Robertson 4th on the Leafs in 5v5 P/P60 last year. He was #2 at 5v5 goals per 60 as well. That's addressing a need, which is finishing ability and top-six wing scoring. This is quite a good idea from Kelsey, at a time where the market is already very thin for offensive producers. 22 years old. Can control his rights and trade him later. Get back what you paid, probably. I'm just not clear on what the price would be, both in picks and in AAV. Not too familiar with offer sheet protocols.
My hope for this season is that Quinn is able to fix the two biggest issues from the last two seasons. Obviously, the power play, but also the poor play of the defensemen in front of the goaltenders...Letang's defensive zone turnovers, no one making an effort to clear the net front, and both defensemen getting trapped behind the net...for starters.
2 weeks ago i would have said this is a 5th to 6th place team in metro. With cody glass coming in, this team could finish 3rd. Carolina lost a lot this offseason, the capitals are better then penguins on paper but the penguins were better then them on paper last season and you saw what happened. If glass can get to his form from 22-23 season, he will be a weapon in bottom 6. His 35 points that season would have been top point getter in pens bottom 6. If hayes can get back to his form from 2 seasons ago, would help bottom 6. Beauvillier, hayes and glass is sounding like a decent line the more i think about it. Lizotte, eller and acciari will be 4th line most likely unless puljujarvi takes acciari's spot. Eller good 2 way play, lizotte bringing the energy and forechecking and acciari being able to lower the boom on the wing. Im not soo sure hayes may end up on crosby's wing by season's end. A net front presence on that line and hayes is actually a pretty decent playmaker. I feel better about this team then i did before glass trade. It wouldn't surprise me if they finish 3rd but wouldn't surprise me if they finish 6th if crosby or malkin gets hurt. This season will be fun either way with some more youth and energy in bottom 6
Glass averaged almost 15 mins a night and 61% O-zone starts when he got 35 points. Context is important. What will Sullivan give him? He barely gave Puustinen over 11 mins when his scoring was top 5 on the team in 5v5 P/P60. Only way Glass gets Nashville-like usage is if there's an injury in the top-six, he gets chosen to fill in and does a great job there. Otherwise it's probably like just over 10 mins and 60% D-zone starts. Possibly a PP2 fixture, I guess. Sullivan's not gonna use him to shut other teams down late in games or on the PK.
This team will go the way their goaltending takes them. Jarry is mediocre at best and the trade market knows it. He's way overpaid. Hopefully Ned had a breakout season not a career year. They do have 2 very intriguing prospects in the minors so when Jarry starts his annual slide, they do have replacements.
Wait, we had off-season moves?? 🤔 Lol, jk...A handful of depth moves, jettisoning Smith's contract, and 3 third line players, idk...Hayes and Beau are looking to improve to at least an average level, and nobody sees Gryz filling P.O's skates. So, I want to be positive, but I think the playoffs are doubtful. It's all about how much of the team Sid can carry again unfortunately.
Lifting up P.O Joseph of all players in order to frame your narrative... That's too much a stretch. I can't suspend my disbelief that much. The fate of the team is uncertain but what a dishonest way to be pessimistic. Also not mentioning Lizotte or Glass because it's inconvenient for the melodrama
