Hi Kayla! I just wanna share a few tips I learned from BLW facebook group (Copy paste) ·····Shoulder straps and lap belts····· Here is our stance on shoulder straps and some explanation. Shoulder straps are unnecessary and can keep a baby from thrusting forward properly during a gag to prevent choking. If you are uncomfortable not using any straps, then we recommend only using the lap belt. 🙂 We do not recommend using shoulder straps. A baby needs to have full range of motion when they gag so they can use movement and gravity to help themselves clear their airway. Leaning forward can help (gravity wise) move the food forward. Most babies lean forward when they gag. Adults lean forward when they gag. Imagine if you were gagging but were strapped down where you couldn't move to help yourself in whatever way you needed. Imagine if that gagging led to vomiting and you needed to lean forward to expel that vomit.. Additionally if a baby were to choke, it's going to take longer to get them out of the chair when you have to deal with straps. You can do what you're comfortable with. As a group we recommend not using them unless baby is trying to stand or crawl out of the chair. But it's just a recommendation. Don't be offended when we offer this tip. You can use your best judgement. 🙂 ❓Now you might be asking yourself: "if straps are unnecessary then why do highchairs come with them? 1) Unfortunately, many people still feed babies way too young and these babies cannot sit up unassisted and need the straps to hold them upright. (This is dangerous). 2) Eventually babies turn into little dare-devil, test-the-limits, I-can-do-anything, no-concept-of-danger toddlers (❤️) and may attempt to stand in their chair/booster or attempt to crawl out. At this point straps may be necessary but usually lap belts are sufficient. 🙂 ❓"My lap belt won't buckle without buckling the shoulder straps. What should I do?" You can loosen the shoulder straps and pull the straps off his/her shoulders and leave the buckles buckled. In other words pull his/her arms through where the straps go behind him/her. 🙂 #noshoulderstraps

Graco has such superb products. That this converts to a booster seat can be a big deal if you need him to eat at table when out or away. And he is a little person, so you should notice that both children eat and behave somewhat better when at table with you and Joe or other adults and are included as part of the mealtime and conversation experience. He will tend to mimic you more when given the opportunity. In turn, Riley may try some new things because everyone else is eating and enjoying them. Never, ever say to her, "oh, you won't/don't like this." It's terrific that he can sit upright from all directions in this since our bodies work on gravity. It is safer for him eating. Tell Riley that Jackson does not fit in her highchair, which she will be done with soon anyway now that she's getting to be a big girl. I know she cannot really be graduated from it until you know she will sit at table with you and Jackson and Joe and eat. Otherwise, you will have mealtimes going on forever and interfering with everything else in the household. She will probably always be something of a grazer in terms of her eating habits. It seemed as though Jackson liked his new seat. It is surely versatile. At the moment his feet are not truly unsupported because they are not hanging over the edge of the seat enough to give him a dangling sensation. I think it's quite smart looking, as well. It looks more modern than Riley's chair does even. It fits in well. He's the new baby, so gets the infant carseat and the new highchair suited to his size. Riley has to get used to that. If she goes to something as archaic as a prom, she will get a prom dress, accessories, and a corsage from her date. Jackson, if done the old school way, will get a rented tuxedo, accessories, and have to buy the flowers for his date. So it's not like she's losing out in life. It's like a comedy routine watching babies get used to eating. They do such weird things with the food and they make such funny faces. It really is entertaining. But he liked the sweet potatoes and was actually eating them, so he's getting the hang of things. It's easy for us to forget that this is brand spanking new to them. Never in the universe have they had prior experience of any of this, so they're figuring it out. It is even sort of funny when they drop stuff onto the floor a hundred times because they are literally learning that gravity will work every single time. That seems odd to us because we use gravity all the time to meet our needs in a gravity-defined world. And I have to tell you that even aside of the fact that I was a colicky baby, so empathized with him, and I love a guy who wears a bow tie, I just adore Jackson's furrowed brow, discerning look of possible critique until he's figured out what's going on and how he feels about it. He cracks me up. It's like he's saying inside his head, "I have to ponder this awhile, because I'm just not sure of this whatever it is." Actually, not a bad trait to carry into adulthood: not being impulsive, giving thought to all.

Do you know how to remove the seat's buckles to wash? I can't figured it out

I have this highchair too. The only thing I don't like is that you cant remove the crotch and waist straps to clean them. Mine are stained as a result. The best way I've found to clean them is to remove the back of the chair and all seat padding, fill a large bowl with hot soapy water/vinegar, and then turn the seat upside down and rest it on top of the bowl with the straps hanging in the water and let it soak for an hour or so. Hopefully that makes sense!
