Just installed Gothic 1 on steam.. and my Xbox one controller is working without any third party program. You can even go to to controlls > keyboard and remap buttons. Maybe that new patch added controller functionality
These people have never seen BasicallyHomeless I guess. You can play games with anything, really. Its all just input signals. Also: using the Power of a wii remote I will finaly be able to punch every character in the game. What a bonus
Yeah the most funny part about it - they intended to create Gothic 1 already with controllers in mind, but stuck to the keyboard anyway. Oh and at first they forgot to implement the usage of a mouse control. A german gaming magazine (which got early test versions) had to draw attention about it to the developers back in the day by. The journalists name was Petra Schmitz and the magazine was Gamestar. But anyway. Will there ever be reviews or videos about the total conversion mods like (for example Legend of Ahssun) for Gothic 1 and 2 on this channel? I think, this might be an interesting thing, to look up, how people until today spend alot of time with this game.
That would be a thought for 2022. Some of these mods have more content than some recent RPGs, meaning that reviewing them will probably be equally as time consuming. I'll think about it, I won't promise anything in this regard.
@@criticalbytes1739 thx anyway for the answer. Yeah would be nice, if there ever would be time for something like that. If not, it's also not a problem. This content doesn't run away.
Gothic 1 definitely felt inspired by Tomb Raider - you got them tank controls and the Temple of the Sleeper is basically a Tomb Raider level. So the gamepad controls would make sense (especially since even the menus you had to navigate through with just the keyboard).
That's how I played it a looong time ago, I still have that controller and it's still working, I retired it though. xpadder was the only program at the time now there are a lot more options.
If you have installed it properly, you may need to re-install it, it should be at the designated install-location. The document folder should be in there.
Even back in the day, I think Gothic could've worked quite well on the original Xbox. I mean, it got Morrowind so why not Gothic? PS2 got Drakan 2 exclusively, even though Drakan 1 was a PC game. G1 didn't even have mouse support so it would've worked well with the OG Xbox gamepad. I guess Piranha simply did not have the budget for a console port.
This is too much work for a console peasant and for pc gamers this is common sense. Also wait until you get complains that you can't get Gothic on android next. lol
This is common sense for the older generation, regardless of platform they are playing on. The new generation of gamers has an attention span of a goldfish, no way they would bother setting this stuff up lol
