poker face was the song that made gaga blow up big. gaga came in the industry like an alien from outer space and completely changed pop music and the way women in pop presented themselves in the industry. respected by icons and legends. she will forever be the 🐐
@@warwickhunt modern one, Madonna changing the industry on 80's. No one in our generation has changed the industry like Gaga does, unique, talented (like super duper duper talented) etc
Poker Face is my most favourite Lady Gaga song, but that said, she had only a few other good songs and everything else she did since the earliest days of her career when she was in her prime has been mediocre. In that respect, she's like Rihanna. Both started out good but became mediocre over time, in my opinion.
During that period of time, Lady Gaga was HUGE... like really, really HUGE in Europe, too. Her first two albums were massive. Lots of really good songs. People were constantly wanting to see what she was going to wear next. I *really* like the version of Paparazzi she did at the MTV awards (the performance). Telephone, with Beyonce, is an amazing song and video (have to watch the official video on that one).
Lived in England when this became big. Every club must've had a rule that they had to play this, 'Just Dance,' and Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl' multiple times a night, and throw in a alternate versions of those songs. Edit: 'Bad Romance' was pretty damn big, too.
Lady Gaga is a real artist, actor, fashion icon, producer, dancer, writer, she can do actually everything. I think you should react to Shallow ft Bradley Cooper from A Star Is Born. You'll see how different she is. I also recommend you her smash hits Born This Way, Applause, Telephone, The Edge Of Glory, etc. She has so many hit songs, so I can't name all of them, but these are really big.
Lady Gaga is so much fun. She got a lot of flack when she came out for her crazy looks but honestly, I loved it. Girl wants to transform, let the girl transform! She doesn't do it anymore and she got flack for that too. Public be crazy. Entertainers entertain, enjoy the music and enjoy the ride :-)
She had a real hard time breaking out when she started. I read that a producer literally told she wasn't beautiful enough. So I think she brought out the crazy costumes as a way to get attention, and it worked very well. Now she's famous, so I guess she doesn't feel like she needs them anymore. That or maybe she would use crazy costumes again if she returned to pop music. Hard to say. I mean, it wouldn't make sense for her to wear a crazy costume singing with Sinatra. :)
@@Trifler500 She still wears the occasional crazy outfits here and there. She just released a pop album in 2020 and the outfits were very in your face. Now she’s promoting House of Gucci and her album with Tony so she’s dressing down.
@@Trifler500 In the fashion sense compared to her regular attire and what she’s known for it would be her “dressing down”. The point was she still does crazy outfits and dresses normal too lol
Lady GaGa is a true artist- she is incredible! Her videos are incredible if not sometimes super weird but engaging at the same time. Jay watch Telephone with Beyoncé!
Great song, hopefully you will listen to "Applause", not only a great tune, but the video is mind bending. Lady GaGa aka Stephanie, is one ultra talented little lady. Thanks Jay!
She actually wrote the song in about 10 minutes with RedOne and coproduced it with him. The duo is known for breaking barriers for electronic dance music in the late 2000s - changing the music landscape altogether.
I think you should do Weird Al's parody of Lady Gaga's "Born this Way," which is called "Perform this Way." He called her people to get permission to do it, and they just said no, without asking her. But when he managed to actually get a hold of her to ask, she thought it sounded hilarious and was all for it.
She has such an insane amount of music that is incredible for you to listen too, a real defining artist of my childhood. I get upset when I realise that here in the UK a children are about to go to high school who are younger than this song!!! 😂
Lady Gaga is one of the best selling artist of all time . She has six #1 albums on billboard 200 and five #1 singles On billboard hot 100 . She is one of the few artist in history who have a triple certified diamond songs. Her superbowl halftime show 2017 is iconic one . Please react to it
Paparazzi, Alejandro, and love game are also great songs of her from that time. I just watched her new movie house of Gucci and she’s not only a great singer but great actress too she has so much talent. If you’re ever thinking of doing a movie reaction house of Gucci would be a good one to do but do it a bit in the future the movie just came out.
1983simi My Name Is Yacine And My Favorite Songs By Lady Gaga is Bad Romance, Just Dance, Poker Face, Telephone & Beyonce, Paparazzi, I Like It Rough, Money Honey, Beautiful Dirty Rich, Eh Eh Nothing Else I Can Say, The Fame, Dance In The Dark, And Alejandro and the last songs is Lovegame Summerboy, Boys Boys Boys And Monster And Also So Happy I Could Die
She was the first concert that I had seen in about 20 years. In all my years of loving music I've been to about 400 concerts (I went to see just about everyone in the 80's). I was absolutely Blown Away at the little monsters tour! Not only did she sound terrific, but she never stopped! She is an incredible show woman! What blew me away even more was that she suffers from fibromyalgia the same as I do. She is so many amazing songs that I wouldn't even know where to begin. But I will start with my 3 favourite. Bad Romance Dancing in the Dark Paparazzi And not to mention the soundtrack to A Star is Born. Her voice alone is mind-boggling 🖤🖤🖤
I've listened to this song countless times, but you've just introduced me to the video and I'm so blown away by the opening sequence!!! Don't know why I never saw this video but she is so incredible. I got chills!
RedOne produced this. He was pretty much her go to guy at the beginning of her career. He also produced Bad Romance, Just Dance and Alejandro among many others.
Shoutout to the genius moroccan producer REDONE for making this iconic timeless masterpiece song ! Fun fact : He is the one doing the "mum mum mum mah" ad libs !!
She looked much prettier in Poker face and her 1st video then the others. I wondered why they felt the need to airbrush her as the standards are so high for female beauty.
Lady Gaga and actually sing!! I think this is uncommon for many "new" singers. I saw her perform at Ottawa Blues Fest in 2014. She sang 'Born This Way' and played piano, no other accompaniment. It was amazing to hear her sing live!!
I'm a rock chick but always liked this especially the chorus. She's done so much and still only in her early 30s. A must do is Shallow from A star is born and Paparazzi
The lyrics are in fact very smart and somewhat deep, the song uses the poker metaphor as her way to describe how she deals with men, is about pulling a man's leg, her experience with bisexuality and her sexual experiences with men, she says "he can't read on my poker face" she's not really enjoying it so she has to put on her poker face, she even has to fake her orgasms to get out quickly from that unfortunate sexual encounter, because in reality she's fantasizing with women, she doesn't want to be with a man in that moment, the background says "she's got me like nobody" in general i think is about feeling misunderstood and putting a mask on, po-po-po-poker face po-po-poke her face, brilliant!
My fave video by her. This the one that made me a fan. I remember going to target after school to buy the cd and burning my classmate a copy. Almost 13 years ago! Time fly so fast. 😱Crazy!
How about that I JUST commented on your other video you just posted before this, about a Lady Gaga song...WOW, that's freaky. :) This is still a banger. I remember dancing to it on a cruise with my best friends, ages ago. We were the only silly girls on the cruise club dance floor. "Ma-ma-ma-ma...." Say what you will about this woman, but she certainly knew what she wanted to do with her music, and her influence. She's always taken it very seriously, but still had a lot of fun. Love her swagger and her confidence, not to mention her vocal expression.
im so glad, i actually searched for "lady gaga poker face review" because i want to know there are other people that appreciate this song because it is SO good! i feel like a good song manages to encapsulates the feeling of a single moment and when i listen to this song i'm back in 2008 in a club. and i was only 8 years old back then LOL. meaning, this song transports you to a specific scene, a specific moment in time that i would go as far as to say it was the golden age of clubbing. it was before phones really took over and paparazzi and tabloid culture was still at a forefront. we will never get back that time and every thing shall pass, but music like this brings us back and it's awesome. it's true, i'm quite religious and have never been to a club but this song makes me want to DANCE!!! it is so good. especially the intro with that "mamamama" and laser beam music, that's literally the quietessential 2008 club scene.
I still believe her half time superbowl gig in Houston was one the all time great showpieces. Her singing, dancing and piano playing were wonderful, but the high wire stunt at the start of her performance was not only breathtaking, it looked bloody dangerous. She is the ultimate all round artist, I love her.
That was just like a line from the Producers starring Nathan Lane & Matthew Broderick ‘Even though we’re sitting down, we’re giving you a standing ovation’
Jay - you asked about the lyrics? I saw an interview with Her and they asked her what it was about. She said that while she was with her ex boyfriend, and they were having..."private time" she sometimes fantasized that she was with a girl she knew instead. Her boyfriend never knew because he couldn't read her "poker face" while she was "bluffing with her muffin" - bet you're glad you asked :)
I like when you do lyric readings on camera Before or afterwards, as a fan it makes me feel like more of a connection to the reaction as a bit of behind the scenes that you tend not to show.
True story- my fiance got pulled over for speeding while he was listening to this song. When the cop walked up, my fiance just looked at him and said "Lady Gaga made me do it?" The cop let him off 😂
Come on people you know you want to get up and dance with this beautiful song and music lady gaga she's a beautiful woman and she is a great voice and she a rock star
