Your welcome. I guess it’s pretty common here in Japan because this car came with no AV syatem from the factory. Only those for export has that 8” infotainment system.
Love this video just a question does this unit have to be floating or if there an option to mount it more flush and close o the unit sitting in the dash or is that what you explained with the two bolts u left unscrewed to slide it back and forth? I want to purchase this myself I’m just not a fan if the screen poking out I’d rather it sit close and flush like the original radio unit that would come with the car i hope I explained this properly Lol apologies if my explanation is unclear
Just found it on Amazon. Here's the link www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0BPHCK1W8?ref=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_AAZTY53XJ5QHNF392MTV_1&ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_AAZTY53XJ5QHNF392MTV_1&social_share=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_AAZTY53XJ5QHNF392MTV_1&starsLeft=1&skipTwisterOG=1
Many thanks for your video! Today, I tried to install the nabi same with you to GR86 RC. Could you please tell me the right line for STGND (ステアリングリモコン線) of JP-CA115TS from the Atoto side? I cannot find a suitable line for the STGND!
Question do some aftermarket headunits still have all the features that control that car built into the display. Examples are auto dome lights remote start auto light shutoff etc
No we they don't. The stock headunits foe overseas are the only once that has those functions. We can only access those settings thru the gauge panel info display. Here in Japan, there is no such "stock headunit". So only aftermarket ones are available like Pioneer, Alpine, Toyota brand, etc..
@@39gjapanunfortunately there’s quite a few global car settings in the brz head unit.. I feel like this means we are locked in to keeping the stock head unit which is very average.
Thanks for the great video explanation and info. Do you know how to connect an original Subaru reverse camera(part number H0017CC00)? What is the harness required for this reverse camera?
@@39gjapan nice, looking forward to your video explanation on the installation detail for original reverse camera. No, I am located in Malaysia. I bought a BRZ from Japan, it doesn't have an original reverse camera. So finding info and detail how to install the original reverse camera.
@@39gjapan by the way, do you know the part number for the 9" lower panel of the infotainment system? Because mine is installed with 7" panel, want to switch it back to 9" lower panel. So finding the part number to buy. You help is highly appreciated
Ok, I will check it out for you. But Im not sure how long it will take for me to check it again. Im prolly gonna check it when ai have another mod that needs to remove that part
@@39gjapan ok sure appreciate it. let me know if you found the part number. in this video when you take out the lower panel I saw the code but it is not clear.
Thank you for the video, very helpful. Do you know the factory pin out by chance? Wondering why you did not connect the 6-pin wire? Do you know where is the factory signal wires?
I actually lost my note, so I wasn’t able to include it in the video.. I had everything I needed with the 12pin connector. So I left the 6pin.really forgot what it was for. If I find it, I’ll post it later on.
@@39gjapan Thanks for sharing. Not sure about the 12pin cable you mentioned. I see 20pin, 6pin and 5pin cables. I will try to find out full pin out for the car just to ensure everything is connected correctly. Also still wondering about 6 pin cable, I presume it is a back up camera signal there, even if we don't have camera itself. Cheers
@@39gjapan thanks for clarifying, I'm working on figuring out the wires at the moment so hope to connect everything right. Doing double check every single one
hey awesome video,i have found the stereo for the car, but as far as the steering wheel controls for the wiring harness-i can't order it in Japanese -is there a english option to order the harness?
@@39gjapan if the stock radio has the steering wheel wire harness that works with aftermarket stereo that would be awesome, i guess i should pop it out and take a look.
Im actually not sure. I dont see much of these harnesses outside Japan. But some guys here uses the 20pin nissan wiring harness and seems ro work as well.
In Japan, all trims doesn’t come with a display. This is not because this is a sports car, but almost all cars here in Japan doesn’t come with a display. Infotainment units are options at the dealership, or you can get an aftermarket one from any shop you want. It’s actually great.
@@39gjapan That's really suppressing I thought everyone moved on from aftermarket radios or it is like this here in Poland. Last car I saw with a separate unit was may dad's '97 carina E. After that all our Toyotas had a build-in radio. But it makes sense I see a lot of audio modifications and custom fancy audio systems in Japan.
I’ve been searching for the OEM part number for the RHD radio mounting brackets - in the US the GR86/BRZ doesn’t come with a provision for installing an aftermarket radio. Any chance you’re aware of the part number for the brackets? I’ve already found the P/N for the trim piece, brackets are all i’m missing.
Actually no. I got the Base Model. If you watched my first video, I explained that here in Japan, we order cars from the dealership differently compared to other countries. After we pick the trim, we can choose to add tons of options to the car. So by that, I did not get the factory Unit. So basically, all cars in Japan doesn't come with such head units (Most cars).
It would work. But the fitment wouldnt be a 100%. There will be a huge gap on the back of the display because this is a universal 1din.. Im sure it will be covered by the huge display on front. But there will still be some opening behind it
It’s a universal 1din with a floating display. So there will be a huge hole/space behind the display.. Unless you get an adaptor like this one: a.aliexpress.com/_mKwuoBo
