This is an exciting watercolour technique which results in a graphic painting with the air of a woodcut. By using washable gouache and waterproof ink, you create a controlled but random image. I love it and find the whole process really exciting. You need resilient watercolour paper, gouache, Indian ink and possibly watercolour paints. Hope you enjoy it!
If you want to take this further, I have a paid for course over at www.lizchadertonstudio.co.uk

Thank you for sharing the link! I cannot wait to get a moment to sit and watch this. On my way to head out to church as I type. Just saw the very beginning and I absolutely love Bockingford Not watercolor paper. It was one of my very first watercolor papers I saved and purchased.

it’s an old film and I used to do that, until I realised it is so annoying and stopped!

This was fascinating. I love the way it turned out. Please, though, do not use repetitive background ‘musac’ because after a few minutes it becomes annoying to the point of irritating, especially for those of us who have some loss of hearing acuity. You are an inspiring and creative artist and teacher and I love watching you create your dynamic pieces. They are so full of life! Thank you for sharing your process with the world. ☮️❤️🙏

when I first made films three years ago I put music on, as I thought it was what you should do. I soon stopped. if you look at anything more recent, there will be no music. There is no way of removing the music, so I would need to delete the entire film.

Interesting, I’ve never seen a method like this before. I have done a bit of printing of different varieties and this really does give a mono printed effect, Looks really cool….. I never would have guessed that it was done this way! Really interesting! 🤔 Right I’m going to need some more black Indian ink…… Thanks liz…..

I have just bought your book and I saw this technique in there. I just had to see how you did it. And I love it. The tree really does look like a vintage illustration. By the way, I absolutely love the quirky church, pub and Deanery in the book. 😊

Love the effect of this technique! I was wondering would this also work on canvas?
@LizChadertonArt
@LizChadertonArt Год назад
As if by magic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zBrO_tVVHL8.html! Yes it does work on canvas, but is tricky. As the canvas is not as a sorbet even when primed, it does not hold on to the ink as firmly as it should. I have a full course on the technique here: www.lizchadertonstudio.co.uk/ink-resist-aka-gouache-wash-off

The end result is beautiful! I am mystified on how the gouache doesn't come off too. Isn't it water-based paint, like watercolor?
@LizChadertonArt
@LizChadertonArt 2 года назад
Most does come off and takes the excess ink with it, but the stain remains behind

Why are you playing that awful music behind the whole video over and over?? That is a stinger intro track, not a background track. It's so irritating, video is almost unwatchable

Gouache comes from French, so gooash sounds closer to the original French pronunciation, though both seem to be accepted in English.
