They do the Grateful Dead thing... they actually encourage you to tape and pass around/ post recordings of there shows as long as your not profiting. Such a stark contrast from so many other acts today.
@@stevebrown4432 And who ever insinuated that Billy and his band don't work their asses off? All you have to do is realize all the new tunes they bring constantly to their fans. I'm talking about covers and traditional tunes. I am constantly amazed at the number of tunes they put out.
@@jcx5659 No one. It's a general belief amongst a lot of my non musical friends that most musicians ability comes from natural talent. They don't understand that while they were hanging out at the mall Duane Allman was holed up in his garage playing guitar.
When he started making money with his music, he tracked down his stepdad's Martin D-93 guitar that he had sold to feed the family. He bought it back and gave it to him.
I've lost many guitars to the pawn shop, I was happy he got it back. Never been able to afford anything nice anyway but love to play. Love to listen to Billy Strings. Would be cool to meet him, talk about a lot things. He is very interesting. Meet me at the river. Turmoil and tinfoil my favorites
Seems like with everything he hasn’t let all this get to his head. Seems like a genuine soul. Stay grounded and true to yourself. The gift you were given is great. Keep on inspiring others and laying it down. Congrats.
I love that, he remembers where he came from, the people who inspired him and treasures those memories. Billy Strings is a class act and always will be.
Too bad Grammys are no longer an indicator of anything. Billy is so talented and entertaining. He does so deserve all the awards and success. He soars above most entertainers of today. Hopefully he can continue to do so.
Just saw him live again last night. He and the rest of the musicians give every ounce of their talent, skill, energy, & love to every moment of that incredible performance.
Mrs.mercer was my favorite music teacher as well and he's not wrong shes always been so supportive to people who want to keep on going with there music career. Just so cool to see a muir resident win something amazing congrats Billy
kudos to this amazing spirit and talent. SO GLAD he survived his childhood and that music was the thread to keep him afloat. He's a sweet soul. Thank you for helping so many!
I worked with him and his brother Aaron at the Grand Traverse Resort and the job that he had was humbling to say the least. He did it with a smile and basically all the spirit you see in him on the stage. But at the same time he was doing that job he had a goal for himself. He would get out of work and just go downtown and sit on a bench and play. Eventually he started doing some gigs in the local bars, hooked up with Don julin and basically his career took off from there. I believe he will always be humble and that is also a testament to his parents.
Well deserved, well deserved, well deserved. And the icing on the cake was seeing JT Gray give out the award for best Country Album. Glad to see Bluegrass getting some good love.
I've never been a fan of bluegrass. However, over the past few years of all my friends listening to Billy, and me watching his interviews, I have seriously reconsidered my position. What a great guy, keep it up Billy
Home, is a great album.. it’s among the best. I look forward to the band’s next project... and by they way. Thanks fir all the fine live music during COVID... it was a ballsy move and much appreciated..
Again, congrats Billy and band! Well deserved. All your hard work and persistance payed off. Stay humble and stay clean please. Please go visit your music teacher and take the Grammy along with you along with your guitar. Love and blessings from Westland Mi.
I really like you Billy, and watching the band work together really inspires this old dude! I like watching you shift gears and rock out on electric from time to time. I love it all.
He’s talking about being tired. Our band did two shows yesterday, one outdoors in the heat and noise. We were bushed! We are our own roadies too. We’re all over 60. We know what he’s talking about! We love Billy, he’s “real people”.
Congratulations Billy! Your amazing skills have been pretty obvious for awhile. I am really not surprised you got this. Just keep on keeping on. That dead poster on the wall behind your is pretty cool. Avalon is where my grandparents met. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of you.
Billy is such a polar opposite of the turds getting mass produced and pushed on the radio. He's humble and laid back which is refreshing to see. Thanks for the interview
What a down to earth and honest musician. He loves his band and they seem to love him and world class musicians all across. The Grammy was well deserved.
I first saw Billy probably 4-5 years ago in my home state ,home of bluegrass Kentucky at romp. It was a late night set, intimate to say the least. This kid blew my mind! I knew he was 100% real deal! Congrats Billy! U deserve it!!! Hope to see u live soon!
my family is really close to billy! they play bluegrass together and he's a cool dude :) my sister and i saw him a lot at bluegrass festivals our parents brought us to
Billy is 20yrs younger that me but he IS me! Grew up in the same type of town and same socioeconomic background, I also had addiction issues and his whole demeanor is go close to who I am. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who could say this. Here's to realizing that we all have so much more in common than differences.
My daddy LOVES Billy! I introducedhim to it. At first he was meh. Then the more I played for him, the more into he got. Now, there's no talk of nothing but Billy!
I wish my father could listen to Billy's band. He died about 12 years ago at the age of 87. He got into The Chambers Brothers and The Texas Tornadoes so I reckon he was game for Mr. Strings & Co.
My mom grew up in Belding, and I spent a lot of time in Ionia as a kid. Really awesome to find out that someone from that town probably went to the same galaxy bowl that I did
Thanks Billy, been listening to your shows for awhile online of course. Just love what you said at the end for the young kids to keep trying and be what you want and "to keep both hands of the wheel". best wishes
Congrats, so grateful your getting the recognition ya'll deserve! You guys work your butts off and the quality of your music shows how much you care about tradition and values. Can't imagine life without this band, you bring a smile to my face everyday when I play whatever song pops into my head and I can't help but listen again and again sometimes. Love ya'll so much! Thank you for being you
This Guy (and his band) have worked hard, from long weekends at festivals as a pick-up player(s) to the top headliner. Its dedication to something you love, and lets not forget the fans and contemporaries. The respect Billy gets from everyone is well earned. Whats more is his business model. Hours and hours of free youtube vids had built a loyal following that is willing to pay for live concerts and recording and keeps growing by leaps and bounds...and he hasn't even hit the European scene yet.
Billy Strings you are the GREATEST. KEEP ON PICKING GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR BANDPPRAYERS FROM A FRUSTRATED GUITAR PKAYER 82 Years old yoo late for me Love all the music you and your Father play together dint stop.
I discovered and followed Billy for a couple years on YT and then last year I found out I knew his folks back inna day when we were all young. I was stunned!
Congratulations Billy! Your music, your playing, your band is most inspiring. I really appreciated “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” as your opener in Schaumburg, IL July 2021! Great show! Looking forward to many more in the future! ✌🏼
met him at Red Wings Roots Festival when it ended, just about everyone had gone home except for a few of us (Billy, Don Julan, etc...lol). Humble genius is my best impression. He and Don made some damned fine magic that overcast, drizzillin rain Sunday in our beautiful Shenandoah Valley under that tent . did I mention there was free beer?
