Yeah I can’t justify spending more than double the price for hue, not until I at least try out govee. I get that it probably is better, but the costs for hue products are just too high when there are much cheaper alternatives, albeit perhaps not as good
I have three of these Govee Lyra floor lamps in my living room in the 3 opposite corners from my TV. They give off a pleasant background ambient light. I like the design which matches my Bowers and Wilkins silver speaker stands. You can now sync with the Govee immersion tv backlight, the T1 or T2 although I found that a bit distracting flickering away even on the slower movie mode although it does add to the immersion effect. Possibly if I had them either side of the TV it would be mor3 effective. Easy to assemble with all the screws and screwdriver in the box, and even better value now they are on offer with £50/$50 off. I’m not worried about them being dazzlingly bright because are ideal for bringing light to a dark corner of a room especially on a miserable Winter’s evening.
I have 2 Govee 2nd Gen H6702 floor lamps and they are excellent and truly amazing. I wouldn't consider them budget but a more intelligent option than purchasing the over the top priced Hue floor lamp.
I think it's really healthy that Philips gets some serious competition! I love Hue but Govee looks pretty darn good (especially for that price). I might have to try some out...
Yea I'm all about some competition up in here! Let's drive innovation and better prices :) I'm thoroughly impressed, but of course, still love my Hue and can't wait for their new products.
I tried some out and they suck...Their led strips are a joke they can't even produce proper colours. The orange is yellow and pink is non existent. Even if this was a $40 floor lamp why would you get it? IT doesn't sync with anything like ambilight, it doesn't integrade with any of the Hue scenes.
@@SpontaneityJD I have both Govee and Hue. I tried some Govee first and then i switched completely to Hue. The Hue's are miles better and getting them on Sales (that happen all the time actually) is the way to go
Awesome mate, I do love philips hue, like yourself 😁but always felt they are overpriced, loving the govee lights tho, so maybe gonna get some of their stuff
Yea it's definitely worth getting a few and using voice assistants and accessories to implement them all together - very easy. I still love my Hue, but. for certain areas, may go with Govee myself.
@@EvangelosTsontsis Haha understandable. If I was looking to have a more permanent solution I’d maybe look towards Hue. But you get what you pay for 🤷🏾♀️
I’m thinking about getting this light. I have a similar light from another manufacturer but even on the brightest setting isn’t too bright. How bright is this Govee light?
I created my own version of this last year by installing a 45 degree aluminum led channel running up the corner of my wall and installing a govee 32' kit in it. You have the get the really large corner track to be able to install both led straps into the one aluminum channel.
Can I use Amazon Alexa to turn on/off lights via voice at the same time with other Philips Hue products also connected? Basically, I want to say "turn on lights" or "turn lights blue" and it turns on all my Philips Hue light strips and Govee Lyra lamp. Or will I need Flic you mentioned even for the voice commands together?
You can control all Philips Hue and Govee in a room, together, at the same time like that, yes. You just need to put them all in a room on the Alexa app. Optionally, you can assign the Alexa to a room so you dont need to say "in bedroom," etc.
Hey there. I was thinking of putting 4 of these in the 4 corners of my home theater. Can you control all 4 simultaneously using just 1 remote ? Basically, can you group them in the govee app? Thanks in advance!
Govee has definitely impressed me! While I still love hue, the idea of having some govee around the house to incorporate alongside Hue is totally doable and cost-effective.
Goove is good if you want good light at low price but when you want to sync your lights you need hue stuff for that ! So Iam waiting for their new lamp :)
Toootally understand. Hue is great for Hue Sync and I don't see another company, even Govee, beating them at that! I still highly recommend Hue Sync and will definitely review all their new entertainment gradient lights! Can't wait for next month :)
@@Justin_tech I don’t mind the camera. It’s actually pretty good at sync the colors are pretty accurate for the price I sent a link of the video of it on Messenger
@@Justin_tech I have one as well. With the option to mount the camera at the top and bottom of screen you can hide it well. Especially in my case where it is hidden behind a sound bar. It is amazing and would recommend to anyone. Would happily pay 2x the price for it
What limits you from buying 2 pairs of Bluetooth HarmanKardon speakers. Buying a Govee led strip and fixate it to a led alumium fixture, create a base for it to sit ontop of the BT speaker. Kazaam! For 200$ per piece you have a stereo pair of speakers with a led show exactly like this for 30$ extra for the led feature. Total for a stereo par 460$ 😷 Less per unit than Philips Hue & you get 2 speakers!
There ace. Fab vid 👍😁 One small thing from govee and hue lights strips why o why do they do segments why not let us control every single led on there like the cheepr ic ones do very strange lol just saying be more colour with every led controled lol 👍😉😃
Help me!! My govee lights only stay on white, I can’t even press color it doesn’t work. I have it connected to the app and wifi but it won’t switch colors.

Love the RGBIC and that they are so reliable in the connection unlike LiFX that are so good at color saturation and brightness but a pain in the connection stability. I did my version of this with different lights, TP link Kasa, Philips hue, Govee and some ws2812 with 60 leds per meter
@@denodan yeah, in my experience it requires a little of diy soldering to make a clean look, cuz the ones with pvc and exposing leds looks horrible, also, if you are after that, I would recommend using the Tp link lightstrip, Philips hue gradient or even the Lifx one (even with the not so reliable connection stability) Using those for DIY will give you by far, the best colors, whites and brightness by far that no other leds gives. But, tbh, those Lyra from govee is a lot of banco for your buck
@@denodan oh btw, don’t recommend the govee RBIC for a DIY of this kind cuz the brightness is not that great for fixture lamp of this size, also, you’ll lose a lot leds in the process alongside with the full display of functionality
Both philps and this are a rippoff when they are so easy to make for a fraction of the price. It's not that expensive to get RGBIC strips and make one. So what about all the effect in the Govee app, you will never use them. They are charging you a lot of the app, hense the rediculous price your paying
Right? The box makes it appear that you face the lit side into the corner but when you do that, the cord faces out and the logo faces the corner. So it's either supposed to be lit side facing out and the box is wrong, or the pole itself is screwed into the base the wrong way.
@@supraguy4694 I think the box is wrong. This one clearly is meant to have the lights facing forward and not towards the corner. I've had the lights facing out for some time now and like it.
Your paying for the app, not the lightbar, as its far over priced. You can buy them for half the price at least, or make them dead simple and less than half the price the components are cheap, so a good 80% of the price your paying for the app. Think the price is a rippoff. The remote is not very good and would have been great of it to have functionality or great functionality on the remote, something like the cheaper ones do.
lol this guy putting it in the hard way @2:20 timestamp. You just snap it into place... of course its real hard to put it in that way you did it. I'm actually impressed you managed to do it that way. Next time read the instructions you would have saved yourself a lot of aggravation.
Man I really appreciate your video very helpful, but do me a favor!! Go trim your moustache on your right side it is not straight and that does not let me enjoy your video I want to jump in with a trimmer and fix it 😂😂
Bro how can you review the product and don't know how to assemble it the properly that's really bad. because it will flag up negatives about the product when the issue is just your assembling it wrong. It shows you the correct way to install it on the website with a video plus you don't slide the strip in you just press it in flat from the base
Oh my God I don’t like Philips Hue my God I love watching you jeez you’re gorgeous you’re better than actually watching x tube well for me anyway though constantly having to wipe down my phonexxxx
Do you know what mate, It’s great to see you getting away from the Philips Hue i told you some time ago there’s another world out there and do you know what, it’s BETTER AND CHEAPER. But please don’t say ONLY $I50 that’s a lot of money for some people.Don’t talk like money isn’t a problem.
Wow that is one tacky lamp. There is enough RGB lighting in the world without a corner lamp. the old school looking led bulbs are pretty stunning if you have a cool lamp for them
