I love how strongly Rob Blake has gotten into your psyche. Last ten or fifteen episodes have all been indirect jabs at Blake hahaha. Either that said, you have done a good job at making your case and explained and shed light on why you feel that way. Thank you so much for your hard work and for giving us great kings content to watch every few days!

Eddie I agree with you on all contracts BUT Disagree with the Doughty contract! I know $11Mill is a lot of money but Drew has been Kings best defenceman and has produced very steadily year in and year out doing better than most top Dmen in the league and last year had almost identical points as Erik Karlsson who makes more $11.5Mill a year and both are same age same position but The biggest difference is Drew is the most pure and passionate Kings player in history and deserves every penny for everything he has done and still doing for the Kings!

Drew did get Norris votes last year. The problem is that people only notice the Hughes, Makar, Fox type of players who dazzle on the offensive end. And on top of that, they play on teams with plenty of other talent that contributes to their numbers. If out of the four defensemen mentioned here, which of them would you most want to go against McDavid or Matthews or someone like that? I'm picking Drew. The man knows and takes absolute pride in playing defense, and I'm sure Drew would be juat as happy keeping so-and-so off the scoreboard as he would love a game winning goal. DD8's contract gets a thumbs up from me. Let's also not forget the type of person and leader you need on the ice to win. That also is an intangible worth paying for.

DD is the main defensive shield for LA. Nobody on the team is nearly as solid on defense and going off the numbers how long has it been since a Kings defenseman played an entire season and outscored him? Everybody wants the sexy elite but there are only a few in the league that are more complete offensively and defensively than DD.

If we get another top 6 forward and a top 4 defender we could contend for the cup , I think it’s worth it to cap out and go for it this year , kuemper could rise again and the youth could emerge

Skills can get you into the playoffs, but grit thrives on the playoffs.

I actually like the line pairings (specifically the duos) Fiala/Byfield, Danault/Moore, Kopi/Kempe, and then filling out the rest. They added some grit and tenacity and will happily take foegele and jeannot over dubois, especially if they can get on pucks. I think if dubois had moore or byfields engine (regardless if he was putting up points) he probably wouldve stuck around, but he often spent too much time floating and not impacting the play. I expect the lines to be more balanced and dont be surprised if our top guys pop the fuck off this season. GKG!

Sadly I think Trevor Lewis is going to start. I see hiller as that coach that play veterans but new guys can sit out. if Lewis plays we easily won’t do good

Lewis is still one of the faster players on the team clocking in at over 21 mph. He also has a lot of veteran experience. He is not taking anyone's spot. The Kings have opened up 2 4rth line positions by subtracting Lizotte and Grundstrom. Lewis keeps his spot. Not takes a younger players spot on the roster. And we are going to need his mentoring with the young forwards coming in.

Some context on Lewis he didn't play 82 games last season because he was the best player available he played 82 games because he was the best at his job and to be honest he's probably still the best penalty killer on the team

Decent assessment, with one caveat being: Kuemper's contract needs to be seen partly as a dividend of PLD's contract otherwise kept. We would have kept and been paying perhaps 2 million a year to get rid of the PLD contract, likely. Also, Eddie, you just can't stop the Blake hate. The assessment looked too good for Blake, so you had to finish by unnecessarily pulling him down as your last point. No GM makes all perfect moves. Get off it already.
