Do I have to buy a cd to get a decent recording of this great guitarist. I only just discovered him by chance and / but I see there are NO decent recordings anywhere. Why is that ? What a beautiful sound. So deep and rich. Better than Julian Bream ? I wonder.

If you dismiss the disastrous 1:50 - 2:10. Very little power or passion from this performance of this very emotive composition. Bream is the reference for this one.
Allan D Yeah, Well-- he's gettin older so I guess we can expect more Joe Biden Brain freezes from now on. He's Definately not the player he was 10-20 years ago. Probably doesn't practice as much anymore. I don't like Bream all that much. I would go with Jason Vieaux.

¡Hombre! ¡Qué crítico eres, Sr. Guitarra crítica! Equivocarse (y no 'tanto'!) es muy humano, más aún si tocas un instrumento que no perdona absolutamente nada. Tocar la guitarra es dificilísimo (formar las notas con la mano izquierda, empujando un dedo mientras tocas con los otros tres (polifonía) , averiguar que no suenen las cuerdas sueltas, producir un sonido lleno y bonito con la mano derecha, etc. etc...: todo esto a la vista del público, porque no puedes esconder nada. Tocar totalmente sin fallos es casi superhumano. Pues no tiene nada que ver con la edad (!). Incluso Bream se equivocó tocando 'live'. Y es el mejor de todos.
hdholl obviamente que ya David no toca como antes, aunque no lo creas la edad te pasa factura! el ya no estudia las horas que estudiaba cuando era joven y allí están los resultados, "ERRORES TÉCNICOS" y respecto a Julian Bream, el era un desastre! hasta el propio Russell lo critica por sus expresiones faciales tan horribles que gestaba cuando tocaba.
Dándome cuenta de lo estéril que es una discusión en YT: 1. La edad no pasa factura, sino no comprendo porque ahora yo toco mejor (y piezas más dificiles) que hace... treinta años. 2. No sé si Russell criticó a Bream - qué es la fuente de esto?? 3. Yo mismo asistí a un Bream recital (a unos metros delante de él) y sus 'expresiones faciales' resultaron de su concentración extrema y claramente coincidieron con acentos o pasajes dificiles en lo que tocaba- nada que ver con narcismo o un "show" à la Lang Lang.

@@martintoogood1444 That would depend on the judges credentials, sometimes these so called 'experts' are unable to pick up on the finer nuances of a piece in the way that a seasoned player can.
