Walt was actually very sick with lung cancer. When he called his son after leaving the doctor's office, he had the medical papers on the table stating the prognosis was bad and came with a hospital admittance forms. He ended the call before telling the son the bad news.

Correct. Calling his son just to chat was something he never did, and was totally out of character. Coughing blood means internal bleeding and is always serious.

If you don't know Clint Eastwood he's been acting since the mid 1950s and directing since the 1970s. I really like his later work like this movie, Million Dollar Baby and Letters from Iwo Jima. He has a huge catalog of movies to look at.

That medal that he gave Tao in the basement is the Silver Star, it is the second highest medal for bravery and valor that any member in the U.S. Military can be awarded, second only to the CMOH, Congressional Medal Of Honor, in the 11 years I served in the military, I personally have not met a CMOH or a Silver Star recipient and still haven't, I have met a couple of Navy Cross and Bronze Star recipients, but nothing higher than that, those are truly very difficult to get. and quite often they get awarded to one of your family members because a lot of them do not survive the action that they get the award for.

"His (Clint) most recent acting role was for the film Cry Macho (2021), which he also directed and produced for Warner Bros. Pictures." "The legendary filmmaker turned 94 on May 31, but despite now making infrequent appearances at public events, he continues to work in front of and behind the camera. He has just finished shooting what is rumored to be his final movie, Juror No. 2, still without a release date." This is one of my favorite movies. I always enjoy all of your reactions. Thank you.

Walt was neither evil nor complicated. You need to truly understand him or where he was coming from. You look at him from a modern lens and judge him by that standard rather than the one he lived his life through. I would argue that by the standard he came from, he's not even racist at all. Notice how he had no problem throwing slurs toward the barber for being Italian nor the kid on the street and the contractor for being Irish. In his generation and in the eastern US (and most of the world), you only lived next to people who were like yourself. The world was segregated during his time. The Polish lived in their neighborhood, Italian in theirs, Jewish in theirs, blacks in theirs, etc. In his time, you had to EARN respect. It wasn't just given. Also, taking offense at a slur or being thin-skinned was equivalent to being unworthy of respect for being so weak and pathetic. Sue EARNED his respect by brushing it off and was a bridge from Walt to his new neighbors and a world he never thought or imagined he would be living in (where all the white people moved out). Tao (Toad) EARNED his respect. Walt definitely willingly sacrificed himself in order to EARN or win peace for Sue and Tau. Walt and his generation would've definitely been very familiar with John 15:13... Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. That love was what Walt was made of... even before meeting his neighbors. They were just worthy, unlike his family, who failed to demonstrate proper respect for Walt and their mother/ grandmother by wearing an exposed midriff in church, wearing a football jersey to a funeral, and mocking church and religion and the attendants with that profane faux Latin prayer "spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch". It wasn't Walt being grouchy, it was his family failing to even be respectful

Still love it that even though all of the racial slurs Walt made about "Toad"..the first time he went to the gangbangers' place and kicked around that big guy (and pulled out the pistol again) - Walt said "Thao", instead. Walt already cared about the kid, he just didn't want to let him know it. Useless "car guy" stuff..Walt's old beat up pickup truck is a Ford, too. He might have been working on the line and helped bolt that one together as well.

my grandfather was a hardcore stoic Italian, he was slowly dying of leukemia or some version of cancer related to leukemia or some bs, bone cancer mb, I don't remember the details. However we found out because his arthritis was really bad and he accidentally blew a hole through his hand. They told us at the hospital he's got cancer as well. He died shortly after, he died in the winter, this happened in the fall. This story always reminds me of that situation.

Walt was dying of cancer, I don't know where you are but a medical file with a bunch of red in it means trouble, that's why he decided to die on his terms. Walt decided to sacrifice what was left to give the future a chance, and maybe show people that the ways of War complex moreover can be fought at a different level. he decided to be meritorious in death. As an aside the neighborhood where this film was shot is about 20 minutes from my house it's in Detroit,, believe it or not the film fairly accurately depicts the city

This movie is one of those that always gives you a roundhouse in the emotions. It's made all the more impactful because the character of Walt reminds me very much of my, now departed, best friend. He was Royal Artillery and, as we say, rough as a bears ar$e; but he had a giant heart. If he didn't insult you up one side and down the other then he didn't like you and, given that he had a very intimidating demeanour, that made him hard to get to know. Just like Walt. He said one time, when we were talking about life over a drink or three, that one of the reasons why we ended up being such close friends is because I wasn't afraid of him - and that came back to me watching Sue and Walt in this movie. Walt liked her because she wasn't afraid of him and gave back as good as she got in the verbal banter. Same with Toad, he went up, rather than down, in Walt's eyes when he stood up to him. Some reactors I have seen to this are too indoctrinated with the 'current thing' and don't understand what is going on with all the insults and slurs - they have forgotten that you can only truly be insulted by people whose opinion you value and 'hurty words' are not usually the thing that does it.

"What you lookin' at, old man?" "Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have fucked with? That's me." Fun Fact: Walt's dog, Daisy, is Clint Eastwood's beloved family retriever in real life. Automobile Enthusiast Fact: Ford Gran Torinos was built in Lorain, Ohio, one hundred forty-five miles from Detroit, Michigan. Walt's truck could have been built in Wayne, Michigan, twenty miles from Highland Park. Legendary Director Fact: In terms of box office, this movie is the most successful Clint Eastwood movie ever, both in the U.S. and the U.K, but not with inflation. Taking inflation into account, his most successful movies are Every Which Way But Loose (1978) and Any Which Way You Can (1980). Gun Enthusiast Fact: Walt Kowalski's (Clint Eastwood) gun collection seems to consist of weapons he used in the military. His rifle is an American M1 Garland, a nine and a half pound .30-06 gas-operated rifle. It was first issued during World War II, then re-issued in Korea before being phased out by the M14 selective fire .308 rifle. His pistol is an M1911A1, a .45 ACP semi-automatic handgun also issued during the Korean war.

Uncle didn't, Dad chose Donna & Phurba over his brother. For 40 years they have been part of our family. Phurba gave one of the nicest speeches at my Dad's funeral in 2020...Uncle had passed Years before never talking to him again and Never got the joy of getting to meet Phurba or see Donna again. I was so proud of my Dad rising above what he'd been taught & grew up with..my Uncle missed out on the wonderful life we've had with them. . & though we've all moved different places and living far apart ...We keep in touch & they always go to Florida at least once a year to see my Mom ( she'll be 90 in November & still going strong 😊 ❤the reaction & Thank you for the Smile it gave me ❤❤😊

This movie is widely celebrated by Asian immigrants all across America, as it's one of the few Hollywood movies that 1) cast actors of the correct ethnicity and showcases the culture relative to the area and 2) goes out of its way to address racism towards Asians from disaffected US veterans.
