Finally people have figured this out. The original GT7 release date trailer also had incredibly expensive prices for tuning parts. It's all because they're using the japanese version of the game, which converts the price of everything to feel like yens.

Japanese player here. You guys should see it cost us 2 billion (yes, billion with a B and not million) credits for the Merc 300 SL (W194)! 😂

As cool as it is to see the Eiger Nordwand circuit make a comeback, I really hope that we get the rallycross layouts in either this update or a future one.

I will say I hope we get the option to swap out those stickers on the racing tires as I would hate to see those modern Michelin stickers on my Cobras and SL300s.

The prices in the trailer roughly represent Japanese Yen. That's it. I believe it's only in the JP version where credits are rated differently, everywhere else credits represent roughly the US Dollar. That's why the JP version gets two more zeroes on everything: prize credits, car prices, upgrade costs, etc.

The cost of living hitting polyphony as well is it? Price is going up everywhere, even in our games

You know what's weird, I have the Japanese version of the game as well but the game doesn't show the prices in yen. It shows the same prices as on my eu account. I think it's a different version that only pd uses to test before launching updates.

Do you know why these tire prices and wheel prices are so high in the update 1.49 trailer? Well, for those of you who don't know, they're using the Japanese version of the game. They're just matching the yen prices. (Show budget still does not exceed 23¥)

When GT7 trailers were coming out the prices were like this. The Aston Martin DB12 was like 2mil in the game trailer but when the game came out it was like 200k so I don't see a reason to worry here. I'm glad they added them,hoping for those michelin tyre stickers for all cars not just race ones. Defo getting these for all my cars

I had assumed the high prices were for a Michelin version of the tyres, more expensive but better, and the original unbranded ones would still be there at their original prices. This makes more sense though.

Even though the credits in the game do not represent dollars or pounds, they do put prices of cars and items into a perspective that we can relate to. 30,000 credits for a low end car is very similar to a $30,000 car in the States. I'm sure Brits have the same perspective. So of course, you would also want those in Japan where the game originates to have that same perspective or feel when they spend "money" on cars and items. If you do the conversion - and yes, I know the conversion is not accurate nor is it intended to be - 2,800,000 yen is about $17,000 which not exactly represented in the game, but it gives it a more realistic feel for those who use yen as their local currency. Think about it this way, if they kept the credits the same in the US, UK and Japan, we would be spending 2.8 million credits for tires or players in Japan would be spending about 150 yen for a set of racing tires - both scenarios would feel ridiculous to both sides of the world.

I Wonder if those tyres have some extra grip...or it's just sponsor logo on it

I know I was concerned about the price in the 1.49 overview video. Still odd that there is an exchange rate. Feels like someone could manipulate such a system unless under the covers there is CR and a YCR (Yen CR) currency. If I earn or purchase credits in YCR does the game convert my YCR to CR if I move to EUR or US? So many questions on how this system works if this is just an exchange rate thing.

Its a shame that Michelin are taking over from Hankook and not having both tyre brands to choose from i do understand why they wouldnt want that but choices would still be nice

It makes me incredibly sad this video was necessary... I figured it out in less than 3 seconds. It's a Japanese game, from a VERY Japanese publisher. It's simple, as in real life you have to take out 2 zeros, the price will be the same as now. Only now it's branded. This being said, they kept legendary cars prices going up, and the roulette tickets are a complete joke, it's a shame cause we're enjoying this game, beside this the new track and cars are very welcomed, although i would have preferred other track. I wish they give us more classic tracks Tokyo R246, special stage route 5 and 11 and some classic JGTC,DTM and Gt's from previous iterations of GT.

Thanks. I was really worried there for a minute yesterday. Mostly because I couldn't, and still can't, see why they would convert to yen in the first place. Our credits aren't dollars or euros or rubles or bitcoins, they're credits. They might as well divide the whole lot by a hundred and get rid of some zeroes.
