but can we just appreciate that she said 'talk to your pediatrician, I am just someone on the internet'? like, we stan someone who doesn't disregard medical degrees!
You really dont need much babe. The baby warmers and things like that... The convenience products.... Ended up being a waste of money. I did Everything basically hands on. I'm an old school mum so I guess I don't mind sucking snott and spitting it our if it means my baby can breathe. I bought both expresses... For boobies Milk. It was OK. I suppose.... The machines are helpful when you're tired. Hwoeveer I exclusively breast fed till 8 months... I reckon buy as you go babe. Diapers. Every baby is different. I don't use Huggies as they five my baby rashes. I use baby love or mamia from aldi... Hope that helps :)
😄 by shopping and browsing baby stuff and observing body changes. Look at yourself in the mirror n take selfies. I enjoy all my pregnancies with some complaints too 🙈 I’m expecting my 4th one and still planning how will I setup a nursery all over again since it’s 8 years apart and I have nothing from previous kids haha I absolutely love babies 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Awhh how's life mumma? Same, I'm actual scared gotta still go to the doctor's I've taken 4 tests and they've all came back positive eeeek and I'm watching everything going crazy, I'm so scared 😭😭 ahhaa
I felt so unprepared when having my baby because I didn’t have most of the things on all the internet lists, but honestly, tiny kiddos don’t need that much. Sometimes it’s better to feel out the relationship and the baby before buying a lot of the stuff for babies.
I’m so sorry that your feeling like that, when I had my first baby I also didn’t had much, so trust me, it is not necessary, your baby needs love more than anything else and I’m sure you will do great! 💛
All you really need is a safe place to sleep, stuff for hygiene/health, diapers/wipes, clothes, a car seat/stroller, and bottles and formula if your not breastfeeding. Everything else are just things that either are really helpful(but not needed), or a big fat waste of money.
I definitely regret a lot of things that were purchased. So much wasted money by myself and family, which is unfortunate. Never used his bassinet, crib, or his swing much. The only thing we really needed was his pack and play that came with a bouncer that he pretty much lived in for the first 9 months of life lol
I totally feel you!! The amount of money that got wasted with our first, I've definitely been more picky this time. But I understand the pressure you feel.. People make it sound like you can't live without certain items
I didn’t buy a diaper bag... I ended up using a horrible purse my husband gifted to me in Christmas 2015 and it’s all good... He even got emotional because I told him that I was saving it brand new to carry our baby stuff when In reality I hated it 😂 If you’re giving birth to Kate moss 😂😂😂😂😂 I recently found your channel and you’re so much fun!
Yes! I don’t understand the baby bag thing. I have a ton of useful backpacks and totes so…why do I need to get a new diaper bag? Thanks for the sharing!
Almost 14 weeks pregnant and first time momma! I started watching your videos when my husband and I were trying to conceive back in May and have been addicted ever since!! Please do the baby must haves video next!!
Watching your videos give me so much hope that I’ll be able to be a parent. First time mom here, 31 weeks pregnant, and feeling overwhelmed. I know there have to be hiccups, but seriously you help ease my anxiety so much with your positivity! Thanks mama!
I totally agree with Brittany. Before my 1st, my husband and I had never even changed a diaper. You will find your groove and what works for you two. Just remember, you are not alone. We are all here to support one another.
Nancy Silver Thank you so much, really means a lot. It’s been a really tough pregnancy to say the least, just counting down the days till I get to meet my baby now.
I LOVE the oogiebear & haven’t used the nosefrida once (baby is almost 9 mos old). It never ceases to amaze me how ppl can have such differing opinions. But it doesn’t surprise me because not only are parents different (have different preferences, etc), but babies are different too! I love when parents say “oh this worked on my first, but not me second.” It’s so crazy
I absolutely LOVE my bottle warmer. I use it all day everyday.. it warms the bottle so fast, even with my milk in it... Putting the bottle in the cup does not heat it up nearly fast enough especially when my milk has to come out of the fridge. Other than that, totally agree!
When baby's awake and crying for milk in the middle of the night, you don't wanna wait 10 or more minutes for that bottle to warm up in a mug. I LOVE my bottle warmer that heats up the bottle in less than 2 minutes. Way less crying for baby and less stress for mama.
I clicked on this video just expecting to get more informed on the cons of products but I LOVE that you took the time to say why you didnt like it and offer a better options! Thank you so much!!
Its like a babyshop basically (i live in south africa and our places like Baby City or Babier R ua etc) have registeries i know places like walmart and target also have and Amazon.... But its a list you create basically for your babyshower and then you have a code with thay code people can log on see what you want and go and buy what you want for your baby and if you for example has a Set Nuk bottels on the list and someine buys that the item gets removed from the list so people dont buy double unless you marked you want 2 items
I’m planning to raise our baby the good old minimalist way while my partner is fussing over whether or not the baby gets the best support and nuture. All of those things you listed on the list is basically in our registry right now. I’ll make sure my partner watch this video 😂 Thank you very much! ❤️
I appreciate how you mentioned the pros and cons of the different items. I also like how you put the alternatives that you like better. This was so helpful thank you
3 years later after having my daughter and I can literally agree with all BUT solly baby gown - our daughter loved in it and her legs were super long so tied gown provided enough room for her. And camera - we have Cubo Ai and use it till today. It helped ease anxiety, back track when my daughter climbed out of her crib and didn't have to constantly think about recharging it. Notifications were great too. For recommendations - they have 2 in 1 wifi and wifi free monitors with dual use at Amazon that I would highly recommend!
Thoroughly enjoyed! I adore the honesty you offered when it comes to pricing vs aesthetic. As a newish mom I purchased based on looks but soon learn that babies grow fast and more than likely you use items twice. So, thank you girlee!
The boppy isn't just for breastfeeding though. I'm not feeding that way but have always worked daycare and nannied and we use the boppy for support for tummy time, sitting up, for me when i get a back massage so i can put my face through it at home. It's really multifunctional and a great cost! And you'll use it for like 2 years.
Hey Brittany, we use one of our old tablets for the baby monitor since we ran into the same issue with always being on our phones while the baby slept. It works great. :)
Agreed! I also plan on using my iPad as a monitor, though you could also use an old tablet, laptop, or even an amazon show instead of your phone. Just wondering if that was the ONLY reason you regret your Nanit baby camera? My husband likes the idea of the nanit, but I don’t love the price. Do you possibly have another video where you reviewed the nanit?
I’m 19 & 5 months pregnant with TWINSS, I’m literally watching so many videos to prepare myself 😩 im literally so nervous and overwhelmed and excited at the same time
Completely agree with the mittens and socks. They always fall off and get lost. I’m currently pregnant with my 4th and I’m due the day before Halloween 🎃 I’ve just been buying baby girl the zip up footie jammies with fold over mittens since it’ll be cold out. Life savers 🙌🏼
Your criticism of the Boppy original pillow is why I went for the Boppy Best Latch pillow, which also has a firm surface to place baby on. I can feed my son hands-free on it and it's a great choice if you want something a bit less bulky around the back than the My Brest Friend.
If you have an old phone you’re not using, use it as a baby “monitor!” We were given a Nest camera, but preferred to have a separate device for our monitor and this has worked well for us. We put a popsocket on the back to use as a stand and the old phone just connects to the Nest via wifi et voila!
Sorry for all my comments loll. But yessss. I have the boppy and brestfriend pillow too and while the boppy is easier to put on and take off, the brestfriend one is just way more comfortable and sturdy. And I love that it has back support
More of a PSA: The BabyBjörn is fine for the spine and hips, especially in the lowest position. My baby sat in it from around 5 weeks (basically once his head was fairly stable). I'm not sure about the Graco swing. But that's just a thing to be aware of. I also personally prefer it because my baby will eventually learn to bounce himself instead of relying on the mechanism. Also, you can get them used for way less than 200 dollars and you can resell it for as much as you bought it for if it's in an acceptable condition :)
Please at least try the Babybjorn bouncer! At 3 months my daughter was obsessed! Now she bounces herself (which is amazing motor skills its designed for!) and i can bring everywhere around the house or to grandmas house, park etc! Also they can use until they are about 2 years old!!!! Ugh love
You may end up liking the boppy pillow in the future. I use mine behind my daughter when she was learning how to sit up. It kept her from hitting her head when she fell backwards. Later she used it when she watched TV.
I love the baby carrier. I used it all the time, different brand but same thing. My baby loves to be in there. Best thing ever.. all babies are different 😊
We used the nose frida until my daughter was old enough to recognize it and started freaking out because she anticipated what was about to happen. Then the Oogiebear entered the chat.
You are by far one of my fav people I’ve stumbled upon on RU-vid... I’m 10 weeks pregnant with my first and you are just so real and open and positive and I just really needed your energy❤️
I'm someone that hates clutter. When I was trying to organize my son's closet I counted every baby blanket/recieving blanket that we have for him... 27 blankets. 98% were gifted to us. Now I'm pregnant with our second boy and I'm trying to gently let people know we don't want any blankets but my husband's grandma is like 'well he needs his OWN blankets. I'm not missing out on making a great grand baby blanket!' Smh
My advice about the baby monitor camera is getting a simple baby sound only monitor aswell. This combo is my absolute favorite (mom of 2 kids). I use the camera (Arlo) to check on him, then I use the normal monitor to be on the whole time.
I do agree with this list My list of no go items: Honest diapers Bottle warmers Wipe warmers Bouncer (my baby liked a swing instead) Dr browns bottles ( I recommend como tomo and tommee tippee) Don’t buy blankets (everyone and their mama will give you blankets. I have like 20 and you really don’t need that many) Mittens (never used them. I filed her nails instead) Boppy feeding pillow (brest friend pillow is so much more functional)
Oh sweetie no...you literally spent HUNDREDS of dollars on baby stuff....when my sister's baby was perfectly fine and happy with just a baby bounce chair...we were so poor but the baby didn't care or notice...to all new moms please don't let a society convince you that you need all these unnecessary things...all baby needs is diapers wipes and a safe place to sleep and sit...ofcourse clothes and food
If you can afford it and you want it, get it. To each their own. We were dirt poor growing up so my parents just had the basics but some of the things I’m putting on my registry now, my mom says she wishes she had for her own peace of mind.
@@jovanazaric2343 There are must haves and nice to haves! Don’t feel bad about only having the basics. You really need to meet baby first! ❤️ Then you can pick up extra stuff but don’t worry ahead of time.
@@nanaronhano337 Thank you ❤️ Must have we have 😀 But ofc as every parent you want to be able to afford everything but it's hard especially with this stupid pandemic situations.
@@jovanazaric2343 For sure. I’m about 18 weeks with my second and we definitely got tons of hand me down clothes for number 1. Craigslist is great too for baby furniture.
I'm due in 18 days, and your videos are incredibly helpful! I've gotten a lot of things you've recommended in the past, so this video is great. Thank you! I've also gotten a ton of ppl telling me that socks don't work when they're that little, so I plan on getting the velcro booties to keep her tiny feet warm on colder days. Hopefully those work!
First time mom with a 4 month old. The halo sleep sack has been amazing and bottle warmer I use every single time we feed. Also muslin swaddle blankets are essential! I do agree the Solly is whatever/skippable, I have never tried Honest diapers yet but I do appreciate diapers with the wetness indicator. You didn’t mention MagneticMe onesies but these are bomb. Definitely recommend these to every mom.
So glad I found your channel!!! I’m getting induced 10 days! And I was soooo desperately looking for a mom who’s modern, and young, but still very responsible and a good mother, to get tips from!! Thank you!!
Wow this just really comes to show how every mom and baby is so different!! I love and couldn’t live without many of the things you mentioned but I do agree with you on the changing mat and pillow!
And a tip with the knitted gowns , slide them over the legs and over the shoulders then put the arms through . It avoids going over the head and dealing with all the length :)
That's why I went with boppy, my breast friend is much better for just breastfeeding but that's it, and I'm still using boppy after 2 years. I also have travel inflatable my breast friend pillow
Now my lo is sitting so I toss it behind him so I can pretend he will land on that if he throws himself backwards, spoiler he never does,he always topples forwards 😂
As a mother of four, get the open gowns. I also cloth diaper, so they give more room there as well, but at night just pulling up is soooooooo much easier than getting feet into a sleeper. Also, as far as a boppy goes, there are a few other brands that are super cute that are firm! ErgoBaby makes a cute one!
I felt the same way! 😂 I was like “what?! I love that item!” And the point of Honest is NO chemicals so it’s not supposed to have that line because that’s due to a chemical.
I’ve have three babies and with my most recent one (June 2020) I finally decided to try Boppy and I like it! It’s so versatile and I love the cute covers!
I think it is very good that you make these videos, it helps to see the experience of other moms, I'm not even pregnant yet but I will consider your advice for when I become a mom 💛💛
I have two kids, toddler and baby but still watched your video which was honest and super cute BUT I must say your little one is gorgeous! Congrats mama.
I love the diaper changer Mat! I use my diaper bag as a purse too so if hubby wants to change the beeb he can take the mat and have everything is with it and doesn’t have to take the whole bag
Exactly!!!! I LOVE my skiphop changing mat... It buy it for every person I know having a baby. Who wants to carry their whole diaper bag everywhere they go? And like you said, than your partner can just take the little diaper changer instead of taking your whole bag to the restroom. Especially because kids are in diapers well past the age of being diaper bag dependant, so sometimes you just bring the little diaper changer into the store with you for a quick run, or to the neighbor's house and don't need to lug the whole bag!
We loved gowns and recommend them to new parents because they are so handy for overnight changes. And baby carriers come in handy when you have more than one baby/little, but I never liked the wraps. They took too long to get on and off.
Thank you. My back was aching very badly. There was a knot in my lower back for the past week that would not leave no matter how many stretches I did. But your video helped put. Thank you.
Yeah, the chamomile tea didn't work but the gripe water worked almost immediately. I agree about the nightgowns, also the snap front undershirts are easy too. I also use the baby the baby wrap all the time in and out of the house.
The fawn diaper bag was the gift to myself and I love that it’s big! I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. My mom also loves it so trips to Gigi’s will keep her stylish too! I don’t pack light so I’m still happy with the purchase lol
I love my Fawn as well! I've had it for 2 1/2 years and will be using for baby #4! She could've gotten the smaller one if she thought it was too big 🤷♀️
Omg I love you! You said it best! I agree with all of your regrets! I have a 13 month old and I by far didn’t use these things or used the options you mentioned instead. Huggies are the best & camomile over gripe or gas drops was such a better and natural option. Love you! keep the baby videos coming!
J they don’t have the color changing line but I personally don’t think it’s necessary. Cool feature for sure but once you get used to it, you can feel when your baby has a wet diaper.
Yep!! The Brest friend is awesome, but I need to speak to whoever is in charge of the covers. Hideous. Honestly Brest friend needs to Collab with me on a cover design.
The boppy is great when a baby want to sit and can hold there bottle themselves. Love that you just breast feed on camera and kept going. Mommy multi tasker
Every parent and baby is different. I can't relate with half of these. Socks, boppy, certain hats, Velcro swaddles, baby camera ( got a $20 one), cotton footed sleepers (you just have to get bigger ones),baby bjorn were a must for me with my little one. I used all these at least until 6 months. The rest of the stuff in can definitely agree with.
Brittany Balyn with my daughter we only bought 1 blanket. She’s 6 now and is still crazy attached to it. But as a baby we spent many nights washing it in the sink when she got sick all over it or spilled on it. She still refuses to sleep without it. I’m 36 weeks pregnant with our son and we already have 4 of them same blanket so we just change it out and he has no idea 😂
I remember as a teen watching your videos where youd make a video about coloring your hair a crazy color, go get a piercing and outfit ideas! And to basically being a mom, and im a mom too.. i love it 🥺❤️
I died laughing when you mentioned the baby blankets 🤣 you are so right.. we have stacks of baby blankets that everyone bought or made for our little one. So many we haven't even had a chance to use them all and she's 2 now!
TRUTH! I totally agree with everything you say! Having my 2nd now after a 5 year hiatus and definitely super helpful to be reminded of what NOT TO DO! Thank you!
Ooooh baby girl is just so darn cute!!! Loved this video! My baby won’t be here until October but I’ve been binge watching your videos, all very helpful🤗
On the Nanit camera you can press the speaker icon to put the camera into “Background audio on”. While that mode is on you can hear what’s going on with your baby even when using phone to watch videos and not directly using the Nanit app.
It's so funny because I never bought baby blankets with my first cause I assumed we were going to get a million at our baby shower and we never got a single one! I ended up buying a bunch myself after he was born lol
This is why I refused to buy any baby items before my baby shower. I ended up with a closet full of clothes and more. We only bought the crib since family and friends gifted the changing table and car seat/stroller bundle. Baby registry highly recommended and also talk to other moms with experience to know exactly what you will need. And of course, watch RU-vid videos like this one 😁
I remember someone trying to convince me to buy that bouncer. The price immediately turned me away from it and she kept saying "oh no it's really worth it better then any other bouncer ect" I ignored her and used my second hand brightstarts bouncer that i baught for £5 with no regrets as it works fine.
A very thoughtful list.... I completely agree with most of your points, but differ on a couple. The Boogiebear has actually been great as our child has gotten older because nowadays he tends to get boogers that are more solid. It's quicker and easier in my experience to get these out with the Boogiebear. Also, the Skip Hop changing pad is excellent if you keep extra diapers, etc. in the car like we do.... just in case you run out of what's in the diaper bag or you grab the baby to go somewhere and forget the diaper bag.
I never thought I would want a camera monitor but I honestly want one so bad now! Lol BUT I’ve also heard the ones that connect to phones / Other devices are easier for people to hack and watch/talk to your children and that creeps me out!! 🙈😬
I got a camera monitor for our second (just a regular, not a wifi or anything) and it is so much better! I wish we had it for our first. Go for the camera monitor!
We use a security camera that is set up that you can only look at it through a secure app and only if you are on a certain encrypted server my husband set up. (It helps that he is a software engineer lol). We just use an old tablet we had laying around for normal monitoring, but can also pull it up on our phones too. Plus it was way cheaper than most baby monitors on the market.
What a cutie!! I agree with you about bouncers/ swings etc. It’s so hard to know what they will like, my daughter practically lived in the swing and wouldn’t tolerate a bouncer. I was lucky to be able to borrow these items and try them without forking out the money
I think everyone is different . Everyone who does these should be ,what didn’t work for me . The oogiebear I use in par with qtip , it’s only when you see one little booger not snot. I have both lol .
I could watch you all day 😊 . Socks do get lost all the time 😂 ., it’s almost as if the dryer just stores them in a secret department!!. I have 2 boys so I’m constantly buying socks . The nose sucker is my favorite!!! Gets so much out when baby has a cold
OMG I am due in 6 days and I’ve watched hundreds of RU-vid videos, this was by far the most honest and helpful!!! I loved every moment, thanks for your honesty, you definitely just saved this first time mama some money 😩💙
Logan and lenora change mats are the best, good size, waterproof, and machine washable. Gathre mats is leather so you can’t put it in the washing machine, you can only wash it with a sponge so it doesn’t seem that clean but I guess you could spray a nontoxic disinfectant
I'm due in 4 weeks so this video was super helpful thank you! We've brought a cheap(ish) tablet to go with the nanit to use it as a screen monitor ♡hope this helps
Totally agree about the skip hop changer! I never use the extra pouches for all that extra stuff since its already in the diaper bag. Not to mentioned folding it back up while holding a baby is kind of a pain too. I also hated the boppy pillow...but mostly because the hole is so small its hard to get around your waist. Not super functional. Love your video!!
Pregnant with baby #3 never used a baby rocker, bouncer, walker, breastfeeding pillow, bottle warmer, wipe warmer, diaper genie, diaper pail, baby camera, baby monitor, any fancy snot remover, snot wipes. Did use baby knitted shoes, mittens and hats because we where in a cold winter area. Carriers I had one fabric one for home and one more sturdy for outdoors(we do hiking often).
Huggies all the way!! I'm not a mother but I work in crèche (what we call daycare/early years services in Ireland) I find huggies keep everything in if you know what I mean. We don't have Honest nappies (diapers) here but there designs are cute. Ps your little lady is gorgeous and I can't get over how big she's getting.
@Jailene Ramos huggies don't give rashes no nappies/diapers give rashes. Nappies/diapers rashes is cause by a infant's teething, their diet, their pee and bowel movements and how long a infant is left in a dirty nappy/diapers.
@Jailene Ramos I'm just stating the facts I'm not judging you or telling you how to raise your babies, you knows what works for your kids and your right every child is different and every infant, toddler and adults get rashes.
@Jailene Ramos ohh no have found a good brand for the kids? I know from past experiences with kids of some family members and parents at work they would use natural cloth nappies whenever their children had very bad skin rashes from using normal nappies.
@Jailene Ramos that's good. We don't have parent choice here, we have pampers, huggies and store brand nappies but there all products are different in every country. You can try a cloth one any age but it's messy when their toddlers.
