@@kenzo_desu There's also the matter of game preservation. This is a single player game campaign that you won't be able to play once they shut down their servers.

The game has an online mode where you can compete with the cars you have earned and tuned and an offline mode would enable cheaters to get the best cars and tunes for online races when part of the experience is apparently that you grind for your own car so it all feels "earned". They COULD have offered a choice to players who don't want to play online multiplayer like "hey if you don't want multiplayer you can create an offline account but if you want to compete online, none of your progress will carry over and you'll start at zero" but realistically rather than separating online and offline communities at a time where almost everyone has access to stable internet, they chose to force people into online mode so whenever someone DOES decide to get into online multiplayer they can easily do so instead of having to start over. In the end, the amount of players who have a PS5 (or PS4) and no Internet access (or REALLY dislike the online requirement) is likely too small to matter in terms of overall target audience. You can of course decide that the product isn't for you, but I personally really don't care either way about always online requirements. Decades down the road when servers will be turned off, they'll offer a patch so people can play all modes offline and by that time, other racing games will have come out. Game preservation is important and all that but really, people need to stop saying "BUT WHAT ABOUT IN 20 YEARS!?!". 20 years ago Gran Turismo 3 came out and how many people are playing this game today? And of course, cynically, it's effective DRM because it'll be more difficult to hack this game. (which is a bit sad for, say, Brazilian players I believe, who really need access to cracked games to be able to play modern games due to ridiculous Brazilian import taxes. I'm saying that as a German who pays for his games.)

Always online is to avoid cheaters in the scoreboards

@@EasyAllies haha i clicked too based on the title. I immediately thought of the convo at the end of the last EZA podcast about reviewers finishing games and progress transparency by embargo day. This is a good idea and definitely do it for other games around launch!

The ‘DRM’ is so folks can’t cheat with GT Points offline. It’s needed to stop cheaters unfortunately.

Everything you collect in the single player can be used in multiplayer. So its definitely not an "excuse."

Its not lower in graphical fidelity. You're mistaking photorealism to certain style aspects. Yes, FH5 is photorealistic but it also does some style discrepancies with certain lighting aspects etc. The lighting in this is actual more real than forzas. Its also track based not open world, you're essentially only seeing the road in these games. The simulation aspect is miles above forzas.

Same for me. It looks good when its raining or cloudy but when its sunny i domt really think it looks great

The bloom effect, texutres and the colors are somewhat of a downgrade compared to GT Sport. I was watching a comparison video and it shocked me how GT Sport looked like real footage and GT7 looked like a video game.

Yeah even though Forza horizon is more arcadey it for some reason looks more realistic here. I feel maybe there is a bugger discrepancy between the high detail car models and the environment textures. It is most notable in the panning shots which I guess no one would ever drive in but it makes it look like matchbox cars for some reason

I find it funny that people still reference the ps4 vs xbox drm fiasco, when the companies have completely swapped positions. Microsoft is now more pro consumer than Sony has ever been.

@@michaellynch5254 It will bother you in the future when the servers are down and you won't be able to play it! You are basically renting a 70 dollar game for a few years and when the server goes down the game won't exist anymore!

@@kevincarneling7118 I mean 4 and 1/2 years later and Gran Turismo sports servers are still going. The only time they'll really go down is for an update and that's only for maybe a few hours. I'm okay with that. I'm just not quite as worried about this stuff as some people seem to be.

Yeah, I've been watching it and cars seem to come and go, with about 30 different cars available at a time. There isn't as much of a shakeup every day as I thought there would be though. Some cars have been in the store for pretty much the past week with the same price, and after they've been around for a bit, they might say "limited stock" or "sold out." There also tends to be a few cars at the top related to your current cafe collection mission. So I don't know the exact mechanisms, but it does look like it might take a while for specific cars to filter through. -Bloodworth

I also think it's worth noting that the stock refresh may be dependent on the number of people purchasing cars. So if that's the case, the rotation may go a lot faster once the general public starts playing. -Bloodworth

It has a stronger focus on single player. So if you never played multiplayer it should feel very different and fresh. In terms of what changed for the multiplayer.... those changes seem to be a bit more nuanced and you should probably follow the youtuber SuperGT (really funny dry humor) who also had early access to GT7 but in the coming weeks will be able to say more about actual online racing.

That's a poor excuse. Seems pretty pointless to be always online if you just want to do the Cafe mode and the like especially since the sweaty esports content hasn't kicked off yet. Lots of games have campaigns that can be progressed through offline and have been around forever. I don't understand why PD had such a tough time doing that for GT7.

Almost nobody cares - just about every game going is full of online modes and wont work without updates and online content. Its a tired old argument that has very little traction unless you are worried about playing this in 15 years - but there's very few games where you could do that in this age...

Did you even watch the video after he said that? He literally says "you can play it offline..." 10 seconds after he mistakenly called it always online. We will always be able to play this game unlike actual always online games like Destiny or the Division. We will be limited to arcade mode but we still can play it and we even still have all the cars we unlocked and tracks Does Destiny let you play with the guns and maps you unlocked in any way when you're offline? No. So stop misrespresenting what this game is.

Hold on folks, so first, an Online Only game means it will eventually die-100% guaranteed. Meaning if they wanted to pull the plug within 3 years, they can-with all progress wiped and can never every be able to replay the game. Also, it is a racing game, why does it have to be always online? Their are cars, and tracks, any slight tunes to the cars or additional tracks/cars can be added through patching/DLC. So lets say for multiple reasons, why that is fine, no issues. But that doesn't provide a real reason for online only Secondly, Destiny 2 is labeled by Bungie as a Definitive Action MMO, so why would that every be an seen as an offline game? And by that, why did the Xbox One literally bomb to the point where they needed to redo everything in order to make it a marketable product (did 10ish yrs make the difference?). Also, watching past that part, he stated offline can only be quick races which doesn't apply to progress. Forza isn't always online, but still sticks to everything that is a racing game that can be gamed with friends or solo. I hear y'all, but just doesn't make sense and seems like a bad decision for the game. Other games make sense for it, but not this. Love the GT series, but always online is unnecessary

The PS5 version is €80 here in Europe! (with the PS4 version "only" €70 which games have been here since the PS2, though in practice, most new PS2,3 and 4 games actually being sold at €60-65 new, but shops seem to be sticking to this damn €80 price for new PS5 games 😐 .)

Easely payed $99 for the (PS5) Digital Deluxe Edition for this game. We won't see a racing game like this until the next decade sometime in the 2030th

New physics, dynamic weather, dynamic time, 80 new cars with detailed interiors, better AI, bigger campaign, better livery editor, better graphics, better sounds and the list goes on

@@crumesd Well it needs to be since in real life races actual car damage plays a big role in the outcome of the race especially for rally and the Le mans 24 hrs race.

It's not a lie, it's just not precisely meant to be taken literally. It's a sentiment of frustration over a decision that doesn't make any sense from a player's perspective, regardless of their reasoning. There are countless games that haven't had to resort to such extreme measures, and having put quite some time in the game, it feels completely unnecessary and disruptive. -Bloodworth
