretty and sounds great.
I added a strap button to my gigging soprano uke. Makes life much easier. I also like a uke in D6 tuning, but it's a question of getting the right strings on the right uke. Some D'addario nylons that specifically referred to D6 tuning sounded terrible on my Koalition pineapple at D6. Some Living Waters, identical to a set that wouldn't reach D6 on another soprano, tuned very happily to D6 and sound great.
No issue if you want to use a strap. Just think they should be an option (easily done when ordering) as people who don't may not want a hole in the base. on the D tuning - yes - common issue with Bruko sopranos - their pyramid strings are actually designed for the higher tuning (as D tuning is more popular in Germany). In C they can feel flabby
I found that with the strings on my mainland soprano just loose on GCEA. I started by tuning it up a full step. Which did me for a while then I put uke logic hard tension on problem solved
Great ukes I bought the pineapple soprano with spruce top mahogany back and sides I changed the strings from which I think we're Aquila to aNueNue Clearwater fluorocarbon strings it now sounds even better well it does to my ears I'm sure the neighbour might disagree 😂 mine came with the side dots and the gloss finish and I love it Great service it arrived on time as promised and I'm now saving the pennies for one of his super tenors which I'm hoping to rig out with a low g to try for a deep sound I hope it will work , anyway rambling on great video and review Thanks for putting it together beer on its way to you 🍺👍🎵🎶🎼 John
Great instrument and review. I have to disagree about friction tuners. They are on my Flea and Fluke and i can’t stand them, only bad thing about Fleas/Flukes 😂
It's a wood that suits ukulele sizes very well. Sure, not attractive to look at, but the balance in tone is something else. Martin Sopranos that really kick started where we are were largely mahogany
@@GotAUkulele My comment managed to ignore that my favourite uke (that I own) is the Uma pineapple you reviewed a little while ago (sure it's gloss and black stained but it is mahogany 🤣) Thank you for another great review. I just had a run-in with an uninspiring (and cheap) mahogany uke as my first instrument. It takes time to correct these misconceptions!
I think that way too many Ukers are spoiled to fancy looking woods, whorls, stripes, flames, spalted, etc. they don’t make a ukulele sound a bit better. I love the tone of mahogany more than any other timber. There’s a reason that Martin uses mahogany only.
@@nickiemcnichols5397 Thanks for taking the time to suggest a fix. I did take them apart and clean them. It helped some but I suspect they are the originals, and the Ukulele is from (best as we can tell) the 1940s. It has been in the family for several generations. I looked at putting on new tuners but it would require reworking the head stock and I am a bit shy of doing that on a vintage instrument like this one. If I could find new friction tuners that fit in the original holes that's the way I would go. But we have checked with a couple of different shops here and, apparently, all the new styles are a bigger diameter. I tuned it down to F A# D G which some research suggested was likely the standard tuning in the 40s, and that helped some as well. It also sounds really cool...when it is in tune.
Yep - the older pegs will, ultimately, stop gripping over time. Tough decision to make to modify the instrument then to put something else on. Very glad you didn't butcher it actually!
@@GotAUkulele It is such a cute little thing and, when it is in tune, sounds good for something that small. It is kind of amazing. I have a few others to chose from so the little Martin will be safe and hold its place on my wall.
Wow, this is nice. I think it’s too cheap. He’s gonna tear up the soprano ukulele market with this. I’d pay twice that amount…… Oh, and I’d play it with a strap. I can’t tolerate my instrument trying to get away.
He's actually been around with sopranos for nearly 10 years now - that 2017 one is very close to this in quality of sound. I think this improves on it in playability and design. Really nice brand.
