_Gordy’s Home!_ was one of my favorite shows growing up in the 90s; every time I hear this song it’s such a nostalgia trip. Still such an absolute tragedy what happened.
It shouldn’t have been that good of a show! Gordy‘s Home breathed life into a dying genre and gave us kids hope. I mean, dunno about using an actual chimp, would’ve preferred if Chris Katan was hired. Fuck friends, Gordy’s Home is where it’s at.

Gordy's Home!!!....What a great show...I remember the episode where Gordy gets bullied to smoke weed at school....he does the right thing says NO TO DRUGS. It was cool because first lady Nancy Reagan came on as a guest to make a "say no to drugs" promo with Gordy. They hugged and it was so nice. Rest in peace Gordy.
I remember that one too. My favorite part is when Tommy Chong showed up as a substitute teacher and said " Dave's not here, man!" At least that's how most things that weren't real go in my head

I used to LOVE this show, I wonder why it was cancelled, I heard Jupe got his own theme park! I had a ticket for his new "Star Lasso Experience" attraction but I lost it during a blackout, I heard Mary Jo was gonna be there too!
I found this song after seeing Jordan Peele’s tweet of the “Gordy’s Home” intro and some of the other tweets about the song. Like some people are saying, I thought the song was a fake song created for “Nope”/“Gordy’s Home”. To find out that it’s a criminally underrated song from the 1980s is AMAZING. And now, I can’t stop listening to it.

We get to see his new attraction, the Star Lasso Experience! I heard Mary Jo Elliott, the girl on Gordy's Home, will be there. I feel so bad for her. She got mauled horribly. Apparently her stalker was the one who killed the chimp

@@ernestocabral2765Unfortunately, according to a few witnesses and the people that did business with Ricky, he, Mary Jo, and the people who were at that ‘Star Lasso Experience’ event are all gone. And when I say gone, I mean that they’re dead, sadly. You see, they went missing during the event which was due to a serious miscalculation regarding the main attraction. Apparently, Ricky didn’t really take into account about the safety measures. This almost sounds like some unfortunate deja vu, given what happened on the set of “Gordy’s Home” and the circumstances surrounding that. About a day or so later after the disastrous event, human remains were found on the house and property of the people, who are siblings, Ricky did business with. It was said that the remains were dumped onto the house by something that was not of this planet. I’ll spare you the gruesome details because it’s much worse than you would think. It took several months of investigation and DNA testing, but according to the testimonies of the siblings and the other witnesses as well as footage of a strange, shapeshifting extraterrestrial creature in the sky, some of the human remains were identified to belong to Ricky, his family, and Mary Jo. EXTREMELY TRAGIC how it all came to this.
Honestly thought this was a modern song with like an 80’s styler/aesthetic. Turns out it’s just 80’s but you can hear how well this songs holds up today. Honestly music never expires, it’s just nice to see the ones that stand the test of time
Gordy's Home! Theme, such an awesome show. Too bad the mid/late 90s were oversaturated with Family Sitcoms, if this were a few years earlier or later it might have lasted. Such a tragedy it ended so shortly.
This song fits perfectly with this movie, I just stumbled upon the Gordy's Home trailer after watching the movie. All of Peeles movies have been amazing so far, even Us which I wasn't floored by has so many references and hidden meanings, these movies are like lasagna with so many layers and if u just want a basic horror movie it works still but I love digging into every bit of it. Also this song is super catchy and I have been singing it everday at work for the past 2 weeks :))

Listening to the actual lyrics of this song are actually terrifying when put with Gordy’s House because it is literally tell you to STAY AWAY from dangerous animals like Gordy and Jean Jacket. Yes they maybe fascinating in their own ways but they are still dangerous animals/predators that we should not try to tame or domesticate. I now dread this song because if only reminds me of the love people had for Gordy ending in Gordy killing and maiming his cast mates. He is literally given several birthday presents right before he goes nuts. Another tragic thing about this is how Jupe didn’t learn after the incident with Gordy, and goes on to try to tame Jean Jacket as an adult and actually pays the price this time.
No. Look it up before committing to what you hear in it because of Gordy's House. The song is about an individual who is so different than others in the "norm" the narrator finds them in, that despite how radical and different they are, the narrator cannot help but be captivated and drawn to follow and learn about them. It cautions that, those who are different from the norm, will be obsessed over by the norm, but in a different light. Trying to tear down their defenses and get to their soul to gain a sense of power over them because their uniqueness threatens the norm. it is a beautiful tale about embracing the differences in each other as sources of closer bonds and not division. "Strange Animal" is a metaphor.
Whelp... I'm one of those dufuses who thought this was a fake song made for _Nope._ I really dug it (I'm a glutton for 80's/90's music), so I kept listening to that short clip from the _Gordy's Home_ credits... only to discover that it's an actual song from the 80's!

Oh i just read an archive about that show that was published today. Apparently after the scene when the balloon popped the chimp went crazy and started killing everyone on the stage. He was then shot dead .
