Gran Turismo Has Just Partnered with Fanatec 

I guess it was a matter of time once they started designing the DD Pro together. But yes, they used Thrustmaster until the end of last year.

There could be like a timed sponsorship contract involved since they used Thrustmaster's gear for so long. If that's the case and they had done like a several year long contract, it's no surprise why it took that long.

I want to upgrade my thrustmaster t300 but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I do like the smell of a burning belt

@@pausanzalemany8626 Yes, I don’t remember off the top of my head exactly which wheel you choose on the wheel config screen but I think it’s a CSL something or other. One of the round wheels.

indeed... and Fanatec now should apply power to convice PD... so far my DDpro in GT 7 is in lack of any sort of FFB feeling on long curves at high speed.. Maurice acknowledged and kept pushing the ball in PD field... Now that this the official wheel and they are partner I would consider them solid in fixing... lets hope

I used the DD Pro wheel but switched to the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel last year, and the DD Pro wheel hasn't been used since. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's something about it I couldn't get used to. I'm much more comfortable with the McLaren wheel.

with ACC... with GT7 FFB is poor.. but also by the other wheel to be fair... now being this official hoping that Fanatec would have more contractual power to convince PD in offeriing a better FFB for all wheel drivers

You'll love it. I went from a G29 to a DD Pro wheel base and F1 wheel for race cars and a round Club sport RS wheel for all the road cars. It's amazing!

It's actually very fun on DS5, you can up to a second behind in pace if you're skilled with a controller

Agree. I ended up selling mine and getting the clubsport RS wheel which is more premium. Wish they would have made the GT one with that same level of quality although, I think that would make the DD pro more expensive and outside their target price point.

I really like the wheelbase but the rim itself could definitely be higher quality.

I just bought the 8nm base and the Mclaren wheel. I didn't bother with the GT wheel.

Safety rating doesn’t really matter, in top split races. Driver rating is where it’s at.

I've noticed that too in the single player races. Accidentally went too narrow in a couple corners at Le Sarthe and fully crossed the line. I stopped and got back on the track where I was and avoided a penalty. System is broken but it might not be as broken as players have thought. Edit: Currently playing as I type this. It's penalties for ignoring a yellow flag that are broken; 700 series at Le Sarthe and the entire field crashed ahead of me due to rain (I put on wets cause I saw it coming), and I had passed a few cars that were still OFF TRACK. Lo and behold a 3 second penalty pops up. ????? Excuse me??? For what? Does the game really expect me to slam on my brakes (possibly hydroplaining in the process) and wait for them to get back on track? Hell no.

That's up to the other manufacturers, Thrustmaster could get their shit together and release the T818 for consoles, other companies like Moza/SC/Asetek can get their existing wheelbases licensed for consoles but they choose not to.

I would say there is more competition than ever for Fanatec. Might also be the reason why they are so aggressive with marketing at the moment.

If you like PS games it's worth it. I did it after my og xbox1 died. But I only play it with a friend, but life is getting in the way and i've started playing my pc more. GT is nice, but a bit...short.

@@Ham.rigs07 I mean gran turismo is not a huge single player experience. The slow drop of things to do and unlock comes to quick abrupt end. You immediately are askednto choose cars at the beginning to start your career. And your first pride is all of those cars you could he chosen negating the need to choose in the first place. Most of the cars you cannot use to race for progression. The money you earn per race varies wildly and mother majority pay very poorly in proportion to a handful that pay loads. Its a superb game but deeply flawed in its game design choices. How it's made. The sound the polish the breadth of tracks and cars is amazing it's pure art. And the balance of arcade to ful sim is nice and very close to full sim. Just the game elements are a bit flawed. They add bits every month though. Free cars bug fixes, more races to do. It's a much better game to get now then on release. You will be shocked coming from an Xbox, I was and wished I did it sooner tbh. If you don't have a pc you'll realise that Xbox treat their consumers really poorly.. but Xbox live and the chat system etc is smoother... Microsoft is a software enterprise company after all. Xbox live is bulletproof in comparison.

The cockpit view is far less realistic than the bumper or hood cams. IRL, you see out the windshield pretty much unobstructed. The cockpit view in gt7 is like you’re a 10 yo looking straight into the dash. I don’t know if you’ve ever tracked or raced a real car but the fun of sim racing is practicing the inputs required for good car control. We’re not kids trying to pretend we’re literally in a video game car.

@@sportbikejesus6297 in some cars you can’t even see much out of the window since it’s only a small strip of glass, the Audi R8 comes to mind it’s like a foot wide windshield which depending on your screen can be smaller lol. They need to have better customization for the cockpit cam like in iracing maybe then people would use it more than the hood cam.
