It's the price of playing a defence first -style of game in Carolina. He even plays a lot of PK. He's a legit superstar and easily the most important player for this team.
In hockey it's all about speed and matching the speed, he was coming in full speed and the D is just about flatfooted, it was a beautiful move but poor D work.
As an ex Flyers fan, Fletch traded 3 draft pics to Carolina for DeAngelo. The defenseman Aho schooled with this goal. I don't think Carolina could have said yes, to that trade fast enough. It's indescribable how bad Fletch ruined this team for years to come.

The rebuild should have started years ago, but instead Fletch traded away ton of draft picks over the last 2 years. Including the 3 picks for DeAngelo. So not only did he trade 3 picks to get him, his points are helping to keep the Flyers in a sate of perpetual mediocrity. Feel free to Google any words I used that you don't understand.
@@B__C You're right,i was a little insulting. Actually a rebuild should be a combination of draft picks and good players like my Rangers did a few years ago. Banking on just draft picks takes way too long.
@@johnrwalker53 I agree, draft pics as the foundation then a combination of sign/trade to fill in the gaps. And if you look at the make up of the foundational draft pics of the teams that are winning the cup, you'll see a couple of # 1's and a handful of top 10 pics. And those later round draft pics can be combined to trade up. Fletch is a F'n incompetent clown. Holmgren only hired him because Fletch outbid him on those 2 10 year contracts for Sutter and Parise years back. The fact that he kept Minnesota in a state of perpetual mediocrity wasn't a big enough red flag? Then Holmgren get PROMOTED???

I just started watching the canes since Puljujarvi got traded and oh my gosh $8.42M Aho gets paid? And he basically does nothing every shift. Of course you’re going to get goals if you get ice time. But this canes team is garbage I don’t understand how they win so much. They just sit back sit back and hope so,etching breaks down and even so Aho is weak. Not very fast. Gets pushed off the puck often…etc. this teams a joke they’ll never win a cup…ever.
Well they put an Oiler on the roster what do you expect. It will take some time to fix Puljujarvi but the Canes will get it done. As for Aho- He is probably one of the best two way centers in the league.
