Little one comes running into the room at 2am this morning because the playlist we play every night (Disney Peaceful Piano on Loop Mode) has now shuffled onto playing some big band 50's style music and shocked her into waking up. It wouldn't let me skip the songs it was playing more than 6 times within an hour. So if you don't like the music, then you're stuck. I hate this update and it is a cynical move by Amazon to get you to buy into their next tier. I'm dusting off the ipod as we speak.....

Thanks for the video. Didn't realise things had changed. I asked my Amazon Echo to play Desire by Dylan and it said I had to be subscribed to Unlimited, but then played Hurrican off the album. When I said skip it played Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits and then when I said skip again it played Wish you were Here by Pink Floyd. My head is spinning. Back to the turntable.

I would prefer it if Amazon gave the choice for each Prime subscriber to choose between how it was before they changed it OR 100 million songs in shuffle mode.

A step backward for me. I want to listen to an album the way the artist intended

Spotify share holders will be loving this news as Spotify are likely to gain subscriptions from users who want to hear the songs they are for.

You also can’t download music anymore for off-line listening.

I found it will play me a complete album, but as well as shuffled, it will also have all the tracks shuffled in with albums of a similar type. So not just the tracks in an album. It stinks.

This is ridiculous. It’s as if, I went to watch Star Wars and instead they put on Star Trek the motion picture! This has to be taken back!!!🤬

It is a lie to call this an upgrade. It's just a money grab by Amazon. I liked to use Echo to listen to albums that were in the 2 million. Now you can't. You can't listen to an album out of order, it will throw in a bunch of other artists. And if you ask for artist, in addition, it will always start the sequence from the same song. For example, ask for Aimee Mann and it will play Aimee Mann - Burn it out, Aimee Mann - You Do, Aimee Mann - Stuck in the past, Aimee Mann - You never loved me, Aimee Mann - Home by now, Aimee Mann - Knock It Off. Shawn Colvin - Get out this house. Those titles seem appropriate, especially the one by Shawn Colin (Get out of this house, Prime will be gone from my house when my prime expires. At least 50% of the songs are always not the artist you asked for (and a higher percentage when you ask for an album). And you only get 6 skips per hour. And to top it off, if you pause for more than about two hours you can't resume from where you were, it starts the same list from the start. And Amazon Prime is not free. The echo (and Google Home) have become much less useful since they were released. My favorite music service was the old Google Play Music, but they screwed that up with youtube music. Cancelling Prime, I don't buy enough to make it worth it any more.

I have amazon prime. That's the main reason I started using amazon music instead of free spotify account. Even tho you can't have full catalogue but you can choose songs you want to listen to. For me it still shows amazon unlimited on some songs. (Maybe I need to update the app) :D Amazing videos!!!! Love it!!!

That's so cool. I've had fire TV sticks, cube, box, for years as well as Prime. But recently got into the Alexa and echo dots mostly for music, I like it and my wife LOVES it, so much that we started their 3 months trial. I have been using Prime Music for several years now and have had to delete it. I was able to download tracks to my old iPhone that I kept in the car to stream via Bluetooth while in offline mode. Now I can't unless I subscribe to unlimited. This used to be an amazing service with Prime, granted I couldn't get every song I wanted, there was still enough out there to give me lots of options. Bummed out that I can't have the variety of music in the car that I had before without needing to stream. Hopefully with all the complaints Amazon in getting now they will make some changes.

I've spent years building my music playlist on my Amazon prime. These playlist are now useless as I can only play them in shuffle mode. It's clearly a way to force people to pay 8.99 a month if you want to listen to the playlist you've built or select a song from those playlist. It's a very shady way to force people already paying for prime to pay even more. The cost of prime in the last two years went from 99.00 to 120.00 and now it will cost 139.00. And now they are pulling this BS with prime music.

Going by all the one star ⭐️ reviews I would say most prime members would rather have 2 million songs that they can choose skip as many times as they like not a few times an hour

When the song I want comes up, I add it to my personal playlist, not ideal but am happy with it.

I hate it & the app has become completely useless to me now. I’m also reconsidering my prime membership since the cost of music is factored in & I’ll essentially still be paying for it even if I don’t use it.

Oh this is so helpful!! I've been wondering what the hell was going on! A double edged sword I think. I can't listen to my music any more. I was just saying to my son this morning that maybe it's time we swap over to Spotify... I can deal with ads if it means I can actually listen to the songs I'm asking for.

I stopped my Amazon prime account this morning. It was the only reason that I had Amazon prime was for the music app. I'm already paying for Amazon prime and it was supposed to be part of the package when I signed up. This is why I own over 1000 CDs, I have 292 GB of music that I own and can curate anyway I feel I don't need Amazon prime. Unfortunately most people have bought end of the digital download bs I think it's on the chair on my mistake of my Amazon and if I were you, I would not be talking. This is some kind of a wonderful something that amazon gave us. They ruined the music collections of millions of people that used to use that app that will now be dumping Amazon watch their stock plummet.

This change sucks. I play different playlist during different parts of my day with my daycare children. Now I cannot play my clean up songs at the end of our play period. :( I guess I'll have to pull out, and make my own mixed tape/burned CD! lol

The phase "shuffling songs by (insert your artist here) and SIMILAR ARTISTS" is now my most hated saying by that dam Alexa. If I wanted similar artists I would ask to listen to the them.

I used to download music to listen to whilst driving as an aid to relieving my tinnitus and it needs to be of a soothing kind, shuffling throws all sorts of music into the mix which is no good for me. You can not download music unless you have music unlimited. IT A PAIN!

I asked alexa to play a song and she played it , and I've the standard version, you can skip(limited) , won't play full albums or any you ask for use the app , it's better but lots of songs that were on it free are now needing a membership

I have been paying for this service and didn't even know it till today.

Songs I purchased can't be played directly. They are supposed to be in my library and played when I want not some shuffle nonsense.

All my playlists are now irrelevant 😡 and I bought an echo dot so that I could ask for a specific song to play … which now plays nothing like what I ask for. Think I might be cancelling Prime now 😢

This change is a big failure. It's not about the cost of unlimited. We are fortunate enough that isn't a concern. On principle, now I would never upgrade to Unlimited. Have used Amazon Music for years and am even able to use it with my Garmin running watches. This change ruins it. I have no desire waisting my time listening and shuffling through songs I don't like. Had intended to upgrade and extend our current Amazon platform home automation. So angry, we will dump all the Amazon devices and replace with another provider.

No thanks. I enjoyed the free limited prime music, but this, on top of constantly removing songs, was so frustrating. Deleted the app and went to Spotify subscription (which is also cheaper than Amazon)

I can't get it to play any songs I want. It's shuffle mode so it's basically become a radio.

This update sucks. I was perfectly fine with the 2mil songs and the ability to IDK DOWNLOAD MUSIC! Not only that they even went lower than that and even made you have to shuffle it with 6 skips an HOUR!. WOOHOO 🎉 100 million songs that I don't want to listen to at the cost of basically the only reason to use Amazon music. Good job Amazon. Not only that I just realized that they don't even just play things just in your album or playlist it will randomly pick stuff similar to the songs you pick. I'm honestly amazed at how bad this is and to think I was gonna actually buy unlimited before the update because I actually just enjoyed the platform crazy right it's almost like it was perfectly fine the way it was because unlimited was still worth it it was a pretty good upgrade from prime not only for sound quality but for the amount of songs to.

It's fine for general playlists. I work from home so have music on in the background, and some days I like to just play a long playlist so I don't need to keep choosing - I wouldn't care about what order they are in anyway. For albums though... hideous! You can skip so it's no bother for listening to a specific track, but if you want to listen to an album, it should be how the artist released it.

The shuffle only mode is a pile of garbage. You ask for music by Willie Nelson and it plays Julio Iglesias. Playing an album is not possible, no matter what you ask for you get random music by random artists which may have some similarity to what you asked for if you're lucky.

But it affects the playlist I have made. For example, I have a sleep playlist for my childcare to steam when napping. Now they're all messed up. There is a certain song for my age level I have a playlist. and now they are all shuffled up So no I am not excited about this change.

The lack of offline mode is huge for me. I almost exclusively listened to downloaded music on Amazon. I will now be deleting the app. I'd much rather the full functionality with a smaller library than this bull shit.

Unlimited can be free for 3 months but it depends on how you apply. Tried 3 ways...1 said not available to me. Another said 1 month but another gave me 3 months. Sorry can't remember which option gave me 3mths. 1 through Amazon app, one through chrome browser and another through email opening on Google but not Chrome at least I think that's how...just try various ways until you get the 3 months.

Interesting, thanks for the video. I have Prime but have never used the Music part of it as a lot of stuff I asked it to play was not available on the "free" service, so went to Spotify instead. I'll give Prime another try :)

I'm only using Prime for one-day shipping. For music I'm old school I'm using Bandcamp for buying mp3 that I actually own and piracy

I preferred old version , very shady of Amazon to do this at least give you a choice on which service you want .

Had the Amazon music plan so my entire family could use the app. For the last couple of years we've been happy. Problem is, we aren't the type of family that changes our phones up every single year. My wife and daughter are still rockin' the Galaxy S9's and I'm using an S20 and plan on doing so for at least the next two or three years. In other words, we keep our phones. Recently my daughter and I have been having MAJOR loading time issues, we're talking 5 minute of nothing, then when you're almost at your destination, suddenly it turns on. Just 5 minutes ago, my amazon app suddenly started playing music from my phone which was sitting in the kitchen with NO ONE around. A couple times Ive had to restart my phone because it locked it up. What's happening is Amazon isn't allocating resources to the app to optimize older phones and so it's become worthless. When I say I want music right now, it means I want music RIGHT NOW. Not when Amazon gets around to it. That's what Ive had up till a couple of months ago, and that's what I expected now. Well, up until about 5 minutes ago when I cancelled it. Looks like spotify will get a shot.

You can skip songs but every two skips there's a twenty second Amazon commercial promoting Amazon Music Unlimited.. 'ain't nothin' free in this world Buddy Boy! 😉

Amazon have ruined it to get you to pay for unlimited. I pay for Prime and Kindle Unlimited already, How much money do they think I've got

So basically if you use Amazon music YOU WILL LISTEN TO AMAZONS PREFERED PLAYLIST and NOT YOUR OWN, that's taking the piss. So basically music companies will pay Amazon to push certain tracks on you.

Don't like it one bit, just seems to play random tracks, so I've setup my Spotify account to be the default music source for my Echo dot via the Alexa app. Everything is a-okay now.

Tried this and it won’t play the whole album it mixes different artists in with the one you wanted to listen too. I will continue to use Spotify free as it still works better

they should've kept the On Demand songs as they were... but, then simply included the other songs in shuffle mode.

So let me get this right. If you have Amazon Prime, I think 🤔 i paid £80 (before the price hike), you can listen to Amazon music 🎶 at no extra cost. Eg "Alexa play Bee Gees greatest hits". This is 💯 🆓 and no extra cost. But you cannot ask Alexa play "Night Fever 🕺 💃" by the Bee Gees? Can you recreate a playlist of the tracks you like and get Alexa to play just that list at no extra cost if you have Prime ? Are commercials excluded from the playlist?

I hate it I had Playlist that I was happy with, now not only do they shuffle it they add like music to my Playlist

I deleted the app, if I wanted Spotify free I would use it. I can’t play any of my playlists without songs I would never listen too being pushed into my ears

Is it just me or did this video seem very dark - lighting wise not content 😀 Skip wise, you can only skip a certain number of times an hour (I think it's six but I could be wrong). If you want a specific song, perhaps you can ask Alexa for it and see what you get - if you don't get the song you want, instead of skipping, you can ask Alexa to "cancel" and then try your request again. A bit of a palava, but you get what you pay for I suppose - and no doubt Amazon hope this will encourage people to sign up to its paid music service

What I find annoying is that one is lead to belileve that Amazon Prime Music means no adverts (with that HORRIBLE American accent...especially women with their 'voice fry' style) but you can not chose specific songs or specific non-song music. Alexa always cuts in and says specific songs are not available unless you buy Amazon Unlimited. So, they push you for paying for the Amazon Unlimited. I do not know how it is in other countries, but I am in Spain and can not get Amazon Prime Music to function as it claims. And yes, I signed up to Amazon >Music Prime via the mobile app.

If already a Prime member, Can't really beat this service. No additional cost for 100 million songs, 320kbps streaming bitrate. Unfortunately, if you try playing a full Album, you'll only get 3 or 4 songs then it will play same genre from other artists. But beggars should not be choosy.

This new "upgrade" is absolute trash, that literally every Amazon Prime music user hates with a passion (See hundreds of Facebook comments on Amazon's post about it - not a single positive comment)! You can never play the track you want to play anymore. You only get six skips per hour, and Amazon even inserts random tracks from unrelatied artists into the shuffled album. Commentators like you need to understand how terrible it is, and actually try using it...then you'll realise it's completely unusable....people can't even play the tracks they've previously purchased!

Just saw a one legged man at an ATM. He was swaying back and forth with no cane or anything. I asked him if he was ok. He said he was fine, he was just checking his balance.

It might suit some people but I think it's aimed at people who want to play specific tracks but aren't able to do so so will have to subscribe to unlimited & people will.

I could not get an album to play at all. When selecting it plays similar music from different artists from different albums. Absolutely useless.

A new song is trending I hear ...it's called the "Amazon Hustle" .. All prime members are included on its playlist apparently...even though they never bleeding well asked for it !! Just don't ask Alexa to play it though, unless your keen to get 'shuffled around' that is ! Unsubscribe folks ! Sadly the only language Mr Bezos' Amazon understands is £$€ 😠!
