This version is an Irish translation of the Manx Gaelic song Ushag veg ruy. Thus the differences in pronunciation and spelling than Manx. Ms. Holland has a beautiful voice and the video was well composed. Thank you for posting your video.

Little red lark from the black moor The black moor, the black moor Little red lark from the black moor Where did you nest last night? I slept last night on the bramble bush On the bramble bush, on the bramble bush I slept last night on the bramble bush Oh my sleep was restless! I slept last night on the ocean waves On the ocean waves, on the ocean waves I slept last night on the ocean waves Oh my sleep was restless! Little red lark with the golden wings With the golden wings, with the golden wings Little red lark with the golden wings Where did you sleep last night? I slept last night between two leaves Between two leaves, between two leaves I slept last night between two leaves And oh my sleep was peaceful! _______________________________________ Not Irish... it is Scottish Gàidhlig I am afraid, I do not know the Irish: Uiseag bheag dhearg na mòna duibh Na mòna duibh, na mòna duibh Uiseag bheag dhearg na mòna duibh Càit an do chaidil thu raoir? I stopped listening to English language songs after getting tired of them as they no longer sounded appealing as they did when i was a kid. May be new songs are terrible. I instead started enjoying Korean songs starting with K Pop. But I find these songs in Celtic languages very beautiful sounding. May be because these are old songs.

But of course, my grandad had to teach me and my cousins pictish. Pictish! A language that hasnt been used sinsce the twelfth century. So, i have no idea whats being sung. My grandad can speak both irish and scottish gaelic, but no... He had to teach me pictish.
@Crambeu
@Crambeu 7 лет назад
There is no written testament of pictish. How can you teach someone that language?
@andrewgould6689

Must have been hard considering the language has been completely lost to time.

I'm in total agreement. No record of Pictish being written down. They say it may have been related to the Brythonic branch of the Celtic languages, not too sure though.
