This is very true... As a person who comes from a long line of military blood lines... Patriotism for the free world - The United States of America, a country that is supposed to instill the belief that everyone should be free and not have government tell them what to do, how they should live and where they should be... It's a very powerful thing. We must protect and defend that. We must not let anyone strip away any freedoms that we have fought for and ancestors died for. It would be a disgraceful thing to turn away from the facts and let our country be turned into something that it was fighting against at its conception.

This actually happened during the War of 1812. We were already an independent country. The British invaded to try to regain control.
@timmethy
@timmethy 18 дней назад
The British were at full scale war with Napoleon's France. Britain didn't want the US trading with France and also they took sailors from American ships and impressed them into the Royal Navy claiming the sailors were from Britain and had gone to the US to avoid service. America had no navy to match the Royal Navy and there was a feeling of humiliation in the US. A group of representatives in Congress decided that if they couldn't beat the British at sea they could beat them on land and so they pushed for an invasion of Canada which is how the war started.
@erichammond9308
@erichammond9308 15 дней назад
Britain had no intention or desire to reclaim the US as colonies. The US started the War of 1812 and invaded Canada. Britain just wanted to end an annoying backwater skirmish because they were dealing with a war against a much more powerful Napoleonic France. The orders to Vice Admiral Sir Alexander Cochran stated "attack cities and towns along the coast to force a return to negotiations and a return to status quo antebellum". Status quo antebellum means as it was before the war and the US had been recognized by England as a sovereign country for 29 years before the war. I especially love the part where the narrator calls the war protracted (long) and vicious - when it only lasted 2 years and resulted in fewer total casualties than the British alone suffered in a single day at Waterloo in 1815. This whole video is complete garbage.

@bluflaam777
@bluflaam777 Месяц назад
According to the Flag Code, the American flag should not touch anything beneath it, including the ground. This rule is in place to emphasize the importance of handling the flag with care and to protect it from getting soiled or damaged. It is a symbol of our nation and should be treated with the utmost respect. The flag didn't get raised until after the bombardment was over. It was a large flag and at that moment, it was a symbol of victory. Even after 25 hours of shelling, the fort stood.
@goatitisful
@goatitisful 10 дней назад
@@curtisw502That's been true for a few thousand years. But the reason America doesn't let out flag touch the ground to this day is because of this story. What you said is 100% true, but that was about battle, and medieval politics. Many modern countries literally lower their flag to the ground before folding it. Many countries have no problem with their flag touching the ground.

Im,an American who has had a deep love of our early history all my life. This incident took place during the war of 1812. In 1776 Ameica declared its independence from England. Once America gained its independence after the war in 1782, the British Empire tried to conquer its former colonies. In 1812 they sent a huge fleet and invaded. They waged war, burned and pillaged as they went..... including the president's residence ( which after the war got rebuilt and painted white to cover up the scorch marks..... and that's why it's called the White House today) The bombardment of Fort Henry is just on of the AMAZING stories that come from our history. The deeply touches my heart to see a father teaching his son such values to a son who obviously sees his father as a hero ❤ And now you understand why some Americans hold our flag in such reverence and why we are the way we are❤

Thanks for your reaction. Many people and Countries don’t understand what our flag means to us. We display them on our homes and all across America. Eventually, Our 13 colonies defeated the British and we now celebrate our Independence Day every July 4th.

I love your family's appreciation and respect you give our country. You take the time to learn and understand, when so many others don't. Thats wonderful and it doesn't go unnoticed. Your son is so sweet and considerate. You're raising a good kid, both of them. Never change you guys. You're great people! Love from USA (Wisconsin) 🇺🇲

Although the Star Spangled Banner is uniquely an American anthem, it is all of humanity's anthem. America has taken in more immigrants than any country at any time in history. America has sacrificed more of its people for the benefit of others, than any country throughout history. America has spent more money, provided more food, medicine, technology, freed more enslaved people, and raised more people out of poverty than any nation in all of human history. America has fought more wars for the benefit of other nations than any country throughout history. The Star Spangled Banner is not just an American anthem, it's all freedom loving people's anthem. That said, you should always enter legally and not just run across the border, like is currently going on.

Hello Family! In my grade school in the 60s and High school in the early 70s we were basically taught that Francis Scott Key pened the anthem during the battle. I too, have always loved history. I was a member of the Yorkers in Junior High and High School. During my tenure in the US Army, the first part I served as a Bandsman. I auditioned at West Point while in college. Then, they thought I went crazy and I volunteered for the M1 Tank when it first came out. This time of year, I think of all the countless Chains of Commands played, Burials I played taps. To this day there are recordings of the very high visibility ones. The Ceremonies for all occasions, Played for 2 sitting Presidents and the Iranian Hostages. The Anthem always chokes me up. I think of all that was willing to give some and most importantly those who gave all. This is what the Anthem means to me. Now, an old Patroit. Loved the reaction. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. 🍻❤️🌹🤘🎺

So many words were cut out of Francis Scott Keys' original National Anthem poem. But that line @ the end "The debt was damanded demanded. The price, it was paid" I wish that line was still in the anthem. That sums the whole thing up in 1 line.

Francis Scott Keye lived into his late 70's and was a signature on the Declaration of Independence. That man gave the USA it's soul.

Francis Scott Key died at the age of 63 and I doubt he signed the Declaration of Independence because he was born 3 years after it was signed

The key points in the story he tells is basically accurate. It's the story I was told as a kid, and it explains why Americans are very touchy about our homeland, our boats, our people, and the flag that represents the ideals we all stand for. If you want more in-depth historical stories I recommend The Fat Electrition he is very good story teller and dose a lot of research. My favorite ones are The Barberey Wars (Potential), Operation Praying Mantis (Proportional), and World War Tree (Appropriate). Hope you enjoy and try not to laugh as you learn. (Big thing with him is you have to watch all the video without skipping and the way until the end 😂).

⁰American people have fought bravely for everything they have. They're the first to step forward to help oppressed peoples world wide. All branches of America's armed forces is volunteers, where other countries coerce their people to fight. So yes we are proud.

I fly the flag outside my house. It was rags and tatters. I didn't throw it away, I took it down, folded in and put it in a display glass case and it never touched the ground. Then I put up the new one. My heart drops when I see our great flag touching the ground

You can donate your old flag to the Boy Scouts of America and they do a ceremony and dispose of it properly (burning till nothing but ashes). All kinds of flag rules…💙🇺🇸
@merlinathrawes746
@merlinathrawes746 25 дней назад
You can take your old flag to an American Legion Post or VFW Post. Every year they have a ceremony where old, damaged flags can be RESPECTFULLY destroyed rather than be left to rot, get dirty, moldy, dusty or otherwise left in a state not respectful of the symbol that it is.

@@merlinathrawes746 Thank you for this comment. My comment about the ceremony the Boy Scouts do kept getting reported. Apparently a lot of people don’t know ALL the rules of the flag. 🇺🇸💙❤️
