Well, if your motor is running, I would really consider fixing the one you have. The cost of a new 695 is about $2500. You could fix yours foe considerably less of the board and motor are good. I rebuild them fairly often, and they are just like new and reliable.

Nice and detailed video, great content. I have the same machine, but after being idle for 2 years (and the guy that last used it, filled it partially with water) it won't such up the paint. Do you think it's rust at the primer valve that could be the issue? I unscrewed and checked both balls, everything is loose and fine.
@Brian_the_repair_guy
@Brian_the_repair_guy 2 года назад
The machine should prime regardless of the prime valve. If both balls are free, try putting oil in the lower inlet housing before you reassemble. Then give it a try. Let me know what you get.

@@Brian_the_repair_guy I already did that, but haven't disassembled more than up to the intake valve housing - Looks like I might have to upen up tho the piston and look through things there. Great information that you are sharing. If my Graco 490 has a slight hissing sound near packing does that mean I need new packings? Also it tends to keep running after I release the trigger. Thank you you in advance
@Brian_the_repair_guy
@Brian_the_repair_guy 3 года назад
If you have a hiss after the pump stops, the first thing I would check is the inlet valve. Pull the inlet housing. Remove the ball guide, ball and seat. There should be a white gasket under the seat. Remove this. Check the base where the seat and gasket sit. Ensure that the shoulder that holds the gasket and seat is smooth. Should be shiny, not dull or pitted. If it is, replace it and the gasket. Reassemble and check it out. If these look good, pull the piston and check the packings, upper and lower ball to ensure they are smooth. Replace any part not in good condition.

Quick question Brian, I’m repacking a 1095 and according to the instructions on the back on the outlet valve the retaining ring goes first and then the plastic wiper washer but here you put wiper washer first and then retaining ring….does this vary depending on the machine….error on Graco instructions? @Brian_the_repair_guy

When the male gland is stuck on the piston I will usually put the piston in the jaws of a vice. I tighten it enough to where the piston is loose but the gland sits on the jaws. I put the outlet valve back on the piston about half tight. I then begin to tap down on the inlet to force the piston out of the gland. Place you hand under the piston in case in falls to prevent damage. If this is not clear, let me k ow. I will try to clarify the instructions.

Sir which one better graco 695 standard or Titan 840.?
@Brian_the_repair_guy
@Brian_the_repair_guy Год назад
Personally, I prefer the Graco 695. There isn't much difference in the performance and ability of each machine. The warranty is the same. The 840 has to wear on the cylinder, so that is something you don't have to replace, but the piston and packings typically wear faster than the Graco 695. Parts for the Graco are found in more places than Titan.

@philipbell9301

That sleeve was definitely wasted, but if the scratches are very fine, a Scotch Brite pad can take fine scratches out of the sleeve, you just don’t want to overdo it because it can oversized the sleeve for the piston.
@Brian_the_repair_guy
@Brian_the_repair_guy 2 года назад
If you use anything to remove the fine scratches, then you are removing the actual.metal, making the internal circumference larger. Not only that, but you are not able to do this in a uniform way. Making some areas much larger than others. Either way, the seal is not tight and will allow a pressure leak. This will expedite the wearing of the packings. So in a very very short time you will be right back in the shop, much sooner to spend more money on another set of packings as well as the sleeve you were going to replace any way. Everyone is free to perform whatever "repair" on their machine that they like, their choice. My purpose on the video is to show the best possible way to repair the machine that will not cost you more money sooner, rather than later.

@@Brian_the_repair_guy It was in some ways, because I have a 490 it wasn’t exact but the idea is the same. As you know mine doesn’t have the same type of sleeve as the 695. I was actually in my buddies auto shop doing the repacking and showed him the inside of the sleeve and he was the one who recommended I use scotch brite otherwise I wouldn’t have even considered it, they take 1000’s of inches off cylinder sleeves in vehicles often. This list is lengthy. I will list the items NOT made in the USA. wheels, some hoses, electronics. Most electronics (specifically the boards) are made in Isreal. Some electronics (secondary items) like the transducer and potentiometer are made in China by Graco specifications and QC. Not made in China with pirated technology illegally. If you have a issue with a part, Graco has a warranty on their parts. The Chinese knock offs do not. As with any machine, it only takes one part to put you down. No matter if it is packings, piston, electronics or what have you. We all know this. This is exactly why I make this videos and repeatedly state that in the videos. These videos are to help people like you that are in a bind and need to get the job done and paid. If you can't appreciate that, then I am sorry. I also state repeatedly that a certified shop is recommended when you have completed the job, because a certified repairman knows what to look for to prevent other problems and also what possibly lead to the problem you have. Your above scenario does not justify NOT taking your machine to a certified shop. In fact, it reinforces the idea of a certified shop.
