Galvanized metal, like on the roof here, has a layer of oxidization that prevents if from rusting or oxidizing further. Any strong oxidizer will remove the galvanized layer and expose the bare metal underneath. Wherever you use this, the tag will be permanent, so choose wisely.
one of the first actual reviews and use of rust ink, we all appreciate it wek... this stuff destroys the nib after about 2-3 days, so anyone using keep in mind, buy some ectra nibs. you can achieve this same affect by using high strength ferric chloride btw, which is much cheaper than mefians.
you also must choose your spots wisely when using rust ink, a clean metal surface that will get chemically buffed, rather than painted over. the rust ink gives a slight ghost through the paint after some time, though
also, this ink oxididizes and reacts differently to different types of metal, for example at 7:40, writing on aluminium gives a light, cloudy, crystal, ghost-looking tag, and ive experienced the ink changing colors to green, black or crystallized white. cool stuff👍
@@zehno3721 Pretty sure this is a pretty "light" mix of chemicals seeing there are ones with (allegedly) have shit like battery acid to make it more aggressive. He has done rust review few years back btw from a different maker. This ink costs like 15 eu so I'm not sure if that's easily to beat buying something else but what do i know (answer: fuck all). Also read here and there is you throw lysol on this shit that it will burn white but I don't think that's the case with the lesser aggressive ones.
@@dalazo yeah, im pretty sure mefians has the highest concentration of iron oxide compared to other ferric chloride mixtures, but in my experience, its not worth the price for me, especially being in the US with 30$ shipping. ive found 500ml bottles for like 10-20$ online and the 5% concentration works well, but id like to learn what else mefians adds, ive heard oven cleaner can also leave nasty corrosion
i bough ferrid 3 chloride some days ago after trying liquid rust, but could only get my hands on a 40% solution... im gonna be back and tell how it went
for anyone wondering what the chemical could be: i compared iron 3 chloride (40% solution) to mefians rust ink. looks almost the same, smells similar, but could be different. mefians might have added something. the result after 10mins: pure seems to darken up a bit more. will update after some days. unfoirtunately i cant post link to picture on yt... but: iron 3 chloride definitely works!
@@koukutus3272 on most metals, yes. they might have added some other chemicals to make it more versatile, but the basic corrosive effect can easily be achieved with iron 3 chloride. its the same reaction and as permanent plus, as you mentioned, much cheaper. now i have almost one liter left to use haha
Pour two cups of hydrogen peroxide, 4 table spoons of white vinegar and one and a half teaspoon of salt into the mop. It will rust everything it touches immediately so it is very hard to buff. Impossible actually
Be careful doing this, as it can produce heat, not to mention the resulting acid from mixing vinegar and peroxide is very dangerous if uou get it in your eyes or on your skin. Wear gloves, use eye protection if you decide to go this route.
Have you tried the JETSHIT line of inks yet? Their metal rust and glass etch are absolute KILLER, would love to see your thoughts on their inks in a future video!!
i modified a marker by using wide a rubber band and binding it tight with yarn around the bottom of the release valve. now the rubber pushes the release back in and enough ink gets through still. the marker works like a charm now, if anyone wants to try.
when the mop gets like that all u gotta do is push down on the nib actuator and kinda squeeze the edges of where the bottle is squeezed in and you'll get air back into it and back to it's original shape.....

Алюминий бы вообще не заржавел (скорее всего), в его составе сразу "плёнка" есть которая образуется от взаимодействия алюминия с кислородом... Вот такой я умный тут прославился)))
Pro Tip to save money: Ferric chloride is the chemical these companies use for their rust inks. Mefians, Brew Ink, Jetshit, Oslo Rust, Devastator, etc. It usually appears to just be ferric chloride solution with possible additives. But it's the ferric chloride doing the heavy lifting. You can buy a 16 fl oz bottle of it on Amazon which ends up being a much better deal. You will see it is a bottle of brown liquid identical to what's being sold by these graff brands. Because the acid is going to eat up the nib & warp the mop very quickly, you should buy a pack of empty mops on Amazon as well. You will need extra mops & nibs if you use any kind of etch. It's best to use up the whole mop in one bombing session for this reason. Unlike glass etch which you can just wash off your hands with water, this stuff will burn you. Don't mess with it unless you already have experience handling glass etch would be my advice as it has similar properties but is much much more caustic.
