Why use batrangs when bullets are faster?

If you think of the timeline, Batman's parents were killed by bullets shot from a gun. Joker shot Batgirl with a bullet, making her unable to walk and put her in a wheelchair. So it kind of makes sense that they would rather use batrangs, a signature weapon, then bullets because of what happened in their past. Don't take it seriously though man, it was just a little joke seeing as all the characters we using non-lethal weapons whereas Jason wasn't.
