Thank you so much for WATCHing my video and I hope that you check out all my other content.
I release 3 videos per week, all watch related, including reviews, first impressions and general watch related topics.
I try very hard to diversify my content. Featuring known watch brands, microbrands, Aliexpress. Some I have purchased new, others second hand.
The majority of the watches that I feature I have purchased. I buy them to enjoy, wear, have in my collection. I then also feature them on this channel.
Being a smaller channel it is challenging to cover the cost of all the watches that I buy and partly because of this I have become an affiliate member with a number of companies including Aliexpress and Ashford.com.
If you are looking for watches from well known brands then it is worth checking out:
www.ashford.com
If you are looking for great strap options then definitely check out:
vario.sg/
and
artemstraps.co...
As an affiliate member I may leave affiliate links in the descriptions of videos. These links will direct you to the watches that I’ve experienced, reviewed and would certainly recommend. If you choose to use those links I will earn a very small commission.
Thank you very much if you choose to use those links.
Below are affiliate links for my absolute favourite watches on Aliexpress. Each of them I have owned and had positive experiences with the stores that they are linked to.

If you end up buying the GS, there is no going back. You will be in the heady company of the uber rich and movie stars. I can see you lighting Cuban cigars with 100 dollar bills, surounded by adoring fans taking selfies so they can prove they know you. Keith and Nicole will be asking for your autograph! But seriously, my Grail Watch is the Tudor Pelagos, but alas, I totally forgot to get wealthy. I knew I forgot something. Now that I'm retired, I can only dream. Great video James!

Brilliantly described journey- my grandmother used to say “ when everything is perfect it’s still not good enough “ it’s the essence of human nature and striving for another “grail” is a great representation of this

I definitely don’t consider a grail an end watch. I don’t think there is an end watch. Hahahahaha

I stumbled across my grail watch by accident. I was trading a Hamilton with an acquaintance and saw that he had a slightly worn Omega SM Professional Chronograph from 1999. Long story short, I traded my Hamilton and another watch and some cash for that Omega. Then, I was really blown away after I sent it into Omega for a full service. That cost me US$1000. But oh man, that watch came back looking like the Crown Jewel! I absolutely love it. The colors pop, the shine is spectacular, and the James Bond bracelet is the most comfortable I've ever worn.

I think I like “unexpected grails” and “not the obvious grails” as much if not more than what I think I’m wanting.

It is interesting to look back and talk about what watches have been my grails. But even more interesting to think about the evolution of what I’ve considered a grail.

Over the years I haven’t had a grail watch per se. I had until recently been content with my affordables. The largest amount I have spent to date on any watch is $650usd. BUT I now keep finding myself switching between 2 grails. The Tudor Ranger and the Sinn 556A. I will get one of them next year, probably for my birthday.

Thank you for sharing your journey in the quest for your Grail Watch. It provides much food for thought but being on a pension the Grail is but a thing of dreams and that is one of the reasons I enjoy your videos. They hold open the possibility of a Grail while also discussing affordable watches. Well done!

It’s definitely important to look back and evaluate (and to see how far you’ve come!). When started collecting I felt that spending £500 on watch was insane… now I’ve experienced and owned Tudor, Omega and Breitling watches… 😅😅😅

A grail watch is the watch that's so beautiful, so interesting, so comfortable, that it overrides the consumerist part of my brain that always wants more. For me its the Blancpain Air Command in Titanium, but that's a far off goal.

When I started watch collecting during the early covid period, my grail was a submariner and I bought an invicta.. then, I lower the bar as then, I didn't believe I would ever purchase such an expensive watch.. so, my grail became a former essence.. then, it became a sinn 556i.. however, last year, I managed to purchase my grail which was the explorer 114270.. my next grail will be a lange 1815 in platinum which is currently out of my reach..

Grail watch is fluid. Whenever it’s achieved or purchased you have the next one. Exit watch is more fitting for the watch that ends all watch hunting. I have just bought my grail Rolex which is the current steel Daytona. Done. But o am still looking for that grail Vacheron 😜 even though I already have the Overseas. There is no end - it never stops.

That was a great video, nice to see someone elses journey so thanks for sharing your story so far. Fantastic your choice with the GS a true enthusiasts watch. Your story is similar to mine, my first 'nice' watch is also a hydroconquest and my 1st grail watch was an Omega, but like you my tastes have changed so for my grail, and I'm going for the more traditional grail ie super unaffordable which is the Blancpain aircommand in rose gold. I'd never afford one unless a big lottery win, so its a dream watch. But ive got a sugess homage to it, which i really enjoy wearing. But as you've said there's many many fantastic watches out there that are special, make you feel special and cost a fraction of the price of a traditional grail watch. I was wondering what to wear today so im going to wind up the hydroconquest and enjoy a nice special watch today. Thanks James.

I think the term “Grail watch” is misinterpreted, to me its not endgame, it’s the search for something that you’ll never find as in the mythical search for the holy grail. And as someone who considers them self a collector of sorts I can see that goal posts keep moving, I do have a “Grail” in each of my self defined categories, but even as I start to accumulate them the goal posts move, it doesn’t mean I don’t want the watches anymore, they will stay in the forever collection but it means that i can move on to the next one….. it doesn’t seem to end. Finding the grail isn’t finding the endgame watch.

I had never had a grail watch until a couple of years ago, when I saw an Oris Aquis for the first time. I just got it two weeks ago, new with a good discount. Will I have a new grail watch? I don't know; there are grail watches that you know it will be possible to acquire someday and there are ones that you surely won't be able to buy. For me, an "impossible" watch is a GS spring drive. I suppose that I will continue to buy some nice watches, longing for that GS.

Not sure I really have a grail watch, I like all watches! Though if I had to pick of one that if I had the money and it was available, no question it would be the Grand Seiko Godzilla. Have the homage, which is good enough for me. But, I can't get this damned Hruodland Turbine off my wrist. I don't like pilot/flieger watches but this one - with its steampunk vibe, theres just something about it that demands attention. I can't take it off! That 'blue' dial. Amazing. So maybe the real IWC would be my grail now? And would I be disappointed with the real thing, which used would be well over its original US $137k asking price....
