Became they all operate on a mandate to grow the asset base first and foremost that being a condition put on all iwi on receipt of the funds supplied by the taxpayer of whom every person named as a beneficiary within that iwi are. So in fact we too are paying for this so called compensation ourselves. If any monies are available after investments to grow the asset base are available they then can but not necessarily be distributed to the beneficiaries at the discretion of the trust. Contrary to the popular belief that maori have all this money to invest into the betterment of their beneficiaries lives the conditions that came with that money fundamentally impedes the ability for the iwi to do what you have suggested and let's not forget that this money essentially a debt trap as you could hardly call it compensation if the people being compensated are also the people who are paying for it neither does it remove the responsibility for the governing bodies to fulfill their obligations to their citizens including iwi.

preferential treatment for Maori and Pacific in any form is racist and is an insult to these people, they are more than capable of entering and performing under normal circumstances, dumbing down the academic system could lead to bad outcomes in the long run. it's also about time that the tv media ( along with other media outlets ) started delivering honest, balanced, and truthful programmes, personal agenda's and activism has no place in the media, it's about time they cleaned it up or cleared it out.

Maybe it's because everyone should be treated equally. And race shouldn't be an issue as there is only one race... The Human race, everyone in this day and age has the same chance at an education as every other person in this country. I want someone qualified for the job that strive by being educated to do so without it being done on any form of race. I don't care the colour of skin of the person helping look after me as long as they are qualified to do so
@arihiawaata8160
@arihiawaata8160 10 месяцев назад
@konceptgaming9469 I agree, but just because they are qualified does not mean they all have the best intentions. If a racist/ classicist becomes qualified in whatever field of profession they choose, they will exercise their intentions against those they are racist/classicist against. If every doctor or nurse shared your sentiments then every patient would experience the best quality of care and in that case we would be able to experience equality. Unfortunately, reality is what it is and a lot of Maori & Pacific Islanders suffer as the result.

I was once told by a doctor that everyone of us on this planet has the same opportunity as each other and our bodies differ so little no matter what race. And that cultural beliefs are the cause for a lot of the health issues people end up with, but lots of cultures are to stuck in their traditional ways and dont want to change that. And this is one of the reason leading to higher health risks and higher deaths than other cultures. But so many choose to ignore this and lay blame on the system also which has to stop. And it's the same with the education system, and many other systems in NZ we need to be all equal no matter what culture you are. Moari and pacific people have the same opportunity the get a good education special funding just to help increase that then become a race issue again

@@konceptgaming9469 And as long as that doctor who shared his opinions and views with you, is treating Maori and Pacific Islander patients with the best quality of care and the same quality of care as he/she should with every patient he/she treats, and, as long as that doctor is using his/her qualification to ensure that his/her patients are able to receive all available resources specific to the patients health requirements, and also, just being a good human and wanting to see his/her patients live a good life within whatever span of health capacity the patient is in it's a definite plus in my book, it should be the top priority for every doctor. I'm not surprised that the doctor shared with you a very narrow view/opinion/theory, probably grew up exclusively and not relatable to the world outside of his/her own much like the broken health system that many have had such shocking experiences within. It's no secret that there are really wicked health professionals at all different levels of the medical field and in it's different sectors. Oh, actually, the last time I was at North Shore Hospital, there was a Maori woman at reception filling in for the Pakeha receptionist, but is she a medical professional, probably not. Most of the medical staff are imports from all over the world, and they are good at their jobs, but if third world countries are producing medical staff, what's wrong with NZ? What I did see was less Pakeha staff oh thats right, they all get qualified and bugger off to countries where they are treated better and get paid more! @@Gumpmachine1 Well, I'm not white or a public figure with wealth so I guess not. The experience is extremely terrifying knowing that people hide inside their professions only to reveal themselves to those who meet the criteria of their desired target and being that their target is vulnerable, means they can exercise their hate which they do. Sadly, this is the reality of the answer to your question.

@@arihiawaata8160 I actually meant were you polite, well spoken, agreeable. The reason i ask is because racial discrimination is often confused with negative behavioural traits. If you go into a medical facility with a chip on your shoulder thinking you’re going to be treated poorly because you aren’t white then you’re basically fulfilling your own prophecy. I’ve observed this myself where Maori patients were being aggressive and rude especially to the Indian staff at Rotorua hospital.

@@Gumpmachine1 Actually, I don't believe for a second that Maori seeking medical treatment for whatever health issue they have would present themselves negatively when in a vulnerable state of health, in fact, nobody would do this which negates your nonsensical theory of Maori seeking help with a preconceived belief that the level of medical care is based on whether or not you are well spoken. In the first instance, you're just a person seeking medical treatment. Being Maori or Maori without status isn't an issue until you're faced with a ''doctor'' that sees this as an issue and then proceeds to act upon it as it isTHEIR issue which is the reason WHY they proceed to terrorize your health leaving you to experience what they are doing to you as it is happening to you. Basically, you have entered an abusive relationship without knowing that your doctor whom you are seeking help from is going to use your vulnerability against you. I Know I'm not the only one who has experienced the wrath of racism/classicism. If you are a doctor reading this, and you have hidden issues of being racist or a classicist and intend on punishing patients that fit the description of your preferred target then do the right thing and either quit being a doctor or get professional psychological help so that you are not a hazard to patients lives, remembering that you took an oath to first do no harm.

Why wouldn’t they see a Pakeha doctor? Because they are racist..? Who else stopped and had to think about that example he gave lol

He said one might be more inclined to present a case earlier to a Maori doctor. It has nothing to do with racism and more to do with feeling more comfortable seeing a Dr whom may understand better their own culture therefore making them feel more comfortable and at ease.

How do you define 'Pakeha' ? If a person is 80% European and 20% Maori, is that person Pakeha, Pakeha with part Maori or what? A person with 80% Pakeha and 20% Maori in their DNA would NOT appear to be 'Maori', or is that inconvenience subject to the woke re-write of NZ science?

@@daedalus7677 it’s how you define Māori. That’s quite simple really, if you have genealogy which connects you to Maori then you’re Maori. Percentages aren’t a thing Māori will use.
