⁠@@presdude good question. Actually, in order for a school to be qualified for the free lunch program they have to enroll in the national meals program. You need to have a certain income to qualify for it and chances are if you’re a rich kid who maybe goes to a private school you won’t be qualified. School districts with higher income areas probably won’t qualify for it, either. Hope this helps.

Totally agree. I'm also thinking about how even wealthier families will have a little less stress having to pack lunch every single day. And how expensive is it actually to run cafeterias for kids? One of the best uses of money I can think of - there simply aren't downsides.

@@JosephMartinez88. im sorry, but some parents are not in a position to be able to provide for their families. some families have parents each working 2 jobs to be able to afford their cost of living and rely on school lunches. some families are in poverty, where the only way to get their kids food is to send them to a public school. some families contain neglectful or abusive parents, and the only salvation (and only food) for those kids is in school. so in a perfect world, yes, it would be the parent's responsibility. but our country is far from perfect.

America Is the wealthiest because most of the wealth is hoarded by the 1% and used to make themselves even more wealthy at the expense of the working class people helping to create that wealth. Capitalism needs the majority to have less so it can fill its belly. Its a unregulated system that exploits and harms its working class to increase profits. Just look at what happened to the Boeing airplane company it used to be known for safety and the highest quality planes in the world, but that is sadly no longer the case.

The children who need free lunches because of the income of their household already get free lunches. These households usually receive SNAP, for free groceries. No one is mad about feeding kids. It's the management of our tax dollars that's at question here.........
