Praise Yah creator of heaven, the earth, the seas and all that in them is. Enjoy.
Hello all, I hope you enjoy this video. In this video I do an initial impression of the Gotway Nikola plus, which my buddy was kind enough to let me borrow. In short, this wheel is all about speed and comfort. It makes sense because when traveling fast the last thing you want to worry about are bumps or potholes in the road, and the worse part is not even seeing them before you hit them. With this wheel, rider comfort seems to have been on the top of the list for Gotway, because that's what you'll feel from the start. It's extremely comfortable to stand on and if you add a seat, it's even more comfortable.
Now compared to the MSX 84V the Nikola plus is just on another level and I would not try to compare them except to say that if you need a wheel, which you can push hard, with 10/10 maneuverability, cornering, range at a high rate of speed, portability and form factor in the eventually of having to carry it around or maneuvering effortlessly through traffic, then the 1600Wh 84v MSX is a great choice. However, when comes to speed, acceleration and comfort the Nikola plus has it all, just be aware that it's a big wheel and it will take some getting used to if you like riding in traffic or tight spots. But don't let that deter you if that's the wheel you really want, with time you will overcome the weight and form of the Nikola and you will absolutely grow to totally love it. Enjoy the video

As a Nikola 100 v owner, I agree this is a fast wheel. The maneuverability is a acquired taste. My negative experience is with the wobble down hills at top speeds. The heftiness of the wheel down hill when a wobble begins makes recovery almost impossible. I would call this the Cadillac CTS-V of wheels, because like you said it eats bumps alive expeditiously. Overall, I love this wheel, and I can’t wait until a new MSX. Thanks for another detailed review.

I must admit that I really like to listen to your comments because it's untouched by any external influences what is rare nowadays. I'm about to buy Nicola+ because it looks like this wheel is deeply checked by many users and it turned out to be deeply ok. Your opinion is very important for me especially because I learned to ride the wheel because of you. I really regret I can not ride in your area in order to share some feelings and met this nice wheel sociality. Thank you.

Hey, I'm loving the videos! I have a question, since I'm looking to get a wheel myself. I've been doing a lot of research, and I'm currently looking at the Gotway tesla. I know you said in a video, that this isn't a beginners wheel, but I'd rather spend more money on a higher-end wheel and learn on that, than having to buy two. Well, since you have had yours for so long, I was wondering if you think it is still worth buying, considering how old it is by now. Would it be better to buy a newer wheel because of the overall improvement of tech, or is it still a viable wheel these days? Keep up the videos!
@UStride
@UStride 4 года назад
Thanks for watching man. Yes the Tesla is a very good wheel to have. I said it wasn't a beginner wheel only because I don't want you to destroy it because $1450 is alot of money for anyone lol. But you can definitely get it as your first wheel. Next to the Kingsong 18L it's actually perfect for a beginner who doesn't want to upgrade anytime soon. In my opinion, unless you're buying it used in great condition, then yeah get a new one if you can afford it. Just don't get frustrated when you buy it, take your time to learn it, don't rush it. Hope that helped

Thanks for watching the videos man. Yeah he used hose clamps from home Depot and a piece of clear plastic hose between the handle and the seat. So he basically used 4 clamps to clamp the hose between the seat and the handle. I'll ask him what he used and hopefully we can put out a short video. 86% on a 1845wh wheel is more than 86% on a 1554wh wheel:) I don't really understand the Nikola and 16X, because they are about the same weight and size as the MSX and 18X, but only 16-inch and lose a lot of nimbleness with the wide tires. They can't compete with an 18-inch wheel off-road, and in the city, they lose to the true 16 inch wheels, like the V10 and 16S, in maneuverability and jumping and to the 18-inch wheels when it comes to stability and rough on-road conditions. Sorry about this, but please consider this if you truly love EUC's: If you lose control at 31 mph your wheel will weigh about 4400 pounds, aka a quite deadly projectile, and if you weigh about 165 pounds standing still, your weight at 31 mph will be about 6600 pounds, which means a very big ouch if you wipe out. We don't want anyone dying or seriously injure themself or others, because that would bring laws and regulations, could even be banned, and we don't want that. If we are disciplined enough to ride at sensible speeds on public roads, especially on pavements and bike lanes, EUC's will continue to be something we all can enjoy:) Love your vids:)
@UStride
@UStride 4 года назад
Thanks for your comment man. Yeah I would have to have the Nikola for much longer in order to test range and everything else, but as far as safety you're totally right. Trust me, if you're not skilled you won't be going fast on an euc and if you fall at 31 mph, which I have multiple times early in the game while I was testing the limits, that will pretty scare you out of speeding or in my case make you a better rider at high speeds. Eitherway, I don't see the euc going main stream at all. At work I look out the window at one of the most busiest locations in Boston and I would be lucky to see just 1 EUC. it's definitely going to be one of the biggest niche segments in the EV world for sure, but never so common as e-scooters for example. However, regulation is definitely something I keep in mind when riding. I basically do things like stop at the lights often, let pedestrians cross at the cross walk, etc etc. That's all I can do for now, just try to be as respectful as possible while obeying as many rules as possible, but not killing my pleasure. I'll be honest when I go to NEW YORK, that mostly goes out the window, but that's usually in crazy group rides.
@Ylte
@Ylte 4 года назад
@@UStride Skill is something we tend to overestimate quite a bit, and I don’t believe that, when you get to a certain level, the lack of skill is the reason we wipe out, at least not on-road. This summer I had only one hard crash on tarmac. It happened when I had to avoid a car that decided to make a turn towards me without signaling and obviously didn’t see me, and in the only path that I could take there was a deep and large pothole:) No skill in the world could have prevented the crash. It happened really fast, so I couldn’t break and I couldn’t jump or in any way ride out of the pothole, it was too deep and wide. I do most of my hard riding off-road, so I do know how to take a fall and didn’t hurt myself in the crash;) The wheel got a weird bounce and almost accelerated away from me after the crash, and I was lucky there wasn’t anyone or anything in its path. The speed was only about 22-25 mph. I would say my skill level is decent enough after close to 3000 miles, where about 40% of that is done on fairly rough off-road trails. When I was younger, I did alpine skiing and ski jumping in the winter and off-road biking in the summer, so I have had more than a few wipe out’s at speeds above 62 mph. I’m not scared of speed at all, but I love EUC riding so much that I am afraid of the laws and regulations that might come. Therefore, I strongly believe we have to be sensible about the speeds we ride in public, especially on bike lanes and pavements. I believe that EUC’s have a bright future and that more and more people will start to ride. In many European cities, you can rent wheels, and in France, the number of riders is really starting to take off. I live between Oslo and Gothenburg, and the number of riders is steadily increasing in those cities as well.
@UStride
@UStride 4 года назад
@@Ylte nice comment man. Yeah skill is a broad term indeed. I strongly believe every EUC rider should experience crashing at low and high speeds (in not dangerous conditions) only to help them appreciate the danger of this technology. I crashed so many times in so many ways in the begining that it has made me a much more aware and skilled rider. I've tried so many different riding styles so that I could truly push my wheel to it'd limits without fear of cutouts etc. As far as regulations, I personally won't worry about it to much. There are lots of regulations already on many things but it's not enforced. So if you look at the saturation rate for he EUC, which is pretty low at the moment in USA, then you can assume resources won't be put in place to hunt down such a small group of riders, especially when you have crazy taxi drivers who cut in and out of traffic all the time, run lights, bikers hitting pedestrians every few minutes, the list goes on. It's safe to assume we are on the low end of the todem pole. This is not to say we shouldn't be more careful, and it's definitely not a pass to go wild. But very good points. My biggest concern is the fact that the EUC is made in China and that due to politics there could be some sort of ban but I hope not
@Ylte
@Ylte 4 года назад
@@UStride My point was that it doesn’t matter how skillful you are when shit happens, and shit does happen, especially when you are on the limit;) I loved the downhill slopes because they are only meant for skilled skiers, so you can go really fast, but one time I nearly killed a child. I went full sent in a narrow, steep and icy slope, loving every second of it, and at the edge of a really steep part of the slope I jumped, as you do when you don’t imagine someone riding slowly below. In the air I see a child sliding sideways down the steep part, and I see that I can’t avoid hitting that child. So I turn in the air and land sideways, breaking all I can towards the child, but I’m still going fast when I reach him. I banged into him and picked him up with my left hand and continued to break all I could. The hill was so steep that it took a while to come to a stop. Luckily, he was more shocked than bruised, but even though I am a skilled skier and fast thinker, there was only luck that saved him. Landing sideways at that speed and somehow managing to hold that force with my legs shouldn’t be possible. If the bindings had released and I had fallen, I would have hit him at about 55 mph. I totally get the thrill of speed, and I understand you trust your abilities, but public roads shouldn’t be the place you get your kick. I really recommend off-road riding, there you need all of your skills all the time, and there you get a much more satisfying kick, I don’t feel anything compared to that going fast on tarmac. At my favorite trail, I average about 15 mph, and I’m filled with adrenaline, drenched in sweat and can hardly stand on my feet after 60 mins of pure fun. As for the USA vs China trade war, I hope all the sensible people in America mobilize at the election and get rid of that human-looking retarded thing sitting in the office now.

@UStride
@UStride 4 года назад
depends on the wheel. Typically I ride in Medium. Example I used to ride in medium mode on my 84V MSX but after experiencing more powerful MSP Torque version I ride in hard mode on the 84V MSX because coming from the Torque version MSP riding the 84V MX feels weaker and medium mode feels like i'm over torquing the wheel. Hard mode with the MSX 84V handles my demand for power better
