Somehow you get the sense the area still has the presence of ladies in long elegant dresses with flowered, wide brim hats and gentlemen wearing dark suits, top hats, and carrying gold tipped canes.

@R Cruz Gramercy park was never public. It was built to be private in the mid 1800s .!

Joehoe, have become very interested in the various neighborhoods in NY. your videos are so unique and really give a nice picture of the atmosphere in the neighborhoods. When I book a trip to nw I will definitely watch all the movies again. Love from the Netherlands

All cities should take note. So sick of lack of planning/ugly, cookie-cutter subdivisions. It's not a nice cookie cutter. I don't know which parts would translate; I think just think the homes are so beautiful; probably serviced by alleys? That is the way I think all subdivisions should be designed, w/alleys for garbage cans/garages/cars/storage units. That is the way I've seen iit done in other nice neighborhoods, too. That should always be code-enforced.

They can keep Gramercy. Only the residents with a key 🔑 can get in the park. It should be open to eveybody.

I'm a ' liberal ' but have no dispute with the neighborhood park being exclusive to Gramercy residents only, so long as It's privately-owned and not with public funds.... It's either one or the other. They can't have It both ways! "

the park was sued by a school of children that were thrown out of the park, they didn't live in the neighborhood, each kid got $25,000, now if the park is opened anyone can sit in the park nobody gets thrown out. the neighborhood is not any better than any other neighborhood, in fact there is Nothing to do there but sit in the park! hang out instead in the East-Village! If your young you can party all day!
